Cool idea from From - Adventure Player for PSP

From the limited info so far, it looks like you can create adventures on the PC software that comes in the package, then put them on the Internet for people to download and play on their PSP. I guess a certain amount of standard adventures will be supplied by From Software to play from the start, and act as templates for new adventures.

:O

Best PSP game idea yet.*

*IMO and my opinion does not necessarily represent the opinion of others, etc., etc., etc.

From, if you make a Z-Machine compatible interpreter that runs Z-Machine games off the memory stick, I will forgive you for every bad game you have ever made ever, which if you look at your back catalog is quite a few titles.

THIS I COMMAND, THIS I DECREE

p.s. keyboard

Sounds kinda neat. Though would this be a point & click adventure or an RPG?

Either way, I can imagine some of these "home made" games getting pretty perverted and fast. :lol

This sounds AWESOME! Is there any more information? What kind of "adventure" games and are there any screenshots?
Not yet. Famitsu went ballistic on 2ch last week, so all the usual scanners are being careful.

Whoa really? I didn't hear about this... more info? :D
Someone from enterbrain.co.jp went on to the 2ch secure board and posted a warning that people posting copyright information from Famitsu will be tracked down and dealt with by the police. Allegedly scans are ok, but copy and pastes of reviews are not. Understandably, most people are too scared to put scans up anyway.

So, I take it this is like the next evolution for their RPG maker titles? If so, this could be the best fucking thing to come around in a long time. Hell, just thinking about the very idea that these can be shared online opens up so many awesome things that the GAF community could come up with, from just simply sharing eachother's games, to actually working together to make a GAF game, or something.

I've always loved the idea of things like RPG Maker and other such programs which allows for a great amount of creativity (track builders, level editors, mission editors like in Civ/XWing), so this sounds like a great idea if implemented well. Want screenshots and more info!

I wonder how this works. Are the user created games full executable files? Or do you create data files that work with the game engine on UMD?

I don't doubt it for a second.
http://www.adventureplayer.net/ is redirecting to From Software's HP for now.
Someone else reported that it will come with 3 adventures included.

Yeah based on the sources I'm certain it's real too. Just that no one seems to be specifying what an "adventure" really is. The Japanese genre definition is weird so adventure could either be visual novels (Air, Kanon), action rpgs (King's Field?) or puzzle solving games (Another). We'll just have to wait and see I guess. Still the entire PC/PSP/homdev concept is AWESOME whatever it is. :D

It'll have to be data that uses the game engine on UMD or people will just copy the PC version and forget about the UMD ;)

Famitsu this week says that the three games included are:
Kaikiken [怪奇圏] = "Strange place"
Echo Night #1 (based on PlayStation game, but with new story)
Hako no naka [ハコノナカ] = "Inside the box"

All of them are horror adventures, basically the graphic novel variety, where you get a number of choices in each area like look, move, check, open, use item, etc.

Comes out in June for 3990 yen.
