Which issues you read? 5 and 6 had a pretty lousy fill in artist. Jesus Saiz's stuff earlier was a lot better and used shadows. Not a ton. It's still a clean art style, especially in the faces, but it's still a whole lot better than the fill in guy who looks like he's tracing over Saiz's old shit.
So guys, really, what's up with Chris Samnee? He some kind of art god or something? Sell his soul to Satan? Ultimate Spidey 6 was amazing. 7 is some next level shit.
Yes, that is the usual effect. Even if you're not a big X-men fan who appreciates how it builds on continuity, its just a lot of fun.
Secret Avengers was very good this week. Great character piece for O'Grady, as a fuck-up trying to do the right thing for once in his life. He's the focus, but a lot of the team get their time to shine as well, like Venom's introduction to the team and Hawkeye's disapproval, or Hank picking the absolutely worst time for a speech about team morale. I still haven't got a really good bead on the badguys yet, but they have a very cool looking city that Hardman draws the hell out.
Really good stuff, it has definitely sold on Remender/Hardman for hopefully the long run, after this tie-in thing >_>
Although Moritat seems to be phoning in the art. I wonder how long it takes him to pump out an issue?
Going to need to swing by the alt shop tomorrow to get caught up to speed on Seeley's Witchblade run. Awe yeah boobies!
Seriously though, Seeley is doing a pretty nice job on the character. This is said after trying various writers and story arcs over the past year trying to get back into the character.
Well, technically, one thing, but any decent Marvel fan knows what the current state of the character is from that. Other than that can't think of anything. Honestly, all the character surprises shouldn't be a shock to any marvel fan
I mean, the school is named in Jean's memory after all and Colossus is alive

There was a Secret Avengers this week? Fuck, why didn't I see it at the store yesterday.
Aquaman and Justice League Dark were pointless this week. Stupid one-shots that were badly drawn and plotted. I'm going to stop buying one-shots from now on, not worth my time or money really.
I, Vampire was pretty interesting; some new, unexpected developments take place. Looking forward to the JLD crossover event next month. Mighty Thor was awesome, as usual. It's probably one of the most consistently good books that I've been reading, and I love the art.

This weeks WatXM was another treat from start to end. Bradshaw's stuff may be super cartoony but it is so detailed and fun. There's so much going on in every panel, and everyone looks like they're having such a grand old time of it. It all goes along with the tone of the book so well and it's a treat to read. I really hope that Marvel let this book continue to be this knockabout romp rather than getting all serious with it. I mean, I love me some X-Force but I wouldn't wait every book to have that tone. WatXM is really unique as it stands right now.
I looked up the preview for Aquaman #6 to see what all the Top 10 fuss is about... I'm still wondering. :\
Anyway, here's what I ended up getting this week:
Marvel Comics:
-Avengers Academy #26
-Fantastic Four #603
-New Mutants #37 (which didn't come out this week, but how did I miss Magma on a date with Mephisto?!?)
-Uncanny X-Force #22
-Wolverine and the X-Men #6
-X-Men Legacy #262
I'm thinking of dropping the Fantastic Four books from my pull list. Cosmic Marvel's never really been my thing (big ups for Infinity Gauntlet saga though), I missed Annihilation and War of Kings, and I just feel lost with all that's going on right now. It feels like the grand conclusion of something that I wasn't around to see begin.
On a stranger note, a few days ago I ventured into that Pony thread to post about S.B.F.F. being produced by the same lady responsible for My Little Pony. Then yesterday, the clerk at the comic shop hands me my new comics in a plastic shopping bag with Rainbow Dash on it.
I'm gonna miss Carey's wackadoo, high concept shit, but I love that Legacy is a B-reel for WatXM now. The characterizations are a little weird (how come Wolvie and Rogue are arguing so damn much? Is Gage gonna Schism our Schism?!) but I think that stuff will iron itself out as he gets used to his new roster.
I really want them to focus more on the school though even if it is the exact opposite of Carey's inter-dimensional/outer spacey stuff. Even if it's just a faculty book (which seems to be the case). More books at the Jean Grey School please and less transcontinental!

I read the Lady Gaga issue of B&V. Lady Gaga was on the right. Betty launched a solo career as Lady Baba and briefly became more popular than the Archies.

Great week. I enjoyed Aquaman, Wolverine and the X-Men good as always, Secret Avengers was much better than I was expecting. I thought the new Turtles was a little light on content again but eh, still good. Still think I'm going to drop Fantastic Four and FF after this arc is over and wait for the trades.
Oh, and Avengers Academy was so so. Didn't really stick out and not caring about Veil and her stupid costume left me not caring about this issue. Plus I already forget why everyone didn't like the super smart kid.
It's definitely not up to Carey levels yet, but like liquid! said I think the potential is there as a companion series to WatXM. Rogue did f*ck up pretty huge this week, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out in the next issue. It won't be pretty if there's a death, that's for sure.

Oh god this issue was TALKING HEADS TALKING HEADS TALKING HEADS TALKING HEADS TALKING HEADS. Have no idea what Gage was thinking, but that's not how you win people onto a book at the edge of cancellation.
All this talk about how awesome Secret Avengers is, I thought I missed an issue that came out this week. But you guys are just talking about the same issue #22 that came out two weeks ago, correct? Because if there is a new issue I MUST HAVE IT.

As I said before, the Marvel website is GOD AWFUL. The layout is atrocious, its a bitch and a half to find anything, and the release dates are constantly wrong.
