I don't understand the announcement but I'm ok with it
They are supposed to clear it up tomorrow....or something.
I just know I want my Jean back. And Scott dead.

Well sure, but her gimmick is she's the Phoenix. She comes back. She's one of the few in all of comics (besides Resurrection Man, and I-Man from the WCA) that this is ok for.
And Scott dead.
yeah that's what I want to move away from. In fact get the X-men away from Marvel Cosmic in general. But the opposite seems to be happening.
The best X-Men combines both. (See: WatXM, New X-Men, etc)
It should be said that Brevoort's been really, really adamant about Jean not being resurrected, so... don't get your hopes up about this being anything other than a fakeout.

That's, uh, not really a good comparison. I'm talking about what Brevoort's been saying in the past month or two, not something seven years ago.And the Ultimate Universe was never going to crossover.

People lie for the sake of story. Hell it could be true or ... His words mean little to me.
"OH I meant the other Jean, naturally"
I'm not taking it as gospel, just saying that it's best not to get your hopes up too high.

This October, one of the most notorious villains in comic book history is making his return to DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. In the new storyline, Death of the Family, The Joker will come out of the dark in a horrifying, unnerving, and huge way. And the grave consequences of his reemergence will be felt by not only the Bat-family, but by all of Gotham City.
He crippled Batgirl. He killed Robin. What will The Joker do next? And what must Batman do to protect his secret identity and that of those who fight alongside him? The adventure begins in BATMAN #13 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion.
Joker is my favorite villain of all time, Snyder told THE SOURCE. Not just in comics. In everything - film, books, TV. He's the greatest, hands down. So this story is something extremely important and personal to me - something I've been building in my head ever since I started working in Gotham. Basically, this is my big exploration of the Joker, my ARKHAM ASYLUM or THE KILLING JOKE, only bigger in scope. Bottom line: it's the biggest, baddest, most shocking Joker story I could tell. This is Joker completely unleashed. He has been away for a full year planning this revenge, watching, plotting, setting things up. And now he's back. He has his traps set, his knives sharpened... And wait 'til you see him. Greg's sketches literally gave me chills. Point blank: This is Joker like you've never seen him before. He has a mission. He has a secret. And he has a serious axe to grind with Batman. It isn't going to be pretty, but it's going to be a wild ride. Thanks for taking it with us.
When Scott told me that he'd written a Joker story for our next arc, I couldnt contain my excitement, added Capullo. Talk about a dream come true! For me, the Joker is the ultimate rogue and the villain I most wanted to draw. I gotta tell you, after hearing what the story is about, this isn't a dream come true. It's a nightmare! A macabre and bloody, flesh crawling nightmare. We hope you'll have the nerve to face what's coming. Warning: It ain't for the faint of heart!
BATMAN #13 hits stores on October 10th. But in the meantime, take an exclusive first look at Capullos promotional art for Death of the Family below.
"Things are being second guessed left and right, a case of too many chiefs, not enough Indians now. Whether it will work? Who am I to say. They want it to be like Hollywood, and it’s becoming like Hollywood, in producing comics, and what you have is a corporate room deciding where things are going to go... In the case of Superman they didn’t want a writer, they wanted a typewriter. They have to deal with people producing the movie, who also had a say in what’s going on in the comic as well. My one fear, I’m not producing a comic, I’m producing a storyboard for a movie, that’s not what I wanted to do.
...In doing World’s Finest, everything’s still being decided at the last minute. They needed a design for Power Girl, they didn’t ask me.They finally gave me the design, they needed to get it out solicitations, got it drawn, got it coloured, got it printed in the solicitation, they called me a week later, we changed our mind on the Power Girl costumes, so now I have to do a patch on the first issue cover and for a mercenary, practical and financial point of view, I just lost the resale value on my artwork, because now the character’s not the same character that appears on the cover and they screwed me out of that, and I shouldn’t have to be thinking about that but you guys really have to make up my minds!
When an artists like Dan Jurgens, one of the fastest most professional in the industry, when I was working with him on Teen Titans, he was always he was three months ahead of schedule... On Green Arrow, he was basically trying just to make the deadline and not be late, because kept changing their mind on the stories.

I just have a problem with the "it was posted by other websites, so it's not a spoiler" attitude.
There are a lot of places I avoid because they are known for that stuff. I'm not gonna start avoiding this thread as well, but I will disagree with anyone who says it's fair game to post those things here without marking them.
Dude. Snyder can do super fucked up. Read The Black Mirror. He can write the shit out of the Joker. So what are the odds on this newly reborn Joker being less "homicidal mad dog in desperate need of being put down," and more someone sustainable who doesn't completely undermine Batman's position with his increasingly reprehensible actions?Probably zilch I'm guessing.
EDIT: Reading the article, I'm probably right on those odds.
So I'm pretty new to comics but the new 52 is confusing me. So its a reboot but everything that happened before happened? Like Batman has only been active for 5 years now but has had all the robins AND had his son? Wat.
oh FFS let her stay dead!
anyway, Amy Reeder has a kickstater for a one-shot comic she is doing with Brandon Montclare called Halloween Eve.

Yeah, you basically have to accept that the reboot is a clusterfuck of "pick and choose" continuity that doesn't add up, and enjoy the stories without worrying about it too much.
New 52 was the final straw for me and DC. Continuity matters to me and they've always been really serious about it in theory but always end up making you go wat.
Yeah, the use of the original costume strongly implies that if this isn't a flashback, it's just a clone/time travel/alternate-reality version who ends up in the present-day 616, and not an actual resurrection. But I guess we'll see.
What else besides Heart have you enjoyed recently? Can you guys give me some suggestions? I'm looking to get into some Marvel and DC series but I'm open to reading anything. I was thinking about starting Batman but I don't know where to start. I was thinking of starting with Morrison's run but my brother told me to start with Snyder. He also told me to check out Uncanny X-Force and Wolverine and the X-Men. I bought the first volume of UXF to try it out.

It’s big.

TTOB, are there any independent comics that a truly horrific? I am really looking for something in comics form because films stories are stale and lifeless. I haven't found Walking Dead, Locke and Key or anything else truly horrific.
