Monstress is amazing you guys, holy cow am I ever intrigued by the universe and art. Maika has a very striking design and I can't wait learn more about her past. 66 pages of pure awesome.

Majorie Liu Da Gawd, Marvel needs her so badly.

007 is great too, I like how Ellis writes his own version of the universe, Bond isn't overly jokey but still suave, which is great. The villain looks crazy, should be fun.

Why did Marvel use Ultimate Green Goblin for their Infinity figure?

The Spider-Man and Avengers sets are based on the Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble cartoons.

I'm glad that people are loving this book so much. It deserves the recognition. I really enjoyed the Liu / Takeda run on X-23, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the freedom that a creator-owned series offers.

I didn't like Astonishing Ant-Man #1 at all, it spent too much time being a summary of what happened before and i struggled to get through it after putting it down and coming back to it. I'm glad i didn't continue pre-ordering it past the first issue. Random 4/10

edit: Since i'm not continuing it monthly and i didn't like it i'm willing to donate the digital code to comics-gaf. First person who asks that i don't dislike gets it.

Guess you're never giving the code away then. :p

If I'm not in your dislike list, the code would be nice please.

What about Sana Takeda :p
I take it you read the duo's previous run on X-23?

In my opinion:

1) Casino Royale
2) Skyfall
3) Spectre
4) Quantum

I liked Skyfall a lot and wasn't a fan of Quantum at all. Spectre's somewhere in the middle.

Speaking of Bond, the comic was really good. Looking forward to #2.

That works for me. I didn't enjoy Quantum too much either. To be honest, I can barely remember it. If Spectre is at least better than Quantum, I'll enjoy it.

Man after my own heart. Casino Royale is in a league of its own, imo.

Wonder Woman volume 1 N52 was great. I loved it. Going to start Batman Zero Year Dark City now.

Yup, that run is gold.

Spectre is fine. Not astonishing but fine. It's worth going to see for the single tracking shot at the start alone.

I've gone away from home for a little bit. Decided to catch up on Deadly Class to cheer myself up. That's worked well.

Movie or comic?

Shit or THE shit?

I can see it for free. Is free worth it?

Spectre? I thought it was decent but there seems to be a massive divide between UK critics and the rest of the world. The opening scene and train fight are fantastic. But a lot of the Oberhauser stuff didn't work for me.

I'm going to see it on Friday. Is it worse than the last three Craig films?

Spectre ;) It was not as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall, which where absolut fantastic movies, but far far from the shit that Quatom of Solace was.

The second half is much much much better then the first one. I would give it a 8/10.
The jokes ruined the first half for me.

People who didnt liked the Craig movies will be pleasured ;)

I loved the
couch gag, slow Nissan 500 driver and the ejector seat.
The humour actually helped it in my opinion. It felt pretty different in tone to the previous three Craig films with more callbacks to classic Bond.

Greg Capullo's work on Batman, to me, strikes the best balance between realism and cartoon I've ever seen. It's such a pleasant art style to look at. Beautiful line work, excellent panel design, and a fantastic sense of proportion.

I just love it so much.

Agree completely. There are a couple of panels from Zero Year in particular that are just permanently seared into my mind as iconic Batman shots.

It wasnt a big problem for me, but I think the transition from the three previous grounded Craig Bonds to full Bond including Supervillains, Strange Torture devices, henchman and gadgets went a little bit to fast

But it would be the perfect movie to close the Craig chapter, Bond is completly the old one again.

watching spectre in a couple days but so far I'd rank the craig bonds as:

casino royale > quantum of solace > skyfall

the films got better looking as they went. with skyfall being peak cinematography for bond films. but the action and tone took a big step down imo. plus bond was a lot less...ruthless in skyfall. whereas in casino and quantum he's a more blunt instrument.

i've done a huge turnaround on quantum. it's not as good as casino royale for sure but it's still the kind of bond I want, dude's ice cold. plus i think vesper and camille actually had some substance to them.

What the hell

I am speculating. It feels like a thing Xavier would do

Are reading All New and Uncanny? They crossover heavily especially early on. Uncanny is the better of the two BTW

Yeah, just finished issue 7 of all new. Going to read some uncanny soon. Everybody is so mean to young Scott. I'll probably have to read his solo book and hope his dad adventures in space are happier.

I'm waiting for the second issue since the first was setup.

WEEKLIES:

Midnighter #6: So this is the direction they decided to take
Prometheus? Evil Midnighter?
I'm ridiculously okay with this. It's better than
just weird, evil Batman that he used to be.

Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift #1: Weird pacing, but the art's good and I like the story. Not sure about HOW it's being told.

Joe Golem: Occult Detective #1: Exactly what I wanted, though the beginning of the book spoils a really heavy moment from the novel. I like the art, and I'm intrigued with the story at hand. Honestly I feel, depending on where this going, they could tell an enormous amount of stories within this universe. Which excites me immensely.

Invincible Iron Man #3: I really enjoy this book. It's fun, funny, has good action. All the armor sequences are sick. Guess it was just a rough first issue for me. I think I might start to like Tony...oh god...oh god this world...

The Vision #1: Fuck y'all were right. That was good. And creepy. Also LOL at
Grim Reaper's role getting murdered in every book
.

Uncanny X-Men #600: Hoooooly shit. That was beautiful. Unless you're a Hank McCoy fan. In which case, it sucks. Or it's still amazing. One particular moment
(the Bobby moment), while the retcon was handled super shittily initially, the moment where young Bobby confronts older Bobby about it was very beautiful I thought.
My two cents.

Extraordinary X-Men #1: I have a positive outlook on the future of this book, despite the fact that I don't like some of things occurring in it. Namely
WTF IS UP WITH SCOTT? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE WHERE THAT IS GOING?

Read the Blade promo (?) book that they put out. God, what a blaxploitation character he used to be.

Also read the first couple trades of the New 52 Green Lantern book (which I really liked), currently reading Hellblazer Vol. 1 (very wordy but still good) and I picked up a few trades:

Transformers: The Last Stand of the Wreckers
Nightwing Vol. 5: Setting Son
Secret Six Vol. 3: Cat's Cradle
Uncanny Avengers Vol. 2: The Apocalypse Twins

That's one way to do a title page. The Kid (Gorororo) was awesome.

And then there's The Duel. Damn, those last 4 panels were heartbreaking. I did not need to read that story right before I slept.

Edit 1: So the covers that join up are from The Duel. Fitting.

Edit 2: Looking up the date on this story, it was first published in Jan, 1991. There was a "closure" story for this in the first Dark Horse volume. That was published 3.5 years later. It is fascinating how the main narrative and side stories can be so interwoven and still be read as standalone without any feeling of incompleteness.

Edit 2: Ok, My Lord's Daughter was fun.
Usagi fighting an octopus monster while riding a shark.
. And the last page was adorable. I shall take a break now and go to sleep.

Great, thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it.

I really thought, initially, that it was the spiritual successor to Fear Agent. Problem is Grant is insufferable, and there's nothing particularly gripping about a shitty father trying to save his shitty kids from shitty circumstances he put them in. Like, there's no real anchor for me to latch onto here, and because the setting keeps shifting and the sci-fi fuckery is just random chaos, there's not much beating to the heart of the book.

The best thing Remender did here was
make the supposed villain of the story the hero after Grant "dies".
That was fucking fascinating, and could have worked so well. Eh, this book just bums me out for what it could have been.

I felt that way about Deadly Class. Didn't give a shit what happened to any of them. I ended up dropping Low too. I've not tried Tokyo Ghost yet and Black Science has held out the longest but maybe next to go for some of the same reasons. At least digital sales mean I can keep up with them for a fraction of the cost.

I'm starting to wonder if I really did like Fear Agent all that time ago.

Trump Alert:

Trump is on SNL tonight.

You may return to reading comics now.

Invincible #124: They should reboot Walking Dead with Carl going back in time to his old body.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?

When is Monstress and Bond #2 due? Just same time next month? Or a lil earlier? Anyone know?

Yeah, I forgot to mention Sana, whoops! She truly is an incredible artist. Now that I think about it, she would fit Rat Queens way better than Tess Fowler...

Their run together on X-23 was as legendary as Black Widow: The Name of the Rose.
