Good. In a bit of a slump atm, IMO, but still good. Art game is on point, and the character writing is still pretty great, but plotwise it sort of feels like its been spinning its wheels for a few issues now. Hopefully it'll regain traction soon.
EDIT: Vol 1. is basically magic, tho, so definitely go for that if you're considering it.
Only read Vol. 1 so far, but it's awesome. Super fun read with fantastically charming art IMO. Also, Maps is the best.

Could be way better. Especially for a lot of the hype and stellar reviews it's gotten. It's solid & charming but not a super page turner/must read.
I do still have to read issues 7 & 8 though. So maybe it's picked up.

Look, at this point it's Kate and Mags. Renee needs to find someone else. Thankfully, it appears that every woman in Gotham, except maybe Babs (But hey, it's a reboot so who knows!), likes women so at least she has plenty of options.

Have you read the rest of Morrison's run? You won't get as much out of it as you would if you've read Batman & Son, The Black Glove, and RIP. Which are all very much worth reading, by the way.

Ah okay cool. Well even if you don't revisit it, since you have a general sense of what happened you'll enjoy it either way. Though you'll probably catch some little callbacks if you do reread again.

At first I missed the fact that you said "Morrison-created BATMAN villain" and I immediately thought to myself "Somebody definitely hasn't read Doom Patrol."
Doom Patrol had the all-time greatest villains.
Kipp is so bored at work that he's at the point where even talking about comics is some relief.

I waffled around on that for a bit and actually just went with the hardcovers for that. I semi-regret it while at the same time I'm terrified of falling down the Absolute hole given how much I already spend on (but tend not to mention here) on comics. It wasn't helped by looking at my Kabuki Library Edition and being reminded how ridiculous Marvel's and DC's prices are.
How did you manage to start Doom Patrol and not finish it? Even I of all people couldn't stay away from Doom Patrol once I started it. Every day I woke up excited that I got to read more Doom Patrol.
I feel you man. I hope one day I can get past the initial hump of first getting into comics where I finally have read through at least the very best runs. Right now there are so many comics that are extremely well-liked and I know I'd love that I just haven't gotten to yet.
Okay, yeah, you definitely just need to start from the beginning and read the whole Morrison Batman run from start to finish then.
That's fair enough. Burnham is one of my all-time favorite artists, so it was a no-brainer for me.

...At David Mack's table at SDCC right in front of David Mack after telling him what a huge fan I am of his art. And after telling him that I don't have Kabuki yet and I've been definitely meaning to buy it. And then walking away from his table without buying anything because I couldn't bear to pay cover price when I knew I could get it for 42% off on IST.
Maybe the guiltiest I've ever felt for not buying something.
He also asked me what I've read that had his art in it after I told him he's one of my favorites and it was like a deer in the headlights moment. I was like "OH SHIT WHAT HAVE I READ WITH HIM IN IT." And I was like "Uuuhhhh... I read Alias, and your art was amazing. And... uh... I feel like I've read something else you were in too... But uh... I mean, I've seen tons of your art and stuff posted online and it's all amazing."
After both of those things, I felt like the worst David Mack fan on earth. He was a super nice guy though. And somehow there was nobody else at his table. People must be intimidated by top-tier artists or something.
