Tons of that yuri/yaoi stuff.I want to read something where two girls/guys like each other very much. Or a guy and a girl I don't mind. It doesnt have to be sex related.

NANA is a good shout you might like that Messi. Romance isn't really my thing but I really enjoyed Lovely Complex, it was cute.
I dont know if I should google that
I will have a look into it.
I wonder if this book is still coming out. Freeza?
I love that cover, but
Has Gamora popped up in any post Secret Wars books other than her solo book? She doesn't seem to be part of the Bendis line up.
Are you secretly addicted to something shameful, like Bleach? If i could i'd make it illegal to buy Manga, you'd have to get it off street corners looking over your shoulder.
Right. Meeting those kinds of people in Japan is even more irritating. I understand the struggle. haha. Most of the animosity is joking, playing into the "feud."
(It's also a reaction to some of the more... Japanocentric gaffers very real attitudes towards comics.)
If you like comics, that's absolutely silly to say. There are thousands upon thousands of series. It's like saying "I only like American movies."—it's only because you haven't read ones that you like that you think this, but that's not to be confused with them just not existing. It's just as varied as American comics. Although, just like in the US, the comics on the surface are all action, there are tons of other things. If you do like action, then I'd recommend trying something like Vagabond (based on the biographical book about the famous samurai, Musashi Miyamoto), Berserk (mature, high fantasy adventure epic with elements of body horror), Vinland Saga (about a viking that seeks revenge, and inevitably has to pay for his insatiable need for revenge), but I see your Deadpool avatar, so maybe you'd like One Punch Man.It's definitely not for me.

I am very cool, you can ask anyone and they will confirmYay! Hopefully you're cool. You have a black and white cartoon avatar so probably yes.
Just got this on CMX! Wow @ the preview pages. It's gorgeous.
This and Tokyo Ghost are the only books I got this week.
There is a version of her in Contest of Champions, IIRC.
Is that not based on a mobile game?
Tyrant, I think you will love The Beauty. I thought it was stellar as first issues go.

So is it just me or did Sean Murphy sneak in three familiar faces from his previous works into Tokyo Ghost?
I definitely noticed the guys from Punk Rock Jesus and Chrononauts.
Tokyo Ghost is amazing.
Is it late October yet?
#2 came out today. Book is aces.

I recognize that you're being facetious, but if you really don't like manga, I could find something for you, too.

How many of those are in color and formatted like American comics?
What do you mean by format? You don't want to read a book from the opposite end, as they do in Japan? I don't think it's a big deal, but if that small of a factor makes you not want to read something, then I suppose I don't really want to convince you to open up and try new things. haha.
So lazy. haha. It's really not that hard.Do you still have to read manga right to left, because i'm not doing that..
There are people, such as myself, that like both. I'm not coming over to convert people. I like American comics, too, and I probably post in here as much as the manga thread nowadays. Also, we have had many posts in the manga threads about Ultimate Spiderman and Batman from people who post here/used to post here, too. I appreciated when people like Bdubs attempted to open manga-only readers to new things, so I'm only attempting to open up other people who really might find something they love in another country's version of the same medium. At the end of the day, they're all comics.I don't want to backseat mod, but the manga evangelicalism would be better suited as its' own thread. I don't think any of us go to the manga OT and tell them to read Batman.
I have friends that absolutely adore Nana. Messi would probably like it. In fact, we might just lose Messi to the manga thread if he finds enough manga that he likes
FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST!
I don't want to backseat mod, but the manga evangelicalism would be better suited as its' own thread. I don't think any of us go to the manga OT and tell them to read Batman.
A number of them have been redone in color, actually. Although, if you appreciate art, I think there is a lot to enjoy about the depth possible in art done mostly with fountain pens in black ink. It's rare that you see someone with such impressive cross hatching technique within mainstream comics.

What do you think of artist who's art style is manga inspired? (Ex: Joe Mad, Babs Tarr, Kenneth Rocafort, etc.)No it's not hard. Just annoying.
And no that art you posted does nothing for me.

Well, if you tell me what you do like, I could find something for you. If you're not interested in even trying something new, then the conversation can end now.No it's not hard. Just annoying.

I don't consider it backseat modding. I have to disagree with you. I think the only reason the two threads arent one is because it would be a huge mess even if its technically the same medium.
This is a comics thread. We should be able to discuss comics of all kinds here IMO
Why discriminate against manga in particular? If we say we should keep manga discussion out and directed to the manga thread then I suppose we should also keep comics out made from Chile, France, & Belgium out too. Those British comics too. Just to be safe
I like this thread best when it is strictly about comics, we get too sidetracked from time to time.
The way DC has collected Batman Beyond 2.0 is beyond confusing.
The bolded contradict each other. Either it's one thread for everything or it isn't. They're split for a reason, IMO. You can't have a scenario where manga = comics but comics =/= manga.
I would be all for more euro-comic discussion, or if they got their own thread, that would be fine too. I started with British comics like Transformers UK and old 2000 AD annuals.
Tokyo Ghost was great!
Haven't got to read 2 yet. Its still holding up?

All toads are frogs, but not all frogs are toads (or possibly the other way around, I forget). Similarly, all manga is comics, but not all comics are manga. The main discussion thread for the submedium filters out most of the discussion, but I don't think there's anything wrong with some talk here and there, especially considering the community nature of the thread.
Hey dudes there are more than a few of us who read comics and manga, so don't be assholes when manga people pop in. it's kinda fuckin lame.
I'm not saying NO FUN ALLOWED, I can just scroll past it like Destiny talk, but....
....he was the one calling people lazy and giving out to us for not wanting "to try something new". That's what really got my goat.

You know, I was just thinking, you know that Marquez Mary Jane that was posted a few days back? The way MJ is drawn reminds me a bit of the way Warren draws. No Adam Warren mention? Jesus Christ, Boxy. I expected better.
That guy is pretty much a manga artists. No Adam Warren mention? Jesus Christ, Boxy. I expected better.

I honestly don't mind sidetracking, it is the nature of the community ghetto. I like shooting the shit with you guys. Weekend ComicGAF is always full of strange delights. I would take twenty pages of Waffles vs. Pancakes: Dawn of Syrup before this though.
I didn't directly quote anyone because I'm not particularly singling any one person out. All I want is for people who enjoy the medium any which way to feel welcome here. There has been anti-manga sentiment here in the past and it's kind of shitty and the argument against it is flimsy at best. Get over yourself, and by "yourself" I mean hypothetical person I'm talking to.
IMO, it's really not that unreasonable that manga would have its own thread. particularly here in Community. Music gets separated out, TV gets separated out, etc etc. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the moderation here would prefer, if the rest of the forum is any indication. I don't think you have to 'hate' manga (which I don't) to see the reasoning behind it.
I don't... really... think we should have to placate your dislike of manga.
I mean is that what it is? I'm not trying to be argumentative, but it seems like that's what it is without any real reasoning behind it, to boot.
