sweet tooth looks good but i'll think i will wait till the trades come out. Am thinking of starting reading fables again but have a question should i keep buying the trades or can i jump back in to the single issues from this months one ?

There are a bunch of trades out for Sweet Tooth already and I highly recommend them, it's a great book.

As for Fables, I would suggest trades too. I don't know how long it's been since you've read it, but you might as well pick up where you left off, right?

Singles are for suckers (like me). You know it's more fun to read the trades!

Can I just jump in at the start of Waid's Daredevil run without bothering with the lead-up arcs? I never really got into the Bendis or Brubaker stuff.

yep that's what the .1 issues are for, an arc just ended so you're good.

Though i'd encourage you to get the first few issues of the run, they were fantastic

A podcast just spoiled the end of Hickman's FF run for me. I been thinking about reading it for a long time but was waiting for it to all come out in trades. Man that would have been rad to read lol.

I think Romita JR looks really good in AvX #1. Scott Hanna's inks seem to fit him better then Klaus Jensen, and Laura Martin's colors really pop off the page.

There is this odd panel where Cap is pointing both fingers at Cyclops, like he's the fuckin' Fonz, which made me laugh at what should have been an important moment.

Better than he usually is, true. But not good. The panel with Cap and Cyke on the beach makes them look like kaiju because the perspective is soo soo wrong. And a lot of the faces are straight up broken.

What podcast was it?

And unless they went through everything issue by issue I wouldn't be too worried, there are still lots of surprises and twists along the way. And with all stories, the goodness is in the telling, not just the plotting. Me saying that theres a line where
Val tells Franklin he's her favourite superhero
means next to nothing by itself, but in conext with the art and the point in the story, it's one of the sweetest moments I've seen in a recent comic book.

I've been reading the whole thing but I'm slavering at the mouth at the thought of a nice series of hardcovers collecting it all. Yum.

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY

Fear Itself: The Fearless wraps up this week with #12 (anyone? Bueller? Bueller?)... but apparently, towards the end they drop hints at
Valkyrie leading a team of eight female heroes on Earth. Sooo... possible new Lady Liberators series?
Marvel, do this please -- and make it FUN. You missed the boat the first time, so just do it.

Get Peter David on it.

hopefully storm can make the cut. so she can be so preoccupied with this and the xmen to the point that she isnt at the beck and call of panther.

He finished his original 3-year arc last month, but his run isn't actually over until October.

They specifically spoiled
Future Franklin being the Power Cosmic and having Galactus as a herald and a specific line he says to him like "Come to me my Galactus" or something like that
which I'm sure won't spoil the experience of reading through it much, but it sounds incredibly badass and it would have been an exceptional payoff after having read through the entire thing. Still gonna read it but it was one of those things where I heard them say it and I was immediately like "Awww MAN! I wish I had actually seen that instead of hearing about it 2nd hand!"

Comicsalliance has a great review of AvX Infinite. At only 99 cents, it's absolutely worth it, even if you have little interest in AvX itself. (Just don't buy it separately if you're planning on buying AvX #1, since it's included with all purchases.)

Yeah, don't be an idiot like me :(. At least it was only 99 cents.

Oh you're fine then! That was literally one facet of a story with at least ten going at once. Yeah the Franklin stuff is cool, but the character stuff they do around that is the real gold, and that you can't be spoiled on, you just experience it over time.

That bit was cool though :) but it wasn't the coolest bit of the issue for me.

Read AvX#1 on my iPhone today and really enjoyed it. But damn, not looking forward to eleven more $3.99 issues. That's $47.88 for the entire series. I may just have to "trade wait" for the hardbound collection.

AvX infinite was super cool though. Looking forward to seeing more of that. So can anyone explain the deal with
Nova
to me? I thought
Richard Rider died or is stick in an alternate dimension after Thanos Imperative
? So who is the new kid we're seeing here?

Nova is sort of like Green lantern where there are a whole corps of them. Richard Rider was the sole survivor after Annihilation a few years back but they started recruiting new corps members again more recently. The Nova in AvX is probably one of those.

I wish the old Milestone runs were available digitally. Now that would be something to convert me to digital, I would even pay a premium for it.

Only took me one issue of WatXM to remember how much I absolutely loathe Chris Bachalo. I honestly, no hyperbole, would rather read raw scripts than have to sit through another issue with his art in it. Even if I could forgive the overall style of his art, (which I've done in the past, and if you enjoy it, more power to you), I can not abide his stupendously shitty coloring. I have never, ever seen a more blandly colored comic book than WatXM 8.

In case anybody needs a reminder, over the last couple months with Bradshaw and Ponsor on art this has become one of my if not my sole favorite comic book. All the background detail and all the hilarious little jokes and bits placed into the art made every Bradshaw issue as much a picture hunt as an actual reading experience. I was dreading the return of Bachalo and he more than surpassed expectations for how shitty he could get with this issue. At first it started out with my heart sinking a little more every time I turned the first couple of pages. Then every single new panel became its own new disappointment. By the end of the book, probably the final 1/4 of it or so, I was so burned out from hating the art that I have no fucking clue what even happened and now I'm going to have to go back and read the fuck through it again just to try and understand what the hell happened at the end.

I'm just so damned disappointed right now. This is by far the most emo and bitchy I've ever gotten over a comic book so enjoy it or call me a fanboy or a whiner or whatever else, but somebody please tell me I'm not completely insane for thinking Bachalo is poison on this book.

Personally, I hate this fuckin' Khoi Pham artwork on DD 10.1. I can't imagine any new readers picking this up, and thinking, "HEll yeah, this is the shit, I'm picking up this book for sure"

Oh, okay, wasn't aware that Rider had started recruiting again. And yeah, I knew how the Nova Coros worked.

It's gross. I hate point one issues so much even if they're somehow miraculously good. I almost didn't pick it up but it's god damned Daredevil.

I do think the Genesis/Angel thing in WATXM #8 just...brilliant, really. 20 years of the crazy relationship between Warren and Apocalypse, and now they're discovering themselves together again, for the very first time. What an excellent usage of continuity and old characters being used in new, interesting ways.

No kidding. Brilliant moment. Fantastic comic.

Also, I loved AvX.

Yeah it's a shame it wasn't drawn competently.

I guess it'd be to obvious if it was his brother?

Wait Bachalo's incompetent?

Yes, as of today I feel he is one of the worst artists in the history of comics. I would take Greg Land and Rob Liefeld alternating arcs on Wolverine and the X-Men over any more Bachalo.

Bachalo fans: Thank your lucky stars for Humberto Ramos, holding down dead last.

It was pretty hard to tell what was going on in this issue - particularly all of the stuff in space/on the space station (SO MUCH WHITE) - but other than that I've loved Bachalo on this series.

I haven't read through all of this week's pickups yet but I was pleasantly surprised by one thing in particular. Hulk #50 has a backup story with art by Dan Brereton. He doesn't seem to be doing a lot of comics work these days so it was a nice little treat.

Yeah, at this point, Wolverine and the X-men automatically wins panel of the week. Will post the winner later!

Man, New Mutants is such a pain to read. A whole issue where Doug Ramsay and Warlock talk about feelings and shit (I don't know actually, I skipped pages and pages). It's annoying to see awesome characters like Moonstar and Sunspot have to get dragged down with this.

AvX 1 was A-Ok. Some minor art jank from JRJR but for the most part it looked great. The story pretty much went exactly, word-for-word as expected. Cap and Cyke are so, so boring.

Infinite 1 was really cool. Definitely a good use of the digital medium. The animation effects were fun and watching panels evolve was neat. It didn't seem very long though. Anybody parse out how many panels total it was fully drawn and how many pages of paper comic it would have equaled out to?

Mark Waid and co.’s Daredevil got 6 nominations, and is very likely the most critically acclaimed mainstream comic of the year.

yes, hope they win something

Yes you can, the book is fun and entertaining.

I liked Panther and Storm marriage =/

For that matter: MAKE PRIEST'S PANTHER RUN AVAILABLE FOR IPHONES, MARVEL!

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
man wolverine & the x-men is some of the best super hero stuff i've ever read. each issue is so entertaining in it's own right - the bachalo art makes it all the better.
