Looks like IDW's main D&D series. The collected stuff is on Amazon for a decent price.

Thanks, have some more Atomic Robo awesomeness in return ;3

I'll just wait for Tizoc to post the rest of it...

Wow, Atomic Robo looks amazing, I'm definitely gonna buy some. In return, to whoever has already read Atomic Robo, you might enjoy some songs available on their site by a rapper I think is decent.

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
atomic robo is gaining fans? we may differ on many things, but i love you comicgaf

I caught up on some stuff.

The OMAC vs Frankenstein fight kinda sucked. I don't even know how that's possible. For some reason Didio decided to ignore any previously established personality or speech patterns Frank had. You'd think he'd look at that like it was part of his job or something. The art just wasn't happening on the Frank side, couldn't tell what was going on half the time. Plus, they did the "tell the same story from different sides in both books" thing except they couldn't keep half the details straight. And Checkmate's HQ is in Mount Rushmore? Seriously? Like they're Team America? LOL. Let's stop now.

The end of the first Batman arc was such a letdown after such an awesome buildup. "Well I'm mad, so now I'm stronger than ever and can punch people through walls despite having had my innards ripped out." Laaaaame. I'm sure there's some TV Tropes name for that.

Read Justice League up to #6, that was vapid fun. I cannot understand why it took them this long to do a book with a lineup like this.

Aquaman - the first 6 issues were kinda meh, 7 was solid, feels like Johns is finally getting into the meat of the series. Black Manta is a motherfucker. But it makes me sad that Reis won't draw AM with the awesome Jim Lee sideburns. I mean come on, it just makes sense, people!

When is Leviathan Strikes #2 gonna get released? I want more Morrison Batman ;.;

Well, Batman Incorporated is relaunching in May. Morrison writing and Chris Burnham drawing, hopefully all the issues. Can't wait for that. I just reread Leviathan Strikes yesterday, damn that was good!
When Talia's like, "I practically signed my name, give or take a few letters" and she's setting up shop in the theatre Bruce's parents were killed outside of, I was blown away.

FLEX MENTALLO: MAN OF MUSCLE MYSTERY – THE DELUXE EDITION HC - Oh. My. GOD.

FINALLY.

I WILL OWN THIS AND CHERISH IT FOREVER.

Thanks for reminding me! I ordered this from my local shop, didn't know it was coming out this week. All I know about it is it's Morrison and Quitely and that's good enough for me!

Adam Warrock is also responsible for that awesome Scott Pilgrim recap song!

Atomic Robo has been getting love a lot in past threads, it's just that without actual previews the charm of the book is lost. So Tizoc took the initiative!

Has anyone else read Pax Romana by Hickman? I wish he would follow up on that. Manhattan Projects #1 was alright, but I liked some of his earlier Image series better.

SHIELD is like a more superhero version of that kinda. Well, at least i felt that way.

I guess they both incorporate historical figures, but I thought Pax Romana had an interesting concept that I haven't seen done (well) very often. I was looking forward to Hickman following up with his plans.

I guess his Marvel work took over. Not that I am complaining too much. Fantastic Four is the best it has been since at least Waid. Maybe since Byrne.

I just finished re-reading Y: The Last Man and I'm looking for more graphic novels similar to it. Any recommendations? I'm itching for another great adventure.

my shop was selling AvX early and I read it tonight (as well as issue 0).

Issue zero was funny... in a good sort of way I suppose. Still irks me that artists can't decide what goddamn age Hope is sometimes.

Issue one, it's a setup issue obviously, so there are a few big moments, but nothing utterly crazy or shocking. Haven't decided if I'm going to keep up with the run, but I'll see if issue 2 peaks my interest in 2 weeks.

Got The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker the other day, and rad the whole thing last night. Finally, Butcher's story. It did not disappoint! A very nice little mini series filler, not to get on with the main story, I feel things are coming to a head very soon!

How's the art? I really enjoyed Frank Cho's in issue 0, but Romita has been up and down lately

I think Romita JR looks really good in AvX #1. Scott Hanna's inks seem to fit him better then Klaus Jensen, and Laura Martin's colors really pop off the page.

There is this odd panel where Cap is pointing both fingers at Cyclops, like he's the fuckin' Fonz, which made me laugh at what should have been an important moment.

Alright I've been out of comics for awhile but I was at a comic book store and something caught my eye. It had a bunch of superheroes dressed up as Spider-man but more importantly it had Spider-Woman in a Scarlet Spider outfit. What is the story behind that because it looks freaking awesome.

AvX Infinite is pretty damn cool, and at only 99 cents well worth checking out as a technological experiment, even if you have little to no interest in the main AvX event.

Sounds like Spider Island. Pretty fun event from last summer.

Spider-Island, it's an event that took place in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man last year, where everybody in Manhatten was suddenly gifted Spider-Powers. It's a pretty great story.

Yeah it was fun, i'd get the TPB of that, i'd stay away from the ancillary titles, except for maybe Venom. They were pretty meh

Good to see Atomic Robo getting some fans. I highly recommend the 'cthulu' story (Atomic Robo and the Shadow From Beyond Time).

Also, are you guys getting AvX Infinite through comixology?

Wow haven't been in one of these threads in like 2-3 months.

But wanted to stop by just finished reading AvX 1. I thought it was a decent issue. Obviously, they want to slowly ramp up the fiction between the two groups.

The art.. I found lackluster, there was just something about the characters' faces and general design that rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when you first see the Avengers group.

The money shots at the end were indeed awesome though.

I'll be sticking with this for a bit. See how pacing goes over the next 2-3 issues.

OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY

Fear Itself: The Fearless wraps up this week with #12 (anyone? Bueller? Bueller?)... but apparently, towards the end they drop hints at
Valkyrie leading a team of eight female heroes on Earth. Sooo... possible new Lady Liberators series?
Marvel, do this please -- and make it FUN. You missed the boat the first time, so just do it.

Get Peter David on it.

WRONG! Cloak and Dagger was a class act. Shame about the main event though :p

On vacation this week so I'm making an attempt to clear my backlog. In the past week I have read:

Chew vol 4 Flambe: was OK but the weakest vol yet I think, not much seemed to really happen by way of an overarching plot for the book. Stuff happened, I giggled, moving on.

Superman Secret Identity: Finally finished this after having it for months. Was ok I thought but it wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be. The photo-ref artwork was really a letdown since I know how amazing Immonen can be off his own back. And the story was very touching at times but was also far far too wordy. The narration just went on and on and on and was very maudlin and not particularly interesting. The story felt a bit flabby, where the elements of tension were dispelled far too quickly, leaving the story with little in the way of forward momentum in the second half.

Uncanny X-Men: Dark Angel Saga vol 1: I had been putting this off, hoping to read AoA first to get a feel for the AoA universe, but after reading all the first issues I feel like I have a handle enough on the universe to plow on, which is a blessed relief since those 90s X-comics were FUCKING SHITE from top to bottom. Reading Uncanny made me realise the gigantic quantum leaps forward that comic book storytelling has taken in the past 20 years. Remender's title and subtlety and humanity in a way that Lobdell and Nicieza from the 90s could barely comprehend. Reading the original AoA is like having people shout nonsense at you for 24 pages every issue. Everything is so exclaimatory, every relationship and exchange is wrung out for every line of dialogue possible, leading to the characters saying such ridiculous things. By contrast, Remender's run is all class - powerful character beats in a single panel, high stakes, great action. It both means more and says a lot more than any of these overstuffed 90s books ever did.

The art kinda falls apart in this arc though, it feels like a different colorist was on parts of it, where Dean White's usually incisive and expressive palette drops back down to normal superhero colors for a few pages, it's very odd.

Started reading vol 1 of The Boys today too from a loan from a mate. It seems pretty good so far, although I don't know how much I'll enjoy the patented Ennis rapey/sweary hijinx. It's one of his ticks that put me off Preacher for years too, although I think Preacher manages to straddle that line between hilarity and depravity really well, so hopefully the Boys can do the same.

Plus we have this weeks' comics which look great. Jumped on for Danger Club #1, the art looks lovely and the premise sounds fun. Plus the usuals like Animal Man and Sweet Tooth and Action Comics and Wolverine and the X Men are exciting me very much.

FUCK YEAH COMICS!!

Mark Waid and co.’s Daredevil got 6 nominations, and is very likely the most critically acclaimed mainstream comic of the year.

yes, hope they win something

Can I just jump in at the start of Waid's Daredevil run without bothering with the lead-up arcs? I never really got into the Bendis or Brubaker stuff.
