Tom Henderson: Next God of War is 2.5D/metroidvania - Smaller scale than Initially thought

From a narrative perspective there's a hole between the two sagas. I'm missing the transition from savage Kratos to Daddy Kratos. GOW 2018 started in the wrong time (after her wife's death) so it would make sense to fill in that gap.

Would not be shocked if this ends up being Day 1 on the PC and Switch 1.

It just feels like the Lego Horizon sort of experimental project they'd want to try porting over there.

What?

This, give me AAA God of War!

any chance this gets revealed at summer game fest coz sony is part of it?
I think it's gonna be there. It not showing up on the SoP despite it being corroborated by Tom Henderson kinda points to it being there and it being on Switch 1 (which was also the exact same way Lego Horizon was announced officially).

How much of this failure is due to suits wanting to maximize profit and not take any risk, how much is due to santa monica being creatively bankrupt after hiring Alana Pierce as a writer for years ?

Only Jah Knows

Why is this a failure? And what does santa monica have to do with this?

As long as they are still working on AAA single player IP then this should be cool. Curious to see how it looks.

AA should be celebrated, not scorned.

So it's just the java game with better resolution?

I guess it's better than hearing a pain in the ass teenager with his nordic vegan diversity feminist friend telling everything I should do
tbh they should consider remastering that java game.

Wild West Theory: I don't think this 2D God of War Metroidvania exists. In fact, I think it was Tom's way of hinting at Marvel Tokon without spoiling the surprise of that game's reveal.

At least, that's what I'd like to say. And it would be a good thing for these insiders/leakers to do in the future because, TBH, they DO ruin a lot of the surprise of these big game reveals and it's almost impossible to ignore the leaks unless you stay offline and off social media.

It should be a new way for non-hardware related leaks to be handled by people who have the info, because I think letting the actual devs/pubs have that moment of excitement when they reveal big surprise & hyped games, is a good thing. It's their work, after all, let 'em have that moment.

Basically, stop spoiling major game reveals when the actual reveal's right around the corner. And try having some ambiguity if you're leaking stuff about the game way ahead of a reveal. Sure let the community know a thing or two but don't spoil everything ahead of the actual reveal.

Kinda surprised this wasn't at the State of Play.

Not sure if a 2D side-game would warrant the kind of money Keighley demands for his show. Unless it also accompanies another bigger God of War announcement, maybe?

Sony has shown smaller stuff like Death Stransing Director's Cut, The Last of Us Part I and Lego Horizon Adventures there, I don't think they mind that.
