Cool Game Soundtracks with initials other than K.D.

Everyone here knows and loves Katamari Damacy's sountrack, but let's put that aside in this thread and talk about some other cool game soundtracks. Like this one. Free for download from the publisher. Which is very generous of them.

So ok, I know you're looking at Crash Twinsanity and remembering how crappy Crash music always was, but this is really cool and unique a cappella stuff. The tunes are human voices mixed with finger snapping, tongue clicking, and other peoplesounds. Funny and interesting to listen to.

Recommend some others! Katamari Damacy is off limits.

So is Halo 2! MWAHAHAAAAAAAAA!

The original Phantasy Star for the Master System had an awesome soundtrack. Sega's coders can do more with a computer than any composer can with an entire orchestra.

Phantasy Star Sound Collection I
Phantasy Star Online - Episode I&II Songs of Ragol Odyssey
Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Premium Arrange
Phantasy Star Online episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution Let the Winds Blow

Huh? Crash 2 & 3 had excellent soundtracks, I can't speak for any of the other Crash games because I havent really played them though.

Eh, maybe. I don't remember them much as I haven't played them in years, but seeing as Naughty Dog made them, and Jak and Daxter and Jak 2 have awful music, I assumed it was their typical jungle boogie drum music. :)

Mr. Driller Drill Land
Giftpia
Myth/Myth II
Crimson Skies
Kirby's Air Ride (The music was the best part!)
Space Channel 5/ Part 2
Shenmue

Who are you? What's your name? SUPER BROTHER

For its time, Actraiser had a rockin soundtrack. Mega Man X stood out during the SNES era too

Abit of old and new for me.

Power Slave(awesome Egyptian themes.)
Super Mario 64(that under water theme was classic stuff.)
Sega Rally(Butt Rock!!!)
Daytona
Blinx(Sounds inspired by the NIGHTS soundtrack.)
Panzer Dragoon
Parasite Eve(One them that stands out-where you would travel between areas,it had a nice pianio theme within it.)
Super Metroid
Sonic Heroes(Butt rock!!!)
Sonic Adventure(Butt Rock!!!)
Neo Contra(especially the opening cinema with the female vocal singing.)
Soul Star(John Willams inspired goodness.)

This man speaks the truth.

Also, Metroid Fusion's soundtrack. It's kinda old, but it's up to par with some of the better SNES-era soundtracks. As good as Super Metroid (also a hearty recommendation), dare I say.

I have a soft spot for Simcity 4's soundtrack, as well. It's kinda jazzy with some urban bits to it. Fully recommended, especially since you can get it in the game (since the audio files are all MP3s).

didn't we do this last month?

Top Gear
Wizards & Warriors
GoldenEye 007
R4: Ridge Racer Type 4
MegaMan 3
Turok 2
Ollie King
Tekken 1/2/3
DOA (any)
Castlevania (any)

Mega Man 2: still the best game soundtrack evar

Mega Man 1-3 have the best 8-bit soundtracks...I love all the stage BGMs. :) What happened with the rest of the series, Capcom?? :)

My picks for the games of the last few years. I'm big into techno so that's the vast majority of my list:

-Jet Set Radio (DC)
-Jet Set Radio Future (Xbox)
-Ollie King (Arcade)
-Bust-A-Move Dance And Rhythm Action (PSX)
-Bust-A-Move 2: Dance Tengoku Mix (PSX)
-Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood (PCE)
-Dracula X: Nocturne In The Moonlight (PSX)
-Street Fighter III: New Generation (Arcade/DC)
-Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact Giant Attack (Arcade/DC)
-Street Fighter III: Third Strike Fight For The Future (DC/PS2/Xbox for arranged BGM)
-Ridge Racers (PSP)
-Lumines (PSP)
-Rez (DC/PS2)
-Tekken 3 (PSX)
-Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2)

The rest of the Ridge Racer games are now off my list, since Ridge Racers just so happens to have all my favorite tracks from the series plus some awesome new ones. :D

The Jet Set Radio and Ollie King soundtracks are just too damn good; it doesn't matter if you even play the games, I'd still highly recommend the soundtrack to anyone.

Napple Tale -- Great light-hearted music from Yoko Kanno, and I think Maaya Sakamoto supplies vocals on a few tracks.

Just as an aside, since it's related to game soundtracks, my girlfriend bought me the official Katamari Damacy sountrack for Christmas... total rock.

Games that haven't been mentioned yet:

F-Zero GX/AX (Wavemaster showing everyone how it's done)
Streets of Rage 1/2 (Yuzo Koshiro providing some groooovy music)
Chrono Cross (Mitsuda's finest work, and easily among the best overall game soundtracks ever)
Sword of Mana/Final Fantasy Adventure (Kenji Ito Rocks! :D )
FF Legend/SaGa series (more Kenji Ito, some of Uematsu's better work)
Kirby series (awesome catchy stuff throughout the series)
Mario Tennis GBC (Not a big Sakuraba fan, but what he pulled out of the GB chip really impresses me)
Earthbound (First game soundtrack I can recall that relied heavily on bass and dare I say a hint of jazz)
NiGHTS (more grooves)
Unreal Tournament (the original had some awesome blood-pumping tracks)

Special note to a game already mentioned: Napple Tale. Beautiful stuff. I hunted down a copy of the game based solely on the music.

Katamari Fortissimo Damacy ;)

and as far as stuff not already mentioned in this thread - ICO. There's not much music, sure, but what's there fits the game so well.

edit: Holy crap, no one mentioned PaRappa the Rapper or Um Jammer Lammy? :( So catchy, great lyrics...

Damn, I feel ashamed for having forgotten those games. ^_^;

I love the Silent HIll 2 music but I think Lyte Edge's JSR+SFIII combo is also some of the finest music I have heard this gen.

The music was by Mark Mothersbaugh, aka the genius behind (and frontman of) DEVO, and was fantastic. You're both incorrect and insane.
