Just a shame that the series won't be in B&W. I love Samnee so much, but his B&W art is on another level. Who needs colors for this??

Also, Marvel need to hurry the fuck up and release the rest of Uncanny X-Force digitally. I want to read the whole thing like yesterday.

Late to this, but check out his work on Cap and Bucky. Bettie Breitweiser brings it to a whole new level. His stuff looks stunning with the right colors.

So I'm a month behind on DC and Batman going through the labyrinth on the iPad is just...

WHOA.

Crazy. I think that issue singlehandedly justified print comics forever.

Jim Lee's cover to Justice League #6 (Comic Book Resources)

The only good depiction of Darkseid that Lee has managed thus far... probably because you can't clearly see all of the sh*t alterations made to his appearance. Except for that bulbous red orb that's too high on his chest -- or too low on his chin?

"I wanted to create a cover which resonated with what I consider to be the most classic Darkseid story – namely the Great Darkness Saga – so that entailed the Justice League bowing down naturally to the power of Darkseid," Lee told the Source. "Except of course Batman who, despite not having powers, fights with all his strength in defiance."

Oh lawd. Bat haters just got handed a new gallon of fuel to throw on the fire.

David Mazzucchelli’s Daredevil Born Again: Artist’s Edition
Frank Miller (w) David Mazzucchelli (a & c)
Daredevil Born Again. That title strikes a chord with comic fans who know what it means. Fans who know that it represents two of the finest creators at the absolute peaks of their game. David Mazzucchelli's superhero work had reached an artistic apex when this series was released, and the same is true for Frank Miller's writing. Together they combined to craft a story of extraordinary impact that is still regarded as a true masterpiece.

Collecting the entire storyline of Born Again, this book will feature the complete issues of Daredevil numbers 227, 228, 229, 230, 231, 232 and 233, plus covers and extras. Each page was personally scanned by Mazzucchelli from his own original art. This is the largest Artist's Edition yet, weighing in at a rock solid 200 pages of beautiful Mazzucchelli art in the way you've always wanted to see it—the next bet thing to holding the actual original art!

I will own this

I had the morning off and decided to re-read Wolverine and the X-Men's first arc. It's even better the second time without waiting a month inbetween. This series. Every time I read another issue I just wonder why I'm buying other series.

Marvel.com is just the worst. They mixed up Stuart and Kathryn's roles as writer/artist. How can DC's blog be so clean and efficient and Marvel's is always a mess? Either way, that should be a great issue.

The best new thing to come out of those May solicts(besides OMGGGGG CHRIS SAMNEE ON DAREDEVIL) is we FINALLY get a New X-men Omnibus reprinting.

I want to buy this really bad but I have yet to pick up any omnibus and I'm a little frightened to try and actually read through one. I wouldn't just be buying it for a shelf. I need to read those stories and sitting around with a giant tome doesn't seem like a great way to do that.

My DD omnibuses have held up really well through 10+ readings. Even lent them out and still in good shape

Also, buying the shit out of the Artist's Edition

Not worried about the omnibus getting used up. More concerned about the comfort of holding a big, honkin book to read comics. I'm far too chill when I read comics to deal with mondo hardcovers.

Oh yeah, i read all my floppies on my couch or on the floor laying down.

I read most of them in my bed. Its the only way to read something like Walter Simonson's Thor. That shit could be used as a weapon in case anybody breaks into my home.

That's on my wishlist for later this year. How's the binding on that? And the re-coloring job?

Not necessarily pertaining to this week but after picking up the darkness 2 (awesome game btw), I started reading the darkness comics...holy crap are they awesome.

Get the Ultimate collections. There are three of them and I think they cover the entire run. Cheaper than the omni.

Not sure about the binding (although it hasn't failed on me yet) and the recoloring is really good.

Looking forward to DC Nation. My 3 year old loves Superfriends. I put in a Superfriends DVD every Sat. morning because there are no actual Saturday morning cartoons anymore. I remember waking up early on Sat. when I was like 5 to watch Superfriends because it only came on really early.

Man, I hate it when they make Batman creep down like that. It makes him look like such a sex offender.

"Ehm ehm, do you, er, want me to fix your bots, ehm, Diana?"

Fucking creeper.

Aquaman's clearly gettin' too old for this shit!

You mean like Ed Benes? I'd destroy her!

Just think, a large team of editors, writers, letterers, and artists looked at that panel in the context of the story and said, "yeah, this is great"

I picked up Simonson's Thor recently and I have the same problem as I do with the giant Sandman Absolute Editions. It's just so big and heavy. Makes it uncomfortable to read. Have to put a pillow on my lap just so it doesn't dig into my leg.

I have the same problem too. Omnibus/Absolute editions sure are pretty to look at but reading them can be uncomfortable especially since I don't have a desk area to lay them down on. At least Marvel has better binding.

That was the first Justice League comic I'd bought in a looong time. I bought it because I was on a JLU kick and thought if Dwayne McDuffie can write an enjoyable show he can do a kickass comic.

I was wrong. So very wrong.

You guys need to go to the gym and eat some protein.

I read the first three arcs of Punisher Max by Garth Ennis (just finished Mother Russia) on someone here's suggestion (sorry I forget who you were), and DAMN is this a good book! I love how political the plots are, and the way Castle is drawn (huge, massive tank of a human being) is pretty awesome. I love how The Punisher is not afraid to murder fuckers. I get sick and tired of superheroes who walk around not killing anyone, only to have the same person escape time and time again and cause thousands of casualties.

I also like how Ennis puts a lot of plot in each issue. It's similar to what I liked about Watchmen: a LOT happens in each issue, and you don't feel like the writer is just wasting space before getting to the Big Plot Point (TM). Awesome.

Glad you're enjoying it ilnadmy. The story arcs get formulaic(Bad guys are bad, beat/capture Frank Castle, Frank escapes and kills them), but they're so engaging, and nobody does better dialog then Ennis, so it doesn't matter too much. It's a pretty definitive run for the character.
