that freaking cliffhanger!!! Are you sh*tting me?!? I'm still thinking (hoping?) that it's Angel, though, and not Jean. Hell, it might be Beast; he's been fairly quiet on all of this. Uncanny ships next week, right? So we'll see this issue from their team's perspective, get some insight into what the Cuckoos are cooking up (maybe they're the moles, not one of the O5; the way Kitty and Logan were looking at each other on that last page has me thinking something's up), and maybe at the very end see which one goes over. Only downside was Immonen's artwork, it seemed a little rushed and his Wolverine just looks... weird now. I get that he's trying to make him look feral, but come on -- he looks worse than Beast!

Haven't read anything else yet.

ANXM 10: That fucking cliffhanger! It felt way too short, I need more.

Deadpool 7: I died. I just couldn't stop laughing.

SSM 7:
Cardiac
is awesome, everyone should just leave his ass alone and let him do what he's doing. Man's doing more good than the Avengers. Also I need the next issue now, another chapter that just felt too short. Need more.

Venom 33: Nothing new or exciting going on here. Sort of solid, but I'm not feeling this new direction. May drop it if this keeps up, I miss Reminder.

Thanos Rising: Subverted a trope I thought it would embrace, other than that it was just ok. Not great, but ok.

Haven't read Batman Inc or Hulk yet, doing that later.

If I read another mediocre Jeff Lemire comic I think I am going to shoot myself. Maybe I'll check out his OGNs sometime but I am done with this dude's work for hire shit.

That's how i feel about Justice League Dark atm, what did it for you? Lemire was initially enjoyable on JLD but then i lost favor with it quickly. Dropped it after issue #19 of pre-orders.

DCBS updated to April pre-order books now.....have to decide on Superman Unchained and Batman/Superman without certainty of their pricing. Will batsupes be ~20 pages for 3.99 as listed? Superman Unchained 4.99 for ~30 pages? Though Supes Unchained comes with a poster.....

Tangent: FF #3 was amazing and i have #4 to read right now. In the words of Birdie, COMICS! I'm going back to my pre-Bendis-ruining-everything Marvel days ( before Secret Invasion and the 3.99 price jump ) where i only buy a few DC books and a lot of Marvel.

Please be more specific.

I adore his creator-owned stuff. Sweet Tooth, Essex County, The Underwater Welder, The Nobody, Lost Dogs, etc.

I've read the first two volumes of Animal Man of his DC stuff, but I've enjoyed that. Oh, and the first volume of Frankenstein was fun. As the trades come out, I'll probably try most of his other books. I'm iffy on Justice League Dark, however, because I really disliked that first Milligan arc.

ANXM:
Agree that the art looked rushed. That it was a Bendis standing around talking issue didn't help in the art dept. Needed more lurid poses of Lady Mastermind. Odds on defector: Jean 1/3, Angel 2/1, Beast 5/1.

I think Green Arrow sealed the deal for me. It's not just GA though - I didn't read much Animal Man past the second issue because even though a lot of people were high on it at the time (pre-Rotworld), it didn't do anything for me and JLD was pretty bad. I guess tbf, Milligan (who is a dude I really adore at times) dropped the ball on that too.

Anyways, his first Green Arrow issue didn't send me but it was fine. It didn't kick my ass like Hawkeye did, but that's just an unfair comparison, right?. Besides, he's just doing the TV show in comic form.... right?

Not really. It's just boring, Scott Snyder-style cryin' about MY DAD comics with a lot of words words words. Andrea Sorrentino tries sometimes to hide the wordiness but you can only do so many fancy layouts to make this shit sort-of exciting.

Since today was a light day, I decided to pick up Ultimate X-Men after a recommendation from a friend. WOW. It's actually good again. Of course the book gets better after I drop it.

This Utopia story is so much better than the regular universe version.
And Jean Grey is a psycho, I love it.

Right? It's like, instead of having the X-Men sit on their dicks for 5 years waiting for something to give, they're doing something with the endangered species thing.

Ended up buying more today than I thought I would.

Superior Spider-Man #7
Deadpool #7
All-New X-Men #10
Glory #34
Uber #0
Ultimate Comics X-Men #25
Age of Ultron #4
Locke & Key Omega #4
Thanos Rising #1

Also, as it relates to Avatar Press, most especially concerning the Crossed series... I've flipped through an issue here and there, and I have to ask. Is there any real substance to the series aside from ridiculous amounts of gore and terrible dialogue?

Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest were pretty good today. I was actually surprised by Worlds' Finest. I wasn't sure what to expect but the new artists are pretty good and the reveal at the end is certainly something I look forward to seeing in the next issue. In fact, both had pretty great last pages.

Edit: Oh, the artists did Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes. No wonder they seemed familiar to me.

That
'under normal circumstances' bit really makes me feel it's gonna be Jean as a 'double agent', but it could just be misdirection.

Kind of souring on it a little bit. It's kind of just too over the top at this point. Ock is so one note.

Between the trade solicit last week and the ad I'm currently seeing on CBR, looks like DC has (un)officially outed that Morrison and Burnham are getting an extra issue on Inc. Ad shows an image of Bruce and says "Morrison Burnham Requiem The epic storyline concludes in Batman Inc 9-13"

I'm a bit behind because I only pickup my stash once a month, but I'm really enjoying Deadpool. It's so random and idiotic, each issue feels like one of those dreams you have when you eat soo many slice of cheese before going to bed.

I can't say I was a fan of some aspects of Quitely's work in New X-Men (faces mostly), but I'm reading Batman and Robin right now and his art is damn excellent, I wish he did more than three issues (not that the following artists aren't good from what I checked). He was also amazing in WE3. A lot of detail and precision, and there's a certain "weight" to his pieces that I really appreciate. All-Star Supes is next on my queue after I finish the Morrison bat books.

Nice! The art in that book is fantastic! If you decide you want more, Flex Mentallo should be next after that.
Also worth noting, Quitely is drawing Jupiter's Legacy for Image and that comes out this month too.

Good to know! Definitely reading Flex Mentallo as I only hear good things about it, I knew it was written by Morrison but didn't know it was Quitely doing the art too.

I kept waiting for Spock to
have a deeper plan for Cardiac to swerve on Peter's assumptions but nope. Just a crazy person. Sigh.

Venom and Winter Soldier are still the best of the bunch. Winter Soldier is Skyfall to Hawkguy's Justified.

Otto sucks at being spider-man worse than Peter, something I didn't know was possible. Kaine is the only Spider-Man worth a shit.

god, why don't they just put her in that tuxedo inspired top and fishnet stockings. its not even hard to dress zatanna. always trying it with shitty costumes, DC.

Bane's design is one thing. I want to see them write him as the competent villain he is. This was a guy who was smarter than most gave him credit for, even Ra's underestimated how educated the man was. Plus Bane was the guy who figured out Batmans ID and a way to take him down. Sadly since then he was written as a muscle bound wrestler and not much more. The movie gave him the first nice boost in awhile even as other media still made him look like a third rate bad guy ie: See his Young Justice appearance.

If you haven't checked out his appearances in the old Birds of Prey you might like him there. He is not written like a mindless brute.

"Dopey Costumes" Comics, am I right?

It's like, for a year and a half they tried really hard to come up with new not silly or terrible costumes, and there was progress there, but now they have to go back to the shitty old costumes because you gotta give nerds their boners or some shit. Fuck.

It reminds me of George Perez's Zee:

In fact it's almost identical. The new one has more cleavage and fishnets, but the lines and basic style are pretty much the same.
Yep, first thing I thought of too upon seeing it. They attempted to marry her Silver Age costume with her (pre-New52) Modern Age costume. I wanna see it colored.

Stormwatch was pretty terrible. I used to love Starlin but I haven't read anything decent from him in about 10 years. I may try the next issue since this was just setting things up but I have very very low expectations.

You mean where he had a mad crush on BC and she kicked him in the balls?

Or how about SS where the guy did not know how to act around women at all and wasn't really clever at all, granted he was written better than he had been in years....but it wasn't saying much.

Im done with Age of ultron issue 4 was utter crap. and i LIKED 1-3.

on the other hand Simonson on thor was the bees knees

i think its Iceman for some reason but its probably jean

Swamp Thing #19 was a nice jumping on point this week, with a new creative team that gets it. Rotworld was pretty bogged down by the end, this felt fresh.

Action Comics #19: Tony Daniel is so good and I really like how he draws Superman. Too bad it looks like he's done after three issues because this issue was full of action!

Phantom Stranger #7: It's great to see a "superhero" comic deal with religion and supernatural stuff. I like where the title is headed, one of the weirder books I read but I'm enjoying the build up. Can't wait to see how this ties into the Pandora title.
If Trinity War incorporates theological ideas and faith, that'll be more interesting then just some "big bad" everyone has to take down.

I also like the gatefold covers DC is putting out this month. It's a gimmick, but a cool one.

What about those weird-as-fuck boots they gave Supergirl?

And the fishnet sleeves were absolute ass.

Well Starlin said it would take about a dozen issues for him to get going.... I kid you not.

What's that Supergirl costume from? Not her nu52 series right? Or an appearance in another what the 52 title? The costume looks better in her main book.

Pfft, that's because Slott is deliberately making him annoying. Look at Ends of the Earth, and compare Spidey - and how people perceive Spidey - to fucking Ghost Peter.

Otto is only interesting because it's essentially a new character interacting with an established universe. But his character is indeed one note. It's really just "let's see how arrogance works with this character and this situation." It's all dark side all the time.

Peter had different interactions with different people, people who he's definitely wanted to kill and yet decided not to for his own purposes. Losses, breaking points and an actual dark side.

Otto just does the same thing every issue. There's no wake-up call, there's no shake-ups... just arrogance. The same one-note character he's been since he was a villain.

Osborn would have been more interesting.
