COMICS! |OT| November 2015. The much-anticipated sequel to October's OT.

smh at all the people joking about losing a finger. I went to ER once for insufficient hydration, and the most vivid memory I have of that incident was
watching a young woman walk by sobbing, holding a bloody napkin over her hand while her boyfriend tried to comfort her.

I stubbed my pinkie toe on a dresser earlier. I don't think I'm gonna make it guys. My whole toe feels like a bruise.

Really depends on what finger it is. Index or thumb would fucking suck. Any of the others, you'll get by. Although sometimes you need the middle, as that comes in handy for L2/R2 sometimes depending on controller layout.

Uncanny Avengers Vol. 2: The Apocalypse Twins

Holy shit, is this book good. I like how Remender's not shying away from the racial debate in this book. Though, a lot of the tension makes these characters angry and therefore hard to like at times, it's done in a way that I don't dislike the characters in a bad way. If that makes sense. I also of course really enjoy the Apocalypse storyline being told since his Uncanny X-Force run. In fact, so far, this may be one of my favorite storylines in fiction. Period.

Now I know where the stuff about "Planet X" comes from. The thing that keeps popping up in all these "Marvel's moving mutants to Planet X and Inhumans are the new mutants" rumors (which I really don't want to start another argument about). Also, Acuña'a art is fantastic

Once my father almost cut of his thumb with a axe, it was horrible, we found him just in time to get him to the hospital.
And my uncle cut off his index in a machine.

Guys, I just realized that you could have taken me to serious, even while I wrote the Lizard Serum stuff.

Even while my kitchen really is bloody like hell, I will not go to the ER. I just cut myself.

Argh :(

I knew you weren't serious, otherwise you'd be typing on a very bloody keyboard. But if it's bad, I would still consider getting it looked at.

Cancel it and take a "Die Spinne" costume from the one time Spidey and Wolverine were in East Berlin. Then come to germany to beat someone up. Stay true to the canon!

My knowledge of Spidey Lore is sometimes scary even for me

Yeah, have a little bit blood on my iphone, but I already tried to fix it with pressure. It will be ok, even when it will be horrible to drive again tomorrow.

Nightwing Vol. 5: Setting Son

Welp, the mediocrity that has been New 52 Nightwing has ended. I don't know if it's because Kyle Higgins didn't understand the character or what, but it just didn't work. It was inconsistently paced, and a lot of storyline's seemed to be picked up and then dropped. Alas, Grayson is next, so I have a positive horizon ahead. Though, I'll read Forever Evil first, because I'm curious about what exactly happened to Dick, though technically I already know. Plus, I've seen some say that it was actually a good event, despite Trinity War and the tie-ins being shitty.

Trinity War was actually pretty good, I liked it more than Forever Evil and that wasn't bad either.

I had the worst potato chip i ever tasted yesterday, Utz Carolina Style Barbeque. It's what i imagine a urine and vinegar chip would taste like.

Literally the first Google result for "Utz Carolina Style Barbeque":

Utz Carolina BBQ Chips Are The Most Perfect Potato Chip On Earth

Well now I don't know what to believe.

I miss when Boomerang here actually used to show old cartoons.

Well if you do go the Lizard serum route GAMEPROFF, make sure you don't turn into the horrible Amazing Spider-Man 2 one.

Hope you're ok and it heals up quick, in all seriousness.

Salt and vinegar crisps are my favourite, and I've never sniffed comics! I'm outraged, good sir, this will not stand!

Forever Evil had some fun Bizarro stuff. That's the only nice thing I have to say about the writing and art on that event.

I only sniff word books, and only ones I have purchased with real actual money.

Comics are great, but they lack New Book Smell, which is the greatest of smells. It's probably toxic, but "died from inhaling a leather-bound edition of The Once & Future King" is a great way to go.

Comics have words in them. And those old Essential Marvel collections have the superior Old Book Smell.

Welp, I learned in addition to ordering from Amazon in the first place being dicey, going with "fulfilled by Amazon" sellers is even worse for comics. Got in two books today and my thought was "oh it's a seller so hopefully it'll beat Amazon's packaging" but considering the books from two sellers came together in one (noticeably too big) bubble envelope just flopping around, I'd guess that was Amazon's doing. And then the delivery guy ingeniously jammed it in the mailbox instead of bringing it to the door. And I'm guessing it's that last step that was the killer, as there's a noticeably dented corner (maybe the rough size of a quarter?) that travels straight through the whole book, which happens to match a similar bend in the envelope. But yeah, back to my first point, apparently being through a "fulfilled by Amazon" rather than Amazon themselves limits what they can do, so I couldn't get a replacement without the runaround of sending it back, but they were readable so customer service at least gave me a 20% refund, which is better than nothing.

Oh, and for what it's worth it was an Abe Sapien Volume and a BPRD Hell on Earth which I couldn't get off of IST. Still have one more coming through similar means so hopefully at least one makes it through in a shape at least somewhat befitting of a "new" book. :|

Switch #1 was mostly enjoyable, i could do without the Witchblade stuff which is how i felt when the book was announced but it does have Sejic's endearing-character-qualities. Not sure if i'm going to wait for the trade while the book dies or continue monthly while the book dies.

^^^ pro-tip, use paint to fill in the creases.

Read Switch #1. I liked it. And I've always found Witchblade comics pretty forgettable in the past, but this was fun. Probably because it was a different take on Witchblade.

Nope. Going by a reading order that Tizoc (I think) posted.

It was pretty sick

I think I read the first volume of More Than Meets The Eye and then went back and read Wreckers, but yeah you're doing it the right way.

No joke, MTMTE is one of the best ongoing series out there right now.

Finished Batman Zero Year, and I've read all of the tie-in Zero Year stories, too. My favorite Snyder Batman story yet, and, for ME, it's now my definitive Batman origin story. I thought it was masterfully done. That's the first time I REALLY cared about Riddler as a villain, too, though admittedly I haven't read a ton of Riddler stuff.

Walking Dead tv show is boring me a little, the season started strong but then it took a swerve and just sat down on the two plot points happening at the same time.

I can't get this Jurassic World line out of my head and i apply it to everything. You just went and made a new Sejic book? Probably not a good idea.

Season before last was when I was done with it. I still flip it on every now and then to see what's going down, but it's usually nothing interesting.

Starting Superman Unchained (deluxe edition) now. Jim Lee is one of my favorite artists, and I'm a huge Scott Snyder fan, so I'm looking forward to it. Also excited because most of the Superman stories I've read so far have been from Supes' early days.

TWD really is just torture porn and emotional manipulation.

I'm good.

Eh. Crossed is torture porn. Walking Dead has a story to tell. The comic, I mean. The TV series hasn't interested me in some time. Sometimes I flip through Crossed at the comic shop just to see what crazy shit is in there. Though I'm a bit curious to read Alan Moore's Crossed +100 series.

Is that avatar from Overwatch? They lost me so hard by not being F2P. And they're being super-cagey about content offerings.

Still reading through Bendis X-men. Just finished ANXM 8 and Uncanny 2. I do like the stay together for the kids thing going on, but it is the least subtle allusion to a failed marriage that I've ever seen. I'm being silly for expecting any subtlety in X-men.

Things I'm having a hard time getting over:

Everyone being mean to young Scott because Cyclops killed Xavier.

Kitty being the only person that is even a little concerned that Jean is going off the deep end with her powers. Also, no one being mean to Jean when her "older" self has literally destroyed planets full of sentient life when under the effects of the same force that Scott was under.

Bednis speak. Bendis speak, you say? Yup, Bendis speak. Ok.

I feel like I should have read AvX. I know most of this book came out of the event, but it was such a slog to read any of it. That event actually got me into buying comics, but I only bought the first 5 issues before noping right out of it. It did teach me some valuable lessons: Event comics are garbage, and the comic book store has worthwhile books.

Where is this Transformers read order people mentioned? I have the humble bundle, and keep hearing it is great even if you have zero attachment to the toys/shows.

Seven Soldiers: Zatanna #2 - Love how Morrison makes Zee feel so human through the way she talks.

Supergirl (PAD) #2 - This is really good so far. That page where Kara learns that Linda was into some fucked-up shit was great.

Ah, I meant the show. Which is definitely also telling a story and very invested in doing so, but it's also just sooooo indulgent in the kills. It really is a bit much now. "Soccer mom mercilessly kills s home invader with a pair of scissors" pushed me to finally take a step back. It's nasty.

Avatar is D.VA from Overwatch, yeah. I'm pretty hyped for it. Sounds like a packaged release is the best thing to do for the games integrity. As for the future, I'll worry about it when we get there. 21 heroes at launch for 60 bones is a fine deal by me.
