I've only read All Star Western so far, I'll probably have to go back too.

Is Sex any good? I feel weird buying any comic that comes shrink wrapped.
First issue was pretty cool, have the second to read when I have time. The lettering is really cool.

It wasn't shrink wrapped at my shop.

Edit: ElNarez doesn't like it so of course it's worth a shot. Give it a try rafa!

I liked the second issue better than the first for what it's worth. It's got enough DKR/Watchmen in its DNA to be kind of interesting, I think.

Really? I found it to be pointlessly meandering. Like, sure, you have lesbians getting it on and a guy talking about all the cool shit he once did. But the idea of the Superhero as sex fantasy has already been explored in Watchmen and killed in Flex Mentallo. There's nothing Casey can add on the discussion, and the story he wants to tell didn't sound particularly interesting from the bits and pieces there were in issue #1.

Good thing some people aren't as cynical as you.

Umbrella Academy is half off at dark horse digital, fantastic book.

Read the start of Aaron's stay angry hulk, not a huge fan of dillon's art but the story was fun enough.

I was whining a bit about the death of Wildstorm (though it's actually been dead for a while, like Vertigo) over the course of the New 52 and a big part of that for me is Sean Phillips and Joe Casey on Wildcats. The second issue feels a bit like that I think? I also really like Miller's Dark Knight and Casey is tapping into that, but he's not really into the same stuff Miller is.

Gerard Way is writing a mini based off the Killjoys album with art by Becky Cloonan in june. pretty pumped.

believe there is a free comic book day prologue next month

Are there any essential Jonah Hex stories to read? I just ordered the first volume of All Star Western.

Huge Jonah Hex fan here ;)
As far as Jonah Hex goes, you can read the original classic stories that are collected in DC Showcase: Jonah Hex
Then read the pre-Nu52 series which is fantastic, mainly anything by Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti

If you want some animated Jonah Hex, he was featured in a few Batman Brave and the Bold episodes, but get the Superman and Shazam BluRay/DVD as it has a short feature starring him along with an episode that starred him from the 90s Batman cartoon.

Thanks for this post. Is it easy for me to figure out the order of the preNew 52 stuff because there seems to be a lot of trades? I'm surprised DC has kept the me writing team on the character for so long.

Ah for the most part all of Jonah's stories are Stand alone! So if you pick up a random TPB, you won't have any difficulty enjoying the stories =)
Even IF they mention a past event from a previous story it isn't a big deal, but if you want a reading order:

All caught up on Fatale, it's definitely a different book, sort of reminds me of Morning Glories in that i feel like i'm always not being told enough of the story to keep me fully interested, yet i'm intrigued enough to continue reading. It's good stuff, check out the first trade. I'd say it's weaker as a story than his criminal work but I enjoy the creepiness of Fatale more.

so in Batman & Robin 19,
what kind of sessions was Carrie Kelly giving damian
?

If we assume that the note from "CK" in B&R #18 is actually "Carrie Kelley" then it has something to do with movies. Or maybe acting?

Slightly off topic; Read a cool article about B&R #19. The check that Bruce gives Carrie is Check #1986, the year that The Dark Knight Returns debuted. Cute easter egg.

God damned The Ultimates 2 was so much radder than I remember.

Holy shit.

One of my first comics...those were some good days. People gripe about it being too cheesy but i loved it. Didn't like any of the recent Ultimate Millar work though which felt a little too "extreme".

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Oooh, I think I might have to buy some Marvel in July. Always wanted to read these, and I do love me some Jack Kirby.

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
As someone who basically hasn't read comics since around 1994, Todd McFarlane's negative influence on comic book writing is staggering.
I remember how annoyed I was by his approach to writing Spider-Man, which was to come up with one thin story idea and stretch it out for five or six issues, (with copious amounts of splash pages and two-page spreads as well) rinse, repeat.
That approach is universal now. It's amazing how little happens in comics these days. I'm loving a lot of what I'm reading, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Caught up on Superior Spider-Man thanks to a friend. It's...okay. Every issue feels the same: Ock does something, Peter freaks out, Ock's scheme work, Peter continues to freak or is impressed. Rinse and repeat. It's decent, but I don't see myself hopping back on the Spider-Man train.

Just read Saga #12. Have they said specifically how long it'll be until #13? Probably August or September?

Also, as far as what happened,
intense shit! The writer should have just let Robot IV leave. I was pretty excited to see the return of the alligator butler too. I figured he was a one-off kind of character. Great art as always.

Black Beetle sold me on the mystery/noir stuff. I'll be picking this up for sure.

I'm the opposite, I gave up on Y the Last Man around the third story arc, but BKV is really clicking with me on Saga(slow-ass pacing and SHOCKING DIALOG/TITALITION aside)

Y is fucking terrible and I'm a dude who read the entire thing. It's such an obnoxious comic.

Saga isn't my favourite thing every month but it's leagues better.

"Obnoxious", there's a good word for it, specifically Yorick. Holl hell, what a self-righteous little shithead manchild of a protagonist

Thank you.
I read the whole damn thing, and the guy is a huge prick.

Today, I picked up the Scott Pilgrim #1 release in color.
It looks swell, and the colors really add to the material.

Just read through the first several issues of Young Avengers and IDW's Ninja Turtles. Both have been pretty enjoyable so far, and Gillen's writing on the former wasn't as entirely awkward as some seemed to make it up to be. Still have Fearless Defenders and Saga to burn through.
