My real book of the week is The Twelve #12, but I found the cereal box on FF #17 too funny to resist posting it. Maybe I should start a separate "Cover of the Week".

It was pointless. It has zero heart or meaning. I'd say it was the equivalent of toddlers hitting action figures together in the sand, but then toddlers care about the outcome.

FF#17 was the exact opposite of that outright shit.

Man AVX Versus could have been so much dumb fun, but it's amazing just how just dumb it is. It's sooo shallow there isn't much fun to be had. Fights feel as underdeveloped as if they had occurred in the main book only.

Also, did the Thing really won against Namor while fighting under the ocean??? Using an abyssal fish teeth? Really???

And how the hell did Iron Man made his armor of carbon nanotubes if it comes out of the hollow in his bones? WTF...

A guy as experienced as Magneto really didn't think of hitting him with an electromagnetic pulse from the start?

Both of those fights were written so badly. Mags vs. Shellhead could have gone either way depending on the will of the writer, but there's no way Ben would taken down Namor in a fight in the middle of the ocean.

And to top it Colossus/Juggernaut lost to the Red Hulk because he was afraid to sunk Utopia. So it's Avengers 3 X-men 0.

IMO both of the fights in AVX Versus 01 should have gone to the X-men. The Avengers didn't even bring Thor into the fight yet.

Agreed except the
Colossus vs Red Hulk fight. I thought one was really well done. Shows you how much stronger Colossus COULD be if he wasn't such a hero. He sacrificed himself to save others, which is exactly what he's always been about. If he wanted to, he could totally lose control and take down everything with Red Hulk

God, the Namor fight though. Jeez, what a joke. He should be 100x stronger underwater. So if he hits Thing at 45mph, does he lightly shove people while above water???

BTW, how does the spoiler rule work in this thread?

I didn't like anything today, 'cept Daredevil. FF #17 was shit, these Cullen Bunn Marvel books were shit, Secret Avengers looks like shit and it's about some cosmic people nobody gives a fuck about, Versus was shit, now this Black Nick Fury thing...

Haha, it's much worse actually. Over the course of the mini
he loses that eye, then happens to get his hair burnt off, then you see him shaving it and then comes that "oh why did you call him Nick Fury" panel and then they establish his good friend as Agent Coulson by giving him some glasses.

I'm actually not that opposed to the idea of Fury having a black son to kinda mimic Ultimate Fury but damn if this wasn't hamfisted as hell.

Well, I did like that part. Then it went into a bunch of cosmic kree stuff I couldn't care less about, so that book is dropped until Hardman comes back in July.

IMO if you're not reading Swamp Thing, Batman, or Animal Man you're missing out on COMICS, MAN! Just as viable and entertaining as those amazing books you mentioned.

They are flying high. Batman is one of the best runs I've read of the character, ever.

Snyder has taken his place alongside Remender and Hickman in my eyes.


I really liked the art in Secret Avengers, the best part being no kittykat Beast! #saynotosecondarymutations

I noticed that today. Beast's look is probably the most fluctuating of all currently popular Marvel characters. A lot of artists seem to ignore the cat thing, and that S.W.O.R.D mini had him looking almost like a Tex Avery wolf.

Lately it seems most depictions of him are closer to his archetypical look before Catification.

Snyder is fucking fantastic. I would love to see what he would do on Marvel's camp. Everything the guy touches is golden. Best writer in comics right now.

I mean sorry but even above water Thing isn't on Namor's level strength wise, and you're telling me in water he can beat Namor who swims fast as shit and is like what? 10x as strong as on land where he was already one of the strongest mutants out there? lol get the fuck out. Good lord this mini is sucking more dick than this porno I'm watching in another tab.

I can't decide if I should pick up any AvX stuff. So far I only got the first New Avengers tie in and WatXM issue. These spoilers aren't really changing my mind on anything. Oh, also picked up issue 0.

The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is how he ends his stories. His first prologue arc on Detective Comics pre 52 felt like a huge cliche and Severed I thought was good up until the ending.

why are people surprised that avx sucks? at least it's good for business, but i'm not wasting my time or money on it.

i finally read Severed - man that shit was good. i love the horror genre and this was a great entry. i enjoyed the end just fine, though i hope we don't revisit the universe.

black mirror was also totally awesome. i dont really like his current run on batman with the court of owls stuff. nothing about it seems special or unique, just another standard superhero tale.

I've just read Battle Scars...what the fucking fuck is Marvel thinking? How do they profit from making 616 Fury the same as Avengers Movie Fury???

I doubt comic sales from the main characters of the movie (Cap, Thor, Iron Man and Hulk) are going to get a boost from the movie, regular Fury doesn't even have a series.

This will attract no new readers at all, and it will just piss old ones like me. What a fucking disrespect to the character, it's creators, fans and every writer or artist that worked on him previously.

When they revealed some months ago that Marcus was Nick's son, I imagined they would pull that shit but I expected old Fury to still be around. Now we know that they're just going to dump him.

Jock and his Detective Comics run with Snyder pre New 52, it's Dick Grayson as Batman. It's seriously making me rethink my " only one batman statue" rule, as i don't want a bunch of batmans around, though since it's Dick Grayson and not Wayne....rule loophole.
