Also, COMICS! May 2012 |OT| Officially Out of Ideas makes for a kickass title.

By the way, you need to buy Avenging Spider-Man. Holy fuckly that's a great book.

Well I mean the premise of their summer event is "So the Avengers are fighting the X-Men now". So, you know. Plus it's an industry-wide thing. DC's going back to the Watchmen well. There's some fucked up shit going on in the kingdom of Denmark's what I'm saying.

Ha, yeah.

No, I definitely see your point.

But when one of the best stories ever in comics has the log line "What if The Punisher was a Frankenstein" then you learn to never sell anything short.

I havent gotten the chance to read the newest USM stuff, but Bendis has done nothing but good work on USM for over a decade now which is pretty freaking impressive. How many comics can claim that consistency?

I've only recently gotten back into comics. I used to collect way back in the day but haven't read since. I used to read Batman, Detective series and other series like Gotham by Gaslight, The Dark Knight, Arkham Asylum.

I just signed up with Dark Horse Digital & ComiXology. So far I've bought:

The Eye of The World #1, #2
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #1, #2
The Walking Dead #1, #2.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice it is to read on the iPhone, I figured it'd be a nightmare. Anyway, hope to use these threads to introduce me to new/old comics.

Ultimate Spidey is still as good as it ever was. It's the one book he hasn't destroyed.

For me he has, anyway fuck Bendis and his lame ass ideas. Guy is running on fumes nowadays.

Bendis said:
. “For the 50th anniversary of Spider-Man, what everyone was looking for was a Spider-Man story that mattered. Well, here you go.”

Really Bendis ? Slott has been wrting the hell out of Amazing and Avenging has been great.

I'll probably pick it up too but would wait for TPB. Although if the hardcover is $13.59, how much cheaper would the TPB be?

I'm pretty sure Wolverine and the X-Men hardcover got announced in the Hatchet Guide initially as having issues 1-7 but then was later changed to 1-4. This is not going to be a good value, but a typical marvel "value" comparative to their 5 issue $24.99 hardcovers for 3.99 ongoing books.

Also, i didn't read that New Guardians #9 was crossing over with Blue Beetle, a book i don't read and didn't pre-order....a lot of crossovers from DC.

Congratulations Thief of Thieves fans! That glorified storyboard devised as a pitch for a movie or a TV show managed to do exactly that! COMICS, EVERYONE.
Weird, it's only on it's third issue lol

That was fast. I hope it turns out ok. Way too early to tell about this series for me; it's starting out ok but nothing has even happened yet. It would have made more sense to let it build a following first.

Agree, I think it's going to be a good story but after 2 issues you have so little to go on.

100 Bullets before this please. HBO or Showtime mini-series.

My comic reading has taken a backseat to Xenoblade addiction, but i did manage to finish Children's Crusade OHC and then migrate to Ultimate Comics X Origins by Loeb/Adams. Neither were especially good, but Ultimate Origins thing was surprisingly not terrible being a Loeb book.

SAAAAAAGAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

The Stalk is totally ridiculous! I love this comic so much! I want to read it all right now. :(

manhattan projects 1 - wish i has a first run of the first issue :( would anyone trade me one for a first run copy of the unwritten #1?

saga 2 is - as everyone is saying - so damn good. the stalk is super creepy. the will (and his lying cat) are destined to be amazing characters.

wolverine and the x-men 8 is awesome. only current super hero book i enjoy reading.

secret 1 - haven't read it yet.

Where's my Chew tv series at?

The casting would already be done for them!

Great end to Jason Aaron's Wolverine run this week. A lot of callbacks and tying up plots and ideas from the various stories over his run, while setting up characters in some interesting places after he's gone. The ending two pages are just perfect, too, to the point that I'll ignore how he just jobbed out his whole rogue's gallery.

After all these years, we'll FINALLY get a 616/Ultimate crossing featuring...Spidermen!

New York, NY—April 11, 2012—This June, it’s time for Peter Parker, better known as the Amazing Spider-Man, to cross worlds and meet Miles Morales...the all-new Spider-Man? Marvel is proud to announce Spider-Men, an all-new five issue landmark story from award-winning author Brian Michael Bendis (Avengers VS. X-Men, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man), red-hot artist Sara Pichelli (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man) and acclaimed cover artist Jim Cheung (Avengers VS. X-Men), which brings Peter Parker and Miles Morales together for the first time. That’s right, the Spider-Man from two different realities—the Marvel Universe and Ultimate Comics Universe—bring their worlds together for a battle no one web-head could win!

Story:

When Spider-Man tracks down one of his deadliest villains, he suddenly finds himself thrust into another world
where Peter Parker is dead
...and there’s a new Spider-Man in town. As these two heroes learn the truth about their identities and their universes, they’ll embark on a journey that’ll leave them forever changed—and reveal a startling truth about a key player in the Spider-Man mythos!

So this week:

Saga #1 - Book of the week hands down. Dialogue is great and the art knocks it out again.

Secret #1 - Good start, maybe Hickman will do something more grounded in reality for a change?

Conan #3 - Want to love this series because of the team, but I just can't get into it. Dropping.

Avenging Spider-Man #6 - Picked this up because of the Punisher crossover and loved everything about it. Runner up for book of the week.

From last week:

Fairest #2 - Phil Jimenez needs to draw a fill in issue of Fables, his stuff is damn good. Waiting to see where this goes, but the banter is entertaining as always.

Chew #25 - That last page! SO HYPE!

Also picked up Adventure Time #3 and enjoyed it, so I'll be trying to track down the previous 2 issues.

Is Batman & Robin good from the New 52 series? Not read a comic in years and fancy some Batman. Buying them on the Comics X iPad app.

"Batman" and "Batman and Robin" are both worth reading. Batman is generally more popular/well-liked.

Don't buy detective comics or the dark knight, they're both pretty bad.

If you want a batman spinoff, Batwing is the best one.

OMG, Scarlet Spider is the shit. Ryan Stegman is flat-out phenomenal. I don't think there's a single artist who draws action the way this man does. The way he utilizes splash pages, the transitions between actions, the constuction of the vertical or horizontal panels to emphasize the fast sudden movement(the zombie ninja fall or the horizontal speed panel for that crazy kick Kaine gives The Smithy), the way he builds up to an action then follows-through hard with the next driving home the impact, or the unique page layouts. All I can do is heap praises upon what this man does. Unbelievably good.

Spider-Men sounds like it could be pretty good, because Bendis has been doing a great Ultimate Spider-Man for a whole year already, and used to write it amazingly for several years. And despite his Avengers books sucking eggs, he always wrote a good Spider-Man character in them. But if Bendis had announced Avengers vs. Ultimate Avengers, I think I would have quit comics.

Nonooo, we wont bring back Peter in Ultimate Comics Spider-man, he will remain dead! But we will do a crossover with the 616 Peter Parker! *trollface*
