COMICS! April 2012 |OT| It's a new month? Already?!

I canceled Action Comics since it really wasn't doing anything for me. The only New 52 comic I'm enjoying is Batman. Are there any other series' getting massive critical acclaim amongst the new 52?

Also, with Marvel, I only read X-Force, ASM, and USM. Any books right now getting mass acclaim? I know Daredevil's supposedly really good right now.

Wolverine and the X-Men is crazy good.

Amazon.com delivery brightened my morning:

One of the best creative teams ever, no doubt

and the Gambit thing is probably a different thing then the Fraction/Aja comic, so now I won't have to buy it, yeeeeeeeeeees

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like

Animal Man and Swamp Thing are the most consistently praised of the New 52 books and they are awesome. So awesome.

I'm not sure how widespread its critical acclaim has been, but the first 7 issues of Demon Knights might be my favorite story arc from the entire New 52 reboot and it needs sales help so fucking buy it!

If you were looking specifically for cape/tights superhero stuff, The Flash is the only book whose story and art has been consistently impressive from start to current.

Some would say Aquaman is great too, but I don't find the character or any of the storylines so far interesting, but Ivan Reis is murdering the art on that book something insane.

As for Marvel, Yes, Daredevil is amazing. Buy it.

Wolverine and the X-men is still one of my favorite ongoing superhero comics right now, despite my dislike of the "main" artist on the series, Chris Bachalo. I still recommend the series wholeheartedly.

The other Remender books, Venom and Secret Avengers are both amazing. Buy them.

You didn't ask about non-DC/Marvel but buy Saga god damn it. Second issue drops tomorrow.

I seriously need to catch up on the following

- Aquaman
- Animal Man
- Swamp Thing
- Demon Knights

Thankfully DC is awesome with discounting their digital "back issues" by $1.00

I really want to get into Wolverine & X-Men, but Marvel's $3.99 pricing disgusts me, especially as I'm a digital reader. They don't even discount the back issues. SMH.

GAMBIT!!!! Now Marvel just needs to accept my Protector ongoing submission and I'm set. Saga? Tomorrow is all about Peter Panzerfaust issue 3.

Thief of Thieves #3 tomorrow, excited. Unlike 100 Bullets where I came in late to the series, it's fun to follow one from the start.

Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Demon Knights
Birds of Prey
Batman
Batwoman

Others that are pretty good
Suicide squad
Flash
Aquaman

I'd add Red Hood, I, Vampire, Teen Titans/Superboy, Nightwing & Wonder Woman to that list.

Yea I forgot WW. Its no Rucka WW (best run ever) but its interesting

I vampire I'm behind but it's pretty good. I do like the cool Jae Lee like art

Night wing is in the avg camp with batgirl for me. I read but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.

All Star Western is awesome.

Other good ones:

Animal Man
Justice League Dark
Resurrection Man (may not be long for this world though)
Frankenstein (this is the Doom Patrol of the New 52)

I, Vampire is much better than you think.

Loved OMAC, but that's done now.

Justice League, Batman & Aquaman are good for straight ahead pure bred DC superheroics. Batman is easily the best written of those, though Johns is finally getting some traction with his classic world building in the last issue of Aquaman.

Pretty much. I can't wait for people to throw this in the face of that quote about a 616/Ultimate crossover meaning they have officially run out of ideas.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Terrible. Scarlet Spider has been a far better spider-book than the absolutely glacial pace of Ultimate. Entire Ultimate line needs culling if clinging to 616 crossover coattails for more exposure is the level of desperation its reached.

This is why you should never say never. I'm looking forward to it very much though, USM is brilliant and I'm wondering what this will mean for Miles and the UU in general. Basically, anything by Pichelli is good by me.

There's only one thing you need to know about Suicide Squad #8 and it's that THEY ARE BRINGING DEADSHOT'S SICK STACHE BACK.

WE DID IT GUYS.

YES.

The Ultimate Universe is as pointless as a second asshole now.

Will drop pants for Sony.

Why the hate? I'm enjoying it so far.

Pretty much. Kinda hoping ultimate reed wipes the universe clean and they start over.

Why? I like the idea of two different spider-mans in two different universes. Morales just needs to build up his supporting cast and enemies, you cannot do all of that in just one book.

I'd love to see Morales, Parker and O'Hara together in the same book or video game.

Marvel has officially run out of ideas.

Seems like i see his same post or hear this same comment anytime Marvel does some new storyline or something.

Is there a way to digitally subscribe to some marvel comics like ultimate spider-man?

I don't think so. I think you can set alerts, so you're notified when a new issue comes out though, which is very similar. I mean, subscriptions are usually only useful for making sure a book doesn't sell out before you get your grubby mitts on it. No danger of the in the digital age. Of course, maybe you were angling for the discount - Marvel want me to tell you where to stick that idea, but I think that's very rude of them...

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"

Its not really anything to do with the spidermen in particular, but the entirety of the universe. Killing off a majority of the mutants in the gruesome ways only a grief stricken madman can, the complete nonsense that destroyed the fantastic four as a team(which was my favorite book in the block) and the weak ultimates vs avengers storyplot just makes me long for the earlier days of the ultimate universe(which is sad because I used to shit on the line pretty hard.) Its amazing how bad ultimatum screwed things up.

Now that Hickman is gone, i can officially drop the Ultimate universe and be done with it forever.

And I'll be sure to ignore this thing as well.

That sucks. I would like a cheaper subscription plan that would automaticlly download into my ipad.

I never really bought into the ultimates universe, i was a bit bitter about the 2099 universe comics ending but the new spider-man got me to actually start buying the comic.

God, who gives a fuck. People love to crucify public figures on shit they said ages ago as if that shit matters. If this ends up being a good story, and this has all the potential to, who cares. I'd love to see Peter Parker counsel Miles Morales at this point in his "career".

But oh no Joe Quesada said something like seven years ago.

Dear lord.

This story will be bad because Bendis is writing it, not because JoeQ said some shit 7 years ago. As if people can't change their minds in 7 years.
