God, who gives a fuck. People love to crucify public figures on shit they said ages ago as if that shit matters. If this ends up being a good story, and this has all the potential to, who cares. I'd love to see Peter Parker counsel Miles Morales at this point in his "career".

But oh no Joe Quesada said something like seven years ago.

Dear lord.

I agree with you about changing minds. He's just going to have to eat some shit because of how much of a cock he is about his proclamations that he never sticks too.

as long as the end result is a good one, that's all that matters.

EDIT:

Can't sleep and finally hitting some of this week's comics.

Batman & Robin was really, really excellent. They are seriously nailing the Bruce/Damian dynamic.

Demon Knights always makes me grin, but this issue with the origin(s) of Xanadu and Etrigan's romance was something quite special! Bonus Chang Camelot flashbacks too!

Saga #2, wow. Just wow.

There a way to get all The Walking Deads in electronic form for a reasonable price?

Kinda but not really. AFAIK (not having bought them since I buy them physically), you can get the 'trades' on comixology for a slightly reduced price, I think they might be around the £7.50 mark (no idea what this is in the monopoly money americans call 'dollars'). So that's still cheaper than print, but not by much. You might be better off shopping around in meatspace for them.

..

Read Fantastic Four 605 this morning, what a lovely comic. It was one of those epilogue books you only get after a big story, such wonderful decompression and character building. Really dug the future New Yorks and Ben's beard, and the end was just wonderful. Yay!

On another note, does anyone worry that Image are flooding the market with too many #1s at the moment? It seems every week there are one or two new titles, and their weirdest thing is that they're all brilliant for the most part. I hope these books can all find audiences, seeing as all of the books I've read so far have been great and they all deserve attention. Not read the new Hickman yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
OMG, Scarlet Spider is the shit. Ryan Stegman is flat-out phenomenal. I don't think there's a single artist who draws action the way this man does. The way he utilizes splash pages, the transitions between actions, the constuction of the vertical or horizontal panels to emphasize the fast sudden movement(the zombie ninja fall or the horizontal speed panel for that crazy kick Kaine gives The Smithy), the way he builds up to an action then follows-through hard with the next driving home the impact, or the unique page layouts. All I can do is heap praises upon what this man does. Unbelievably good.

We are forum brothers, our opinions are clearly genetically linked (and superior to others). Scarlet Spider feels like a comic from a different age, when they actually depicted ott action in spades. Really enjoying it. Never thought I'd come to like Kaine but Spider Island really rebirthed that character. Parker brothers, away!

I wonder if Bendis has like a Final Draft template for Crossover/Flashback/Crossover issues. I feel like I've read that issue of New Avengers 78 times before.

There's an article in Hero Complex written by Neal Kirby (Jack Kirby's son) about his dad. It's a great read if you like any of the creations of Kirby during his days on Marvel.

I read Saga #1 last night. I'm a big Brian K. Vaughan fan, so I was really looking forward to this. Well, even one over-sized issue is not really enough to give you a full introduction to this world, but I liked what I saw. Most of the tropes (science and magic, a galaxy at war) are not particularly original, but they don't really have to be. As usual, Vaughan puts his own particular spin on things. After 60 issues of Y - The Last Man, 60 issues of Ex Machina, etc. it's amazing how much I've gotten to know the rhythm of his dialogue. But it still hasn't worn thin, and bigger ideas always live at the heart of his stories. I'm definitely interested in seeing where this goes. Also, the Lying Cat is pretty awesome.

He's been churning out those book during his sleep automatic writing style. He has qualities but boy I can't wait for him to get the hell away on those book and write some good noir thing like he can.

Absolutely agreed - as Newsarama points out, as Quesada himself has said, it's absurd to treat his statements as written in stone. It's not a terrible thing to change your mind over time.

(That said, back in 2005, a 616/Ultimate crossover probably would have been a lousy, desperate idea. But times change, and a 616 Peter/Miles team-up is a much better hook than what they'd have pulled off at the time.)

Hadn't read the newest issue yet, but I'd pretty much given up on this. Can't stand seeing Tomasi undo all of Damian's development under Morrison to turn him into a bratty psychopath again.

Yeah, Saga #2 was really good. God I love that art. Incidentally, it's the first new weekly comic I've read since like Astonishing X-Men #6 or something (albeit in digital form). Welcome me back, bitches, the rabbit hole goes oh so deep.

Also been enjoying Morrison's Batman and Robin, as well as Rucka's Detective from around the same time.

Is The Return of Bruce Wayne worth reading?

Indeed he is. Jerome Opena with and without Dean White is like night and day, he brings him to a new level. As long as White sticks around, I can handle most of the art changes. Especially when it's Phil Noto for a done-in-one.

I think we might see more of what Marvel has planned for UXF this weekend.

Usually you're fulla shit
:p
, but you're bang on the money there. After last issue's pointless punchy punchy, here was an issue with character moments and heart, and that's what I look for in a good comic. Plus that panel of Bruce carrying Damian out of danger was just lovely, really emphasising how small and fragile Damian is. I think they kinda swept the "Damian is a psycho" stuff under the rug, but maybe it's for the best. He's not a psycho, he just doesn't know how to be a kid.

Comic of the week so far goes for Fantastic Four still, that was just everything I love about comics wrapped up in a bow. BUT! That cover was atrocious! That whole "person screaming with a big bit of spit in their mouth" just looks terrible every single time. B&R made the last page of #6 unintentionally hilarious doing this, Frank mangod Quitely did it with Lex in All-Star and it looked dumb, and now Garney has done it too (twice!) and it still looks stupid. It looks like Ben has one extra long and pointy tooth. No human in the history of saliva has ever looked like that.

I really liked Fantastic Four this week. Art wasn't anything special but it wasn't anything bad either. Hickman's sticking with Fantastic Four for awhile still though right? Because I could easily see that being a conclusion to a nice old omnibus but I want more.

He's off both FF and Fantastic Four in October. Gotta make room for Avengers, ya know

I loved the story but really don't want it in continuity at all. Ben deserves better.

wtf fantastic four came out this week?

I'm looking to unload a large collection of comics this weekend at C2E2 in Chicago, but I've been out of the game for about 15 years. What is the go-to website for pricing comics?

I have considered for a while Mycomicshop.com a good reference for prices

So I just read issues 1-3 of Church of Hell, I liked where it was going, anybody read the rest and can tell me if it's worth continuing?

Agree with the last part. Latest FF was good indeed and very heartwarming. Ben Grimm is the man \m/

Other stuff I read this week include:
Demon Knights 8:
Yeah...I think I'll take Etrigan's words for this one.

Batman & Robin 8:
So can we please not have Damien kill people anymore now? Cuz it's becoming friggin' stupid. Did you read this issue Spike?

Lobster Johnson #4:
Great issue and great art, wonder how this'll end in the next one?

Saga 2:
Yeah that at the end...I mean what...
so the Horrors are children who died in the war? Dunno if they'd help them or not TBH
, but otherwise a good issue.

Avengers EMH #1:
Really good even though it's not all that impressive, just hope the next issues won't have feedbacks or attempts at advertising for the cartoons.
Panther friggin' owned this issue though
"Then it is settled. You are disliked on every country."

Avenging Spiderman 6:
Was fantastic. Ruck handled all 3-4 characters very well and for once I'm glad to see
Punisher working with the others rules
. Plus Spidey was hilarious~

Saucer Country 2 was good too this week.

TF Autocracy 7:
Amazing how well 10 pages work with this story. Megatron being a boss as always~

Batman & Robin 8:

I dropped B&R after the second or third issue, I can't remember which. All I know is that Damian picked somebody's brain, and that Bruce is probably going to try and rehabilitate the little psycho.

So in only two issues I think Saga is the best book out right now. Damn it's got the perfect mix of world building, actin, humor, pace, characters, and art. I need MORE!

Welcome back BKV this is shaping up to be your best work yet.

I think I'm going to grab the first few issues of this tonight. I've never read any Damian stories but I've always liked a good Batman and Robin story.

Marvel Previews for April 18, 2012 (Comic Book Resources)

Oh man. Ohhh man. Next Wednesday is going to be HUGE. :O

I really wish I was reading new Hulk issues but I refuse to pay $3.99 for a comic. I buy a lot of DC stuff after the monthly price drop and currently nothing from Marvel except during the sales.

I may be a total Morrison whore, but if you want a great Batman and Robin story and want to be introduced to Damian, read #1-3 (or the first trade) of the previous Batman and Robin series. It's brilliant and at least 400% better than the current series.
