I think Noto and Bachalo are my favourite artists at this point. Love to get some pages or sketches from both.

Noto on Chewbacca should be fun he's all over Star Wars right now.

I absolutely love my Bachalo page. He is such a nice dude too.

I wish Noto was on a book I could read.

i'm cooling on Astro City, issues #3 and #4 were a drop-off from the first two for me. I didn't know they were all going to be one shots either, i really liked the first issue and wanted more of the Samaritan's story. Issue #2 was interesting so it made the transition easier but the next two weren't as good.

I am kind of having the same problem. #1 was like "hmm this is pretty good", #2 was like "damn ok that was really good", #3 was like "hmm ok". That's where I'm at right now.

I want to finish the first mini before committing to more or dropping off, though.

Then I don't think you will rate the rest of the series. I really like #3 and #4 and thought #5 was the weakest in the first series.

The pacing and characters and locations will keep changing drastically. You will see Samaritan again in #6 and then might not get a Samaritan centric issue for quite a while. Busiek and Anderson are telling the story of Astro City more than the heroes of Astro City. You will get stories of Samaritan and henchmen and Winged Victory and doormen and people who have just moved to Astro City and people who have left Astro City behind. Individuals in some stories might connect with you and you might see slices and new angles of superhero tropes but I think there are very few places it will read like a continuous story.

I have a feeling the Chewie book could be something you could jump into even if you have no interest in the Star Wars universe overall. I remember reading there's a lot of new characters in the book.

I recognized from the outset (ok, maybe from #2) that it was more about the city than about the heroes, so that's not really my issue. On the other hand, I think I am having trouble connecting with the narrators, though specifically I think that goes for Samaritan and the dude from #3 telling his experience with Jack-in-the-Box.

However, I recall you said #6 was one of your all-time favorites? I'm going to at least read that far before the sale ends. I'll see how I feel about it then.

EDIT: also, something I'm curious about that won't affect my enjoyment, but how do the longer series play out, like the 23 issue one following this mini? Is it a mix of one-shots and small arcs?

Some narrators are definitely hard to connect to. In #4 for example, I really do not like the decision the narrator takes at the end but that kinds of makes the character feel real to me.

Yeah, the next series is a mix of one-shots, some small 2-issue arcs and some larger arcs. (One very good 6-issue arc too).

Got another dope find! 100% signed by Pope.

Also got Heavy Liquid, but that is not signed unfortunately. Two outta three for the week ain't bad though.

Slither rules!

Hell yeah it does I love that film.

I'm sure you've posted it before but what page did you get from Bachalo? something All New X-men?

I echo the Chewbacca reccomendations I think that should be a pretty easy book to pick up for newcomers. I think I'm going to send Noto a nice email after NYCC and see if I can get a comission at some point as I'll probably never see him at a con.

This is not a comics convention

Edit:

That Bachalo page reminds me I really do not like his coloring.

I don't think he does the colouring. They also changed colorist fir two issues neat the end and it was so much worse. Ruined his art.

Frank Cho needs to do his Black Kiss. Cut on the petty sniping, do the full blown porno comic he obviously has been dying to do considering the rate at which he's been releasing his doodles of boobs and the message of urgency (if I don't do it now the SJWs will censor me to death) embedded in all of them.

Just, go ahead, make your all boobs all the time comic, get it out of your system, and leave the women who have a hard enough time being into comics as is alone.

In short, shit or get off the pot.

I'm about to impulse buy Destiny TTK... how big a mistake am i making

worst case scenario you get addicted to it and become like Birdie.

I wonder if apple would fix my ipad air 2 if i went to their store....it's under the one year warranty and the case has some discolored spots on the left edge that look like it was caused by heat.

wow that's cool I'm still sad he isn't continuing with X-men but I'm sure he'll be back around eventually

It's a fun game so not a big a mistake at all

Yeah, I am bummed out about that too. He is great on X books. Hopefully this isn't the last we see of his work on X-Men. I fear this might be his last long term X book for a while

One of us, one of us, ONE OF US.

Do it. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll ask your imaginary friend why you went down the rabbit hole. Make sure to create a sexy female awoken so everyone will stand and look at you.

The original game was fun for a while. With all the extra content out there now you should be just fine.

Also I don't know if you listen to comic podcasts at all but 11 O'Clock Comics was pretty Valiant heavy this week.

They seem to be all about retreading with X-men in not so new and not so different marvel so hopefully that will follow through with the artists. Stoked for him and Aaron on Dr Strange though.

The base game is trash compared to 2.0. They've improved the game so much with the Taken King and that's coming from someone who dropped the it before The Dark Below came out.

Dr Strange is a good fit for him. He seems to really enjoy drawing that kind of stuff. His Strange and Magik always looked great.

House of Wolves improved content and loot drops. It was the first time Detiny was worth playing. The grind is still there but its faster now.

X-Men Legacy is pretty great but it comes off a little too kewl for skewl to me. So much of Legion's dialogue is wrapped around how the X-Men are a bunch of spandex clad jerks who don't solve "real" problems.

I don't know when those tickets you can buy from Xur that give you a chance of getting a Legendary were implemented but they are amazing.

I bought it but haven't tried it out yet. Are the chances for an exotic drop really good? Specifically TKK new exotics?

I used one and got an exotic straight away after killing the taken guy in the first TKK mission. I'm reading that it's all over the place though with like people using 45 and getting like 3 exotics lol

Something about this looks off not sure if it's the colouring or just the general artsyle.

does he just go to your shop and randomly sign his shit or what

(of the two 100% is my preferred one and I think the stronger overall but both are good shit)

He's been colouring his own stuff for a while now.

Oh weird I thought it was someone else for Uncanny. Personally I love his coloring but I can see how it would be easy not to like.

Hey, if y'all aren't already, you should check out Brandon Graham and Emma Rios' Island, which is by far the best comic-zine-thing I've picked up because:

Dilraj Mann

Amy Clare

Will Kirkby

Jose Domingo

Yeah! I think if you told me that I could only pick up two monthly comics things right now I'd start reading the Megazine again and the other would be Island

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
Sometimes I just crave a super standard superhero comic.
Which is kind of a shame, since I don't really own any standard superhero comics. Lol

Will Kirkby's and Jose Domingo's art in particular looks rad as hell.

Seriously, the sheer amount of new (and fucking amazing) talent that I'm being exposed to through this zine is absurd. I usually finish a chapter/story and immediately think, "how the fuck have I never heard of this artist/writer/team before?"

They handle the quick openers for issues #2 and #3, and they're both spectacular, man. Also, in terms of content:dollar ratio, this hefty ass monthly zine is a steal.

I 100% agree with this. Island is an absolute treat each and every month and is the only monthly book I buy in print. I'm actually headed out to get this month's issue now

Simone's Secret Six run is officially one of my favorite comics from the Big 2. I have one more collection to read, but it's godlike so far.

Bane is pure gold
