Pretty sure the whole point of AvX is to fuck with every single building block WatXM had in place, so fully expecting Jean to come back so even the school's damn name is out.

No such thing as spoilers in comics because every Big Two story is just a tired rehash of something already done 10-30 years ago.

When Snyder was teasing his villain for his next big arc, I was kinda hoping it'd be a lesser used one. Oh well. Did Detective not do anything with Joker after his face turned up? I don't intend on reading any of that.

So what are the odds on this newly reborn Joker being less "homicidal mad dog in desperate need of being put down," and more someone sustainable who doesn't completely undermine Batman's position with his increasingly reprehensible actions?
Probably zilch I'm guessing.

In other news, we get a little more talk from George Perez about his experiences with DC's New 52:

"Things are being second guessed left and right, a case of too many chiefs, not enough Indians now. Whether it will work? Who am I to say. They want it to be like Hollywood, and it’s becoming like Hollywood, in producing comics, and what you have is a corporate room deciding where things are going to go... In the case of Superman they didn’t want a writer, they wanted a typewriter. They have to deal with people producing the movie, who also had a say in what’s going on in the comic as well. My one fear, I’m not producing a comic, I’m producing a storyboard for a movie, that’s not what I wanted to do.

...In doing World’s Finest, everything’s still being decided at the last minute. They needed a design for Power Girl, they didn’t ask me.They finally gave me the design, they needed to get it out solicitations, got it drawn, got it coloured, got it printed in the solicitation, they called me a week later, we changed our mind on the Power Girl costumes, so now I have to do a patch on the first issue cover and for a mercenary, practical and financial point of view, I just lost the resale value on my artwork, because now the character’s not the same character that appears on the cover and they screwed me out of that, and I shouldn’t have to be thinking about that but you guys really have to make up my minds!

When an artists like Dan Jurgens, one of the fastest most professional in the industry, when I was working with him on Teen Titans, he was always he was three months ahead of schedule... On Green Arrow, he was basically trying just to make the deadline and not be late, because kept changing their mind on the stories.

I hate spoilers, and anything Marvel/DC go out of their way to spoil i have no chance of avoiding unless i abandon the internets inbetween every dcbs monthly shipment.

There are a lot of places I avoid because they are known for that stuff. I'm not gonna start avoiding this thread as well, but I will disagree with anyone who says it's fair game to post those things here without marking them.

It's usually Newsarma/Bleeding Cool massive spoilers on the front page that get me, then random threads at cbr forums that have nothing to do with the spoiler, then this thread.

I guess it's the difference between "front page news" and "spoilers about issue #5 of a book that came out". When it's front page news and not an actual issue specific thing, i can see why people talk about it without spoiler markings. It's too big to cover up!

Dude. Snyder can do super fucked up. Read The Black Mirror. He can write the shit out of the Joker.

So I'm pretty new to comics but the new 52 is confusing me. So its a reboot but everything that happened before happened? Like Batman has only been active for 5 years now but has had all the robins AND had his son? Wat.

Well we don't know how long Batman has been active, but he's definitely younger than his pre-reboot self. Also, not all the books are supposed to take place at the same time, the first arc of Justice League was set in the past and was basically their origin story with their first meeting.

Some things from before still "happened" and some things are gone, but I would advise you just enjoy the stories on their own merit and not try to have everything "fit" in your head

Yeah, you basically have to accept that the reboot is a clusterfuck of "pick and choose" continuity that doesn't add up, and enjoy the stories without worrying about it too much.

I'd like to back the Amy Reeder kickstarter project Halloween Eve but my comic expenses are too high and it's $10 for a 40 page comic....that's a lot. A lot a lot. It's a toss up, but it definitely looks interesting. Why no cheaper digital option?

New 52 was the final straw for me and DC. Continuity matters to me and they've always been really serious about it in theory but always end up making you go wat.

TTOB, are there any independent comics that a truly horrific? I am really looking for something in comics form because films stories are stale and lifeless. I haven't found Walking Dead, Locke and Key or anything else truly horrific.


Also, I did bite on Black Spiderman today, got the 2nd trade and will pick up the next two issues on Wednesday.

I understand your frustration but at the same time, you can't expect 70 year old characters to maintain a continuity. New 52 doesn't make a lot of sense, but it still makes more sense than the idea that every Batman story out there actually happened.

Can you guys give me some suggestions? I'm looking to get into some Marvel and DC series but I'm open to reading anything. I was thinking about starting Batman but I don't know where to start. I was thinking of starting with Morrison's run but my brother told me to start with Snyder. He also told me to check out Uncanny X-Force and Wolverine and the X-Men. I bought the first volume of UXF to try it out.

Some of the folks here had suggested Astonishing X-Men to me and it was an absolute blast to read! The omnibus is pretty affordable on Amazon too, about $47 for the hardcover.


Also SQUEEEE about the Batman news! Now that's exciting :D

I'd look into the Creepy Archives. The classic horror stuff has some really great and atmospheric stories, it's not all modern gore porn crap.

Epic Illustrated if you can find it also had some stories that scared the crap out of me.

If you want to go full on nuts - Faust from Dave Quinn and Tim Vigil. It may not be conventionally scary, but it set the bar for all the shit Avatar craps out.
