It's the "Marvel was wrong about diversity, but doesn't want to piss off the SJWs" that always does it for me.
All of these rumors are always about how editorial is always having crazy issues in addition to Bendis and/or Slott being huge problems before they sprinkle in some random stuff. People look at those things and say they find it believable, so they give merit to the rest.

It's like a fucking bingo game where they constantly check off all the same spaces, but since the rumors coincide with what people want to believe is true, they take it at face value.

http://nerdist.com/how-will-marvel-resolve-the-hydra-captain-america-story/
The first thing to remember is that the Marvel multiverse as we knew it was destroyed in Secret Wars. Some of the alternate worlds have returned or been restored by Reed and Susan Richards, but not the Ultimate Universe. You may have noticed that there have been a lot of refugees from the Ultimate Universe in the new MCU, like Miles Morales, Jimmy Hudson, and the creepy/evil Reed Richards known as the Maker. But what if the biggest refugee was in front of us all along?

That's right, we think that Hydra Cap is none other than Ultimate Captain America. He may even believe that he is our Captain America, but he's really not our Steve Rogers. Considering that there's a second Steve Rogers running around in the MCU, that's not very far fetched at all. It could even be an elegant way of getting the real Cap absolved of the atrocities committed in his name by Hydra Cap. It would also set up an epic Cap vs. Cap fight to close out the event.

huh.

Not only that, but it would be unsatisfying, and it would fuck with the themes and ideas of Spencer's Cap run in the shittiest way.

(The answer is of course that there's no way to walk back Nazi Cap, which is why it never should've been done in the first place.)

Look, this story was always going to end up garbage. Better to close this tirefire out by doing some dumbass "actually Cap's evil twin from another dimension" copout than the original subtext, which wasn't just stupid but actively harmful.

The way I understood the Cap in the forrest was a representation of Steve fighting through the Hydra changes but it isnt actually a real person. Its just in his mind...maybe im wrong.

I don't see the point of this. Spencer already pre-emptively absolved him of his crimes by making him Hydra with a cosmic cube.
Pretty much, but there will likely still be consequences for the character.

That's my guess.

4 books enter the IST purchasing ring. Only one will survive. You must keep in mind the likelyhood of it being in stock helps its chances of being picked. But also quality of book matters. I want opinions.

1. Birds of Prey Classic Vol 3 (Dixon, Land, Simone?)
2. Tank Girl Gold (Brett Parson, last part of his lovely tank girl trilogy)
3. Hulk Vol 1 Deconstructed (Read it, but would like to own a copy)
4. Amazing Spider-Man - The Gauntlet Vol 5 Lizard (Bachalo drawn story 'Shed')

FIGHT

They will join

Birthright Vol 5
Shade The Changing Girl Vol 1
Curse Words Vol 1
Clean Room Vol 3 (I don't know why, I hated the other 2 but I guess i need to see it though)
Justice League Rebirth DLX Vol 1 (Go away I like Tony Daniel :( )

Do you know if Simone is in this volume?

Btw its so odd seeing Lands art in the first two volumes and its.... actually not too bad tbh. He seemed to make an effort. It makes the current stuff that much more of a letdown.

No, I think it was all Dixon. But he's the greatest Bat family writer of all time, so that's good. It would be awesome if they keep this set of trades going past Dixon though, and include Simone's stuff.

And yeah, it's kind of crazy. Land was pretty great.

continuing my read of War of Kings, finished kingbreaker just now

yknow, all these years seeing segments of comigaf hate on vulcan and the odd scan, i (somehow) got the impression that dude was Space Namor, by which i mean "an asshole, sure, but there is a whole lot more in there"

the clue that that wasn't the case was as obvious as noticing that he's a havok antagonist, really. Nothing good could come of that. Aint no way in hell that a dude that's gonna get clowned repeatedly by Alex Summers could ever be a decent antagonist.

so far Gabriel really is just the embodiment of Summers Family Issues. Like, i thought havok already had that niche covered. Nope. Not even close.

Bargain Bin Space Creature From The Black Lagoon is pretty legit tho
My issue with Gabriel is the story that creates him. Though I haven't read all of it (I snagged an issue or two back in the day), the aftermath is enough to judge it on these merits alone (obviously I can't judge the story itself). Not only does it assassinate Xavier's character far more than any storyline before it (barring maybe Danger) by having him commit the single most evil act he's ever committed, Vulcan himself is the single greatest piece of shit ever. An Omega-tier mutant who had the shittiest upbringing and became the biggest, whiniest piece of shit EVER. There's zero redemption there. ZERO. And I don't need my villains to be sympathetic and have possibly redemptive arcs and personalities, but they need depth and there's nothing to him that interests me there. He had the shittiest life possible and therefore became the shittiest person ever. He has zero Summers in him, so it's completely nurture and no nature and therefore that dichotomy is already solved. He's morally repugnant to the highest level.

You compare him to Namor, but Namor was a hero. His been a dick, but he's also been a hero. He's respected and genuinely cared for his people (as well as some others). He's had a strong arc over the decades. Vulcan just popped up and then Black Bolt nuked his ass into another universe. Vulcan has no pathos.

Tl;dr Vulcan is the worst.
X-Force V3 was a waste of time. In a run of 27 issues, like six weren't event crossovers.
Which X-Force? If it's not Kyle and Yost, Remender, or Spurrier then I haven't read it.
Gotta love the bastard
The event is going to end with this not being the "real" Steve, but it's not going to be some alternate universe Steve.
They've been bringing in increasingly more and more Ultimate and alternate universe characters. It wouldn't surprise me.

Deathstroke is trying to fool himself into being a noble hero?

It's an interesting question.

His whole thing this issue was
engineering a hostage crisis in a US embassy
so by any reasonable standard, "hero" is definitely pushing it, but he might be trying to do what his idea of a hero is. Remember how he narrated Batman's actions?

I think that he thinks that he's changed, but events will show that ultimately he really hasn't

Secret Warriors 4 spoilers:

Holy shit, Taskmaster fucking dismantled Karnak. That was so much more one-sided than I expected and I couldn't be happier about it.

Saw some spoilers for the casting and looks like we are going full Batman Morrison.

True, but Taskmaster's still recovering from nearly a decade of getting the jobber treatment. It's only recently he's started getting good showings again.

Victor Gischler? Did fall in 2009-2011 era Marvel?

It's either that or Cap pushes through it with sheer moxy.

See also: Superman is the classic Superman and the new Superman because he was multiple Supermen and stuff.

Comics, folks.

Have you all listed your top favorite series (plural) of all time recently? To make it easier, you don't have to worry about order. Just list 5-10 of your favorites.

I'm not very good at ranking favorites but:

Young Avengers (Gillen/McKelvie)
Ultimate Spider-Man
Runaways
Immortal Iron Fist
Hawkeye
Astonishing X-Men
Vision

Books/Runs that are still on going, but are probably on the list:

Giant Days
Aaron's Thor run
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

Has lorna always been able to break the fourth wall?

Let's go!

Astonishing X-Men (Whedon)
Locke & Key
Kingdom Come
Secret Six (Simone; 2008)
X-Men (1991) #188-199, Annual #1 (this is the first chunk of Mike Carey's run, which is all absolute perfection)

There are more than likely enough to make a top 10, but those came off the top of my head, so that's what's sticking for now. Like, for example, there are runs I could say are my favorites, but I haven't finished them, so I can't say that for sure. Such as Nightwing (Dixon) and X-Men (Mike Carey). There's also plenty of ongoings like I Hate Fairyland, Rat Queens, Detective Comics, Superman, and ROM that I'd put up there, but since they're ongoings I feel like that'd be cheating.
