Darwyn Cooke Wonder Woman is Best Wonder Woman.
And of course...
Just went to the CBS to get my weekly haul. They had every issue of WatXM sitting out on the shelves so I picked up the first issue. I have high hopes given how much everyone on this thread has been orgasming about this series.
Hey Phonogram fans...
I'm not a Phonogram fan (it's not my music, my country or my scene), but I know a ton of people dig it. And I can't deny that McKelvie's a great artistic talent.

Also GREAT news, Venom Circle Of Four was solicited for an Oversized HC. The tie ins so far are dreadful, but this means we get Tony Moore's best work ever in big size. It was also have the preceding 4 issues which were great.
This man is a liar!
And Vixen in what can best be described as "aggressive doggie style"
Good shit, Ed Benes
Well, visually.
And also content-wise. But the next two should be great. Parker >>> Williams
I took a peek inside the newer Punisher issues at the CBS today, to compare them to Ennis' Punisher Max run that I'm currently reading.
EWWW. What happened to the art? What happened to the plot? Why is Castle fighting vultures in the skies of New York City? Mucho disappointed.

Man what terrible luck of the draw you have picking up the one issue where Punisher is fighting the vulture. I still have no idea what that issue has to do with the rest of that book but it's nothing like that.
They're using a different, better artist than you're used to -- Marco Checchetto.I took a peek inside the newer Punisher issues at the CBS today, to compare them to Ennis' Punisher Max run that I'm currently reading.

Not familiar with how Greg Rucka works? Slow build that works itself into a big bang, with strong characterization for the lead and supporting cast instead of cheap thrills. What happened to the plot?
Set in the 616 universe, where supervillains like Vulture exist (well, existed in his case), instead of the MAX Universe, which was Ennis's personal playground. Why is Castle fighting vultures in the skies of New York City?
It's a different animal than you're used to.Mucho disappointed.
Emphasize that Frank's world sometimes collides with the denizens of the 616 ? Rucka's probably the right person to ask , but I figure he wanted to highlight how Frank's war carries risks and consequences in a world populated with super powered bad guys.
hee hee superman is touching wonder womans buttWhat is wrong with Superman's face?
Vulture was hired to kill the Punisher. Simple as that.

Yeah the Exchange just hired a super-villain hit-man.
My general preference for Omnibus is about 25 issues. Not too big like Simonson with 1000+ pages, but a good meaty size.
Look at this fucking thing

Invisible Omnibus
All three volumes, plus extra
1500+ FUCKIN PAGES
THAT IS TOO GODDAMN BIG
BUT I'M STILL BUYING IT
FUCK ME
edit: On Absolutes, I only have two, Absolute Dark Knight, and Absolute All-Star Superman. I absolutely(dohoho) love those stories, and needed to have them in super oversized artwork style. Otherwise, I just don't love them enough to pay the full monty for a handful issues. Or, if its like, Absolute Final Crisis, I already have an oversized Deluxe HC of the event on my shelf, so it's not worth the double dip.
Visually they haven't been as good as Moore's issue, but I've liked em. Especially liked seeing Sana Takeda drawing X-23 again cause I miss that book.
That Ghost Rider one was atrocious. Pencils desperate for inks, no detail. Really shoddy stuff.

Considering art is a subjective thing, I much prefer the art in Ennis' Punisher MAX. It's a lot more gritty and earthen and raw than the stuff in Rucka's Punisher, where the art style looks like every other superhero book out there. I don't know if this makes sense, but the art style of Punisher MAX just seems so different than your typical Jim Lee-type art, which seems to be everywhere else (including Checchetto). MAX's Castle looked battered, beaten-up, and weary. This new guy looks young and handsome and sprightly, like he took a wrong turn off a Calvin Klein runway and found himself in the Marvel Universe.
I also like the fact that MAX Castle was a 700-pound gorilla. When he threw a punch, I flinched. What a bawss.
Lesbian Word is Bond.
Yeah, it wasn't great. Hey since you're reading that, tell me if you agree with this. When I finished the first issue where they introduced the Antitheses, X-666 (groan) and the brain monster were pretty obviously mirrors of X-23 and Hulk, but I was like 99% sure Ichor (which is Gods' blood) would be the opposite of Venom, and The Evangelist (Christian/Forgiveness) would be the opposite of the Spirit of Vengeance... Did I miss something, am I crazy, or did they totally fuck that up and switch the two around?
I REALLY hate the art for the Braddock storyline thats going on now. Its just a mess and the exact opposite of what X-Force has been.
new mutants scraping the barrel of old stories today with the return of....bird brain LOL
God I totally forgot about the face off. Feels like just yesterday Tony Daniel pulled it in Tec but it still made me giddy. Has Fantomex ever been seen without his mask on before? Does this count? lol
:lol i hate you <3
Louise Simonson and Bret Blevins may have been the worst comic book team to ever produce a monthly book.
And I say this knowing Loeb and Liefeld have collaborated.
Sorry to say but Birds of Prey was lost on me. I didn't care for the art which is that container line style that relies heavily on the colorist to save it. I do like how he draws faces, but overall - stop being racist and put some blacks on those pages.
