No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I'm torn. I like the look of the book with dust jacket while it's on better than the Marvel NOW and DC Earth-One style hardcovers, BUT the Marvel NOW and DC Earth-One style hardcovers are SO much easier to deal with, and still look really nice.
The simplicity of a hardcover without a dust jacket trumps every other issue. Besides which, Image and Dark Horse constantly prove you can make gorgeous hardcovers without tacking on floppy, glossy bullshit.

Well sex criminals has a dust jacket and lovely rude jokes under it.

I felt obligated to read a comic so i chose Silver Surfer #9 on MU, i still don't like Slott's writing, though Dawn's
he's surfing the moon
was cute.

Sex Crims was still well-done, so it's forgiven. Satellite Sam also has a dust jacket, but it's one of those thin, mostly transparent ones. Makes for a cool effect. Fraction loves dust jackets confirmed.

I don't even care about Surfer that much. He's the sidekick here. Dawn is center-stage. Always.

I like how DC did it with the the Planetary Omnibus. If they could design all of their hardcovers to look good with or without the dust jacket, I would be incredibly happy.

Yeah, I really like the way that they did the Planetary omni.

Dust jackets were a mistake. Nothing but trash.

Is anyone going to Comikaze this weekend!? I didn't even realize it was even coming up until just now.

It's not on the same level quality-wise as Dini's work, but Jeff Lemire's Justice League Dark features Zatanna in a lead role. It's a team book though, so I'm not sure if you'll be interested in reading it. I thought it was fun and enjoyed Zatanna's banter with Constantine.
But ONLY Lemire's run. Post Lemire it's not very good. The Forever Evil tie-in is just bad, and after that it's mediocre at best.
There can be only one:
But the spelling tho
The last civil war I remember was when a
brainwashed Superman joined a revolution on Apokolips as a sleeper agent for darkseid, leading the revolution into a trap that slaughtered them all.
I'll assume that was the comics, because it wasn't in the DCAU. I don't remember anyways.
You don't have to be a bitch of any sort to shit on Cyclops, that guy fucking sucks.

But what can you expect from a dirty Mutie.
OH HELL NAW
Cyclops was right though and a lot of the mutants against him have been written pretty poorly for a long time. If anything they should've all been ganging up on Beast lol.
Beast sucks so much.
I mostly put in Nextwave because of the art and Monica Rambeau. Do you think there'd be a better book to read for Monica?

There's a new Ultimates series starting next month, and Monica is on the team. Glorious art by Kenneth Rocafort. :D

Ultimates_feat.jpg

The Mighty Avengers by Al Ewing.

And Captain America and the Mighty Avengers.

Starts rough because of the AXIS shit, but it's still really good.
I don't think I could ever hate on the guy.
Real talk Image does the best hardcovers
IDW and Dark Horse, too.

Got to a moment near the end of Arkham Knight and I think I might be ready to just quit on this game. Fuck your fucking bat tank. Then you go and
Kill poison Ivy... Fuck you.
distinct lack of Harley for someone used so heavily in marketing.

Legitimately so let down that this game went that route.

If
Babs ends up actually being dead then this game is a complete piece of shit.

Are you even going to have any money left by then? All those Monsterarts, and now you're looking at 1/6 and 1/4 statues? ;)

In all seriousness, with as much as I'm spending, I've still been managing to save around 2/3rds of my paychecks this past month and a half. It's kind of strange. I keep feeling like I've spent way more than I have. I guess that's what happens when you're used to saving about 95% of your paychecks. Lol

I only remember the game because people bring it up from time to time, such a waste of a franchise with their Bat Tanking. I didn't read a lot of stuff about the game prior to playing so i was surprised and disappointed at what it was, but not really angry thanks to Gamefly. *returns and watches the ending on youtube instead of playing the last few hours*

Dark Horse cmx horror sale, IGN seemed to like Harrow County, and Pixu looks intriguing. I don't like scary stuff though so i might pass....more zombies less terror.

I thought Poison Ivy's role in the game was well done to be honest. I thought her
sacrifice was in character and played out effectively.
She might
be gone, but I think that the sapling that remained means she could return in the future.

Definitely. Justice League Dark fell off the wagon, quality wise, following Forever Evil. That 18 plus part crossover ran the series into the ground. Milligan's initial run showed potential, but Lemire's run hit it in strides.

The big issue, post Lemire, is Constantine's presence on the team. It worked beforehand, but once he left and after all the Forever Evil stuff, especially with his own series, it didn't make sense for him to be on the team. Granted, he's certainly not the only character with a solo series who was also on a team book, but lawd this one didn't make much sense. Also the constant "John and Zatanna love hate each other so much it hurts oh waaaaaah" is so fucking bad. Just bad writing. Also, Lemire is far better at long-form storytelling and lore building than Milligan is. The most recent story, with the House of Wonders and whatnot, really showed that major flaw in Milligan's writing. Just sort of throwing things in and hoping they stick.

Every so often people here ask for podcast recommendations so the Secret Convergence on Infinite Podcasts might be of some interest. There's a whole storyline involved but the gist of it is that it's a crossover of sorts where co-hosts of the various shows come together for an episode to a specific theme so it's less unorganized than you might expect.

The shows involved are: The Fan Bros Show, Into It with Elle Collins, SILENCE!, Less than Live with Kate or Die, Journey into Misery, Wait, What?, House to Astonish, War Rocket Ajax and Rachel & Miles X-Plain the X-Men

There's a nice description of each show in that link but as a regular listener to three of these and a former listener of one here are Some Opinions

SILENCE! is hosted by Gary Lactus and The Beast Must Die, both from the Mindless Ones. Al Ewing, Kieron Gillen, and Si Spurrier have all appeared in one form or another here. They're mostly a weekly review show but also do songs and I think pound for pound this is the funniest comics pod around.

Wait, What? is hosted by Jeff Lester and Graeme McMillan. I've been listening to this forever which is kind of weird to think about but they're both older dudes who are in it for all things Jack Kirby and Steve Engleheart. This is probably an acquired taste and more than other shows depends on how much you like the hosts. They're also doing a podcast series called Baxter Building where they're going through all the (maybe just Kirby) Fantastic Four which I think is a lot of fun.

House to Astonish is hosted by Al Kennedy and Paul O'Brien (from the now defunct X-Axis which used to review EVERY X-Men book). One of the few comics podcasts where the hosts record in the same room so it doesn't sound like garbage!! It's a very structured show that goes through the news, some reviews, and their Official Handbook of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe where they basically find a really obscure character from Marvel history and think of ways to revamp them for modern audiences.

War Rocket Ajax is hosted by Chris Sims and Matt Wilson. I used to listen to this a lot more before they changed hosts but for better or for worse this is a Chris Sims podcast and if you like his writing you'll probably like this. I liked it a lot for a long time but I really dislike sound and intonation of Matt Wilson's voice so I haven't been super into it for a while.

I've dabbled in Rachel and Miles and listened to one episode of Into It as well and they're p decent

Anyways the first episode is basically an hour long "Who Would Win?" conversation and it's pretty fun if you're into that kind of thing.

Was doing the ironing just now and bent down to unplug it after finishing and couldn't move from standing. Had pain shooting up my back. I was hunched over the kitchen counter for nearly five minutes before it went away.

Christ I'm gonna have to read Black Vortex, aren't I?

You want to read a story just to know how someone got a makeover? :p
I would say that it is like reading the pre-Morrison issues of Doom Patrol to know what the deal is with their comatose teammate, but prob. that story is good and worth reading for more than that, but I don't even know wtf bLACK vortex is :V

Agreed. I actually liked what they did with her and enjoyed the game overall. Definitely too much Bat tank though.

This is why proper reading positions are important.

I think it's more work related. I do a lot of heavy lifting and I'm sure as conscious as I am of proper lifting procedures, there are likely times I don't practice those procedures without realising. Especially when we're busy. I have lower back support for my desk chair at home, because I know how important good posture is and I'm at my computer often working on assignments, etc.

What's good from this Marvel Zombies sale? Interested in the Van Lente stuff

It's a sort of inside joke around here. If you don't use Kipp's official omnibus reading position (OORP), that is.

Hahaha. Went completely over my head. It makes sense, I mean those editions are hardly comfortable reading. That's why I store mine horizontally, so the spines don't break over time.

indeed. I say "kind of" because it's actually one of the legitimately best things to come out of this community. It really is a hell of a lot more comfortable than the crappie positions I used before, and on one of my long ass omni sessions without the OORP, I ended up tiring out my neck.

So, yeah, reading comics can be dangerous. One more reason to buy a bunch and never read them, amirite Monkey?

Seeing that Hellboy picture up there - is there a good way to follow up the two Hellboy movies and the animated flicks in comic form?
I found the setting and style fascinating and want to know, how the storyline with him bringing on the end of the world concludes.

The movie's follow their own thing...so you're not going to get any sort of conclusion to GDT's story. Best to just read the books and start with Library vol 1.

Darkseid War: Batman was a trip. Loved every page. From the natural frustrations that arise (and MUST arise) from trying to fight future crime to the various more creative punishments he starts handing out, and finally... the confrontation with Joe Chill. Lawd almighty. Every moment, fantastic. Only complaint I have is I'm not too fond of the art, but it's all competent enough, so that's just a matter of personal preference.

The movies and animated features are their own continuity. The books are their own continuity as well.
For a reading order, just read all of Hellboy then go into BPRD :)

So yesterday I got up at 4am for an eighteen hour workday, may have had my marriage end, and re-read Age of Ultron.

Hard call on which was worse.
