No hackneyed "witty" commentary from me for now, I may update later today or tomorrow with something if the mood strikes me. The new format is still pretty time-consuming; I may go with bigger covers next week and impose a "ten per section" limit, if only because it might save me some time.

EDIT: I just realized Carol is staring at Peter's crotch, that wasn't my intention AT ALL. Will fix later. :lol

The story's still a big question mark, but at least the artwork on the X-23 ongoing looks promising.

Question: Is Dick going to still be Batman?

Honestly, having Dick as Bman has been super enjoyable. Growing pains are always enjoyable, and his constant tension with Damien is kind of gripping since its basically what Bruce must have wen through with his Robins but Dick wears it on his sleeve.

You also have to think, now that Dick has been Batman for a while do you really think he can go back to being Nightwing? He has legitimately grown and I think he has grown out of Nightwing. He used it primarily as a way of getting out of the Bat's shadow and way of showing he can do things on his own. Now he knows he can do it on his own, with a partner, and in Bruce's role. It'll be interesting to see what happens to him when Bruce gets back.

I normally don't geek out this bad :lol but I love both him and Kyle.

As for who will be Batman
theres going to be two Batmen. And people aren't going to be sure which one is which (JLA, etc)

To me no matter how good Dick was as Batman, and he was excellent, he was just keeping it warm for Bruce. That's not a slam.

Nightwing is the role he made for himself, and it's who he is. No shame in that at all.

I am certain that I will be dropping brightest day from now. i gave it 9 issues and it has fallen flat for me. With Daytripper wrapping up as well I am down to just Batman and Robin (possibly dropping that once Grant Leaves for Batman Inc) on my monthly pulls. Any recommendations on what to pick up instead? I am reading Hickman's FF in trade as well as secret warriors already and haven't enjoyed Invincible (read 24 issues), Walking Dead (1st trade). I am open to ideas people!

You really think so? I love the character that he was as Nightwing (liked that he was more innocent/less stained than Bats but in a grittier city) and the slightly low cost stuff that he worked with (occasional bike, the sticks) but now it just seems like who he is has shifted. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Honestly, I would like for him to go back to being Nightwing eventually but a while later. Also, is Tim Drake is doing his thing as Red Robin? He's the odd one of the family since he is a little bit of everyone (even Jason) but a taaad bit smarter. Hows his comic doing?

Is there any word of the Simonson Thor Omnibus getting a US release? It's currently up on Amazon UK. :(
May in the US according to recent news but I don't see a source for the article.

I found this in the comments:
The Omnibus recoloring by Steve Oliff is absolutely tremendous. Working in Walter's studio I have been privy to the recolored pages so far, and I have to say they are some of the most classic and beautifully handled work I have ever seen on comics that were originally printed on newsprint. Steve's coloring and the almost complete lack of PS "FX", have turned an already amazing project in to something that truly must be seen to be appreciated.

Something that is not mentioned in the book listing, all the original art has been re-scanned for Marvel at a much higher resolution and is resulting in the absolutely clearest reproduction of the Thor books that has ever been printed. In comparing the scans I made for Steve with even the most recent copies of the "visionaries" books, it's like night and day. Every line is clear, no muddied areas. If you have been a fan of Walter's Thor works over the years, you WILL want a copy of this, because the Thor books have NEVER been seen like this before.

Shit, Morrison's run on Batman just gets better and better. I fear for my head to actually explode upon reading #15.
BEST.JOKER.EVER! And Professor Pyg is such a creepy character, hope he gets used by other author in the future.

Flipped through Batman/Superman #75, all anniversary issues should be like this. Manapul's two-pager was pretty funny!

I'm continually saddened by the lack of love for DnA and the cosmic marvelverse. Cthullu universe has been awesome, dare say even more compelling then zombie lanterns and thats coming from a huge GL fan.

I mean come on, GALACTUSFUCKINGENGINE!!!

Here's a suggestion, save your money on the OMIT crap and pick up Thanos Imperiative, you won't be dissappointed.

Brightest Day has been one big flop. I guess Johns blew his load with Blackest Night.

New CBR interview with Marjorie Liu on X-23 actually left me feeling optimistic about the new series.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=28246

CBR: Let's begin by talking about "X-23." How much story time passes between the end of the recent "Second Coming" event, where Wolverine told her that she would no longer be part of X-Force, and "X-23" #1? Where is Laura physically and emotionally when the series begins?

LIU: Not a huge amount of time at all. She's messed up, honestly. She doesn't know where her place is anymore. While she was part of X-Force, her life was defined by "the mission." There was a job to do, and she did it. She was a good soldier.

But - what people love in war, they fear in peace. Or if they don't fear it, they don't understand it. And that's Laura's situation. She was great to have around when times were bad, but now that the world is settling down, well, what do you do with her? How do you treat her? Do you pat her on the back and say, "Okay, go be a kid now?" That's ridiculous. Except, that is what some of the X-Men try to do. Others who have had traumatic childhoods know better. She's not just a kid. She'll never be just a kid. She's a child soldier. That's a very unique psychology.

Of course, one can argue that all the kids on Utopia are child soldiers - but not like her. It's like comparing the students of an upscale military academy to the children of Sierra Leone who are forced into armies and then subjected to fear, brutality, and psychological manipulation to achieve absolute obedience. Those kids are dehumanized. The entire world is dehumanized, for them.

And now Laura is out of that army. How do you recover from that? How do you recover, when even your friends are afraid of you?

If you had told me this morning that a comic I purchased would end on a panel of Wolverine getting a blowjob, I would've called you crazy.

don't keep me in suspence, man. which is it?

X-Force: Sex & Violence #3. Which, given the title, means said panel should come as no surprise; still, it was an unexpected conclusion.

X-23 leads X-Force to rescue Domino and Wolverine from the Assassin's Guild. Domino donates $200M of the stolen Guild money to a charitable organization, and keeps about $37M for herself. She then tries to bribe an unhappy Logan into letting her keep that money, first with a Mustang convertible to replace the car destroyed in #1 -- and then with a BJ as they drive away into the sunset.

just read this one...weird. I didn't read the first parts of this story but from what i gathered, it's a retcon of One More Day?

instead of mephisto arranging it strange, iron man, and mr.fantastic mindwhipe the planet? How did they explain that it wasn't mephisto in the previous issues? wtf? Also, the whole thing with them both still knowing and MJ wanting to break up with him is retarded. marvel should have just left this one alone, it was completely ungenuine from the characters.
