COMICS!!! |OT| March Harley Quinn does the Banana Splits

Bendis OML #5

He ends up in a normal looking NYC where all the X-Men are around. Gets to meet his son Jimmy Hudson? Then Emma Frost talks to him a lot (lots of speech bubbles on white pages with no backgrounds) about not believing in God Doom anymore. Then he wakes up in a weird looking NYC and the last page looks like this?

I don't even know if this is the 616 NYC where he got transported to. Because those banners on the building look like they could be out of the Battleworld where Stark is a baron,
like the one he visited a couple of issues before that.

Haha right, well
that is the 616, Lemire's book started right there off the back of that shot. The way they go about the whole try it again premise is a pretty good set up.

Oh lord, I completely forgot that
Jimmy Hudson
was ever a thing. Thanks for dredging that up!

Like all Marvel-Netflix shows, Iron Fist wants to be an adult-skewing neo-pulp urban crime serial, so it downplays the supernatural aspects as if terrified of them.

Anyone wanting Fists of Fury in the City should table the expectation, and modern comics fanboys should abandon all hope of anything resembling the celebrated, stylish run of the comics treatment by Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and David Aja that leaned hard into the fantastical.
How did Marvel see this and say "Yes, this is good. Throw him into Defenders now.".

He threw the shield through the windows so he wouldn't crash into them. Although I don't think all the people he's holding would make it through.
Without injuring anyone with his shield?
Old Man Logan Secret Wars #1 - #5: Read this because it was marked v0 for Lemire's run. I shouldn't have.

It wasn't even bad, LordofLore is lying. #dontbelievehislies
Who cares? The new season of Love is up on Netflix now. Obviously a better show.

I'm personally waiting for Silicon Valley myself.

Great. A Netflix show I don't have to feel guilty about not watching.

I should really cancel it. I'm their favourite customer, I sub every month and never watch anything.

I do the same, UK Netflix is pretty shit to be honest. I miss the days of changing regions easy.

After how dull I thought Luke Cage was I'm not really surprised the fumbled Iron Fist as well. Hopefully Punisher isn't a write off.

Punisher has got one of the dudes behind Hannibal as the showrunner, so I have faith in it.

I honestly felt like the Netflix stuff had went strength to strength with DD season 1, JJ the. DD season 2. It's really only Cage that's shook my faith so fair. That said, some of the creative they've put behind Iron Fist...well, I won't hold my breath. Would really like it to be good though, I definitely care. I really don't want any Netflix otherwise, bar Stranger Things, which was fantastic.

Until Cottonmouths arc ended, Cage was really amazing. After that it died in a dumpster fire, sadly.

Totally agree. The first 4 Episodes were pretty decent, but as Diamondback becomes more of a thing. And fucking shades.

I just don't watch much in general. The only TV I made it through last year was American Crime Story, which to be fair was incredible. Even wrestling, I'll just watch a clip on YouTube if something interesting happens and skim through PPVs except for the Big 4 and Money in the Bank since I usually stay up for those. Just find it hard to concentrate on most things, mostly down to my Asperger's I guess.

It leads to awkward moments at work because I'll wear a Flash shirt or something on dress down days and people will be like "You must be a huge fan of the show, right?" and I don't really know what to say. I have a Daredevil beanie I stopped wearing for this reason as well.

It's been a rough couple of months, and I've been feeling low key depressed for awhile now. I had a lot of really bad pains in my head affecting my sleep, which seems to be better for the last few days. It turns out I needed to get my ears syringed and I changed my whole bed as well since I was only getting the pains at night apart from when Overwatch and DOOM came out and I was playing KBAM FPSes for the first time in years.

I got caught up on the current walking dead season...iiiiiiiiii dunno about finding ways to make All Out War worse than the comic. Seems like this was their chance to improve.

I also demand my coughing to stop.

I want to buy both volumes of Gwenpool on comixology. Does the sale factor in pre-orders as well?

edit: nvm i cant read

Been a while since I'e had time to myself, so getting caught up on a lot of
almost overdue library
books! Finished reading Spanish Fever. Collection of translated short comics from currently active Spanish creators. Wouldn't call it a must read but it had some really nice stories. (And some headscratchers).

Warren Ellis' newsletter tells me Island has been cancelled?

He had some suggestions about anthologies too..

Also, number your pages, and get the title and issue number on the spine, so they can be shelved together effectively. It makes people want to get them and keep them.

Anthologies are never going to be the saviours of the medium, and they will almost always eventually fail. But they can make a difference.

Island is the kind of thing I might have followed if I actually had a local comic store to visit, but as a trade reader, it was just never on my radar.

Tetrax, wouldn't have pegged you as someone with Asperger's buddy. It doesn't come through at all in your online writing. Hope things are picking up anyway.

Aww, seems like Tocchini stopped coloring all of Low and it's now Dave McCaig doing it. While McCaig isn't a bad colorist, a lot of the unique and almost painting like look of Low's volume 1 is absent in volume 2.

I wasn't diagnosed until my early 20s, so I didn't have the supports they have now, so I mostly made my own way. It didn't really exist as a condition that they tested for when I was a kid, and I was tested a LOT. The attitude from the docs was "He knows his name, he knows the alphabet and how to count, he's fine." Shitty, but that was the way of the world then.

I'm not a good socialiser, I'm much more eloquent over the internet than in person because I spent most of my time online, because hey, you can edit. When I try to stream it's a barrage of "Ah, um, er" (this is why I'd be terrible on a podcast, that and I'm super congested so I have to do a fuckload of audio editing for breath noise) and such and I'm useless in person. I never initiate conversation and I can't read body language or anything like that at all. I wear headphones outside with nothing playing because I'm terrified of being spoken to.

Things are better than they were this time last year. Employment definitely helps even if some days are worse than others. The air con is broken as well so it's like an oven in there right now. Mostly I just do the things anyone with mental health issues does, plus I meditate a good bit. They referred me onto a course for it and it's helped me a bunch since I finished.

Tetrax, I have the feeling that something along the lines of get well soon may not be appropiate for someone who has something like asperger, which not just goes away, but I hope the pains and the depressions are going away soon or at least get better.

Think Serp posted about Island getting cancelled the other day, it's a shame. I fell behind on it and stopped buying it near the end but it showcased some fresh work by independent creators. I don't think all of the stories were winners but it was still a very cool book each month. Plus it's always nice to see more work by Graham. Hope to see more from him soon.

It's not your fault, Tyrant.

Finally decided to go back and finally finish Hickmans Run.
Two Observations and one question:

A) Its a fucking mess to read in OHCs since the issues arent numbered and its a big clusterfuck so look at the reading order. I now just decided to switch books after I have the feeling a arc ended. Cant wait to get to Time Runs Out when its all collected in one book

B)Its so goood. Seriously. I love it so much. :((((

C) I think they brought the Green Langern analogy to the Post-SW Universe? Where did she ended up, have they made something cool with her?

Any of y'all used Manga Studio? I've just got it and it seems decent even though I'm having trouble drawing with the Wacom tablet. Can barely draw a decent circle.

Sat and read through my last two Rebirth trades this evening. Read the bat books last week so I read through

Superman vol. 1 - This was probably my least preferred trade out of the lot, unfortunately. I don't think it was bad or anything like that but I'm not someone who has ever been a superman comic reader and the whole smiths set up is a little convoluted, so it felt a little rough between the Rebirth issue and the first issue settling into the flow of the status quo and less easy to enjoy than the others. I did really like the core thrust with Jon though as the team got going, it feels like there's a lot of potential there. It was probably the worst example of the trades I've got through as well of the artist changing out every issue. Don't want this to sound like too much of a negative analysis though, I'm not by any means saying it was a bad read by saying it was my least favourite. Switch Supermen was never going to be seamless, even with Rebirth, but with the plaster pulled off, I look forward to vol 2 hitting the ground running.

Conversely, despite really enjoying the bat books and out and out loving TEC vol. 1...

Wonder Woman vol. 1 -...Snuck as my favourite of the lot! I just enjoyed everything about it. I only ever read Azzarello's WW but I love how Rucka has not only came up with a method of incorporating all the different takes on WW and her story, and even made it the thrust of the ongoing narrative, but it really reflects WW's core theme of identity. I just found the story to work on every level. I have to admit I wasn't actually too hot on Sharp's art in previews and every now and again Diana looks a little too brainless Megan Fox for my liking but actually reading the arc, his art is gorgeous and totally perfect.

You should check out Rucka's previous run when you get the chance. DC started to reprint it last year and it's great stuff. I like the new run quite a bit too even if it does move kind of slowly. Rucka has a great voice for Diana.

Honestly, I wanted to go on a trip to Japan one day, but after reading Tokyo Ghost I feel like I've experienced all that culture has to offer.
Hahaha. If someone actually felt that way, I'd be like, "Yes! Please don't come here then!"

Yea, I'd definitely like to check his older stuff out man, just a case of getting round to it haha. I have saw folks mention the speed of the storytelling as an issue, is the one in the present, one in the past thing still happening? This volume just grouped up the first six present day issues, so I think I have to get througg a volume of the Nicola Scott issues before I get back to what's going on.

Can't wait to start my re-read when the first omnibus comes out. I assume it'll be in order.

Rucka's Wonder Woman is so good. Love both of his runs.

"Okay, the X Men are starting fresh, back to basics, what do we do?"
Axel: "Have Marc write the Gold team and slap them with the Empire tie in my boy Nick is doing. Hey...where did Bunn and Hope go?"

Or

"I just wrote a 5 issue arc that will have the lead deal with their personal problems and fight someone who stands against their morals.
Wait, what's that sound?"

TTTTTTTTIIIIIIIEEEEEEE IIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNN

Lol. This is what will make MMM worthless, if they can't change their ways of pulling this shit. If I buy the first trade for this book, and six months later its a trade dedicated to tying into an event that I'm not on there's by, that's a full year between vol 1 and volume 3 before the main title thrust gets going again. Why would I bother? Not that I'll sit and pretend I was into the book, but this has happened to me a bunch of times with books I do care about or what to read.

The next one is when, by the time trade 3 is coming out in this scenario, they announce the whole thing is getting cancelled and rebooted after the next event.
