Exactly my feelings. The next counter strike should've been huge. It should've been on Valve's next engine and it should have all the options TF2 has at a MINIMUM. I'm kind of disappointed with GO actually. Anyone remember when CSS came out? The Beta stages of CSS? Goddamn it was literally mindblowing playing Aztec in the source engine. I really don't get the point of GO. They claim they want to make esports and all yet they're not showing it with their actions of what they've put in this game. Talk about future updates all you want but thats a bullshit excuse and they should've had all the stuff at launch. Why rush it out? I really hoped they would've waited till their next engine, shit would've been huge.
I feel so conflicted about CS:GO. On one hand, I'm enjoying the hell out of it and play 1-3 hours a day. On the other, there are bugs that have been in the game for weeks, if not months, that they have yet to address. On top of that, certain features, like silencers, weren't even tested in the beta and still aren't implemented.

The game is an immense amount of fun, yet all these other things build up. It feels like they should not have released it yet.

Counter-Strike 2 could still come out with HL3 and be huge...
CS2 should have a single-player campaign. There is so much potential for T vs. CT situations; combine that with Valve's top-notch storytelling, and I have no doubt they could whip up something great.

Just hag my first ESL match:

We might have been 5 v 4 because one of their team ragequit early on

Does ESL run pickup games or something? I'm getting kinda bored of playing in pubs and would love to play some more organised games.

Oh, and grats on the win!

I hadn't played CS in eight years -- and even then, I only ever played with people in college. We were all terrible, which made for great fun. It feels great to play again. But damn, CS:GO suffers from the exact same thing that eventually scares me off of every online game: there are so many people playing so seriously, even if you're playing "casual". Today I played a few rounds with some friends who had never played before. Some of them were running scared half the time, not 100% sure of exactly what they were doing but making an honest attempt (and having a lot of fun). The response we got? Ragequitting and people complaining that they were going to quit unless someone kicked them.

It's frustrating. Extremely frustrating. If I want to keep playing, should I just keep playing with randoms and put up with the put downs? Or are there specific servers I should be joining people on?

stop being bad at the game?

If Valve went balls out with the CS series it could be crazy awesome... imagine CS with the love they gave Left 4 Dead. They could come up with something really awesome I'm sure. The problem is that it's hard to do something like that without fundamentally changing a lot of things about it, which would piss off a lot of people. Possibly me as well.

A single player Counterstrike exists. It's called Condition Zero. See how that turned out.

I'm surprised at the lack of porn / graphic avatars of people. I was expecting at least to see one or two boobs but no such luck yet.

I hear good things about the single player in CZ.

Imagine playing as CTs repelling from a helicopter and busting through windows and stuff, if it were done right it could be intense.

TTP

Have a fun! Enjoy!
They should really allow to filter games by input method on PS3. Mouse users with their instant kill sniper rifles are not fun to fight against. I can hold my own with the Move, but the implementation is rather glitchy/broken so I can't use scopes and secondary gear as effectively as I should.

Also, I'm not sure if it's because I'm playing from EU on US servers, but the delay in unacceptable. The net algorithm thing is good for those who kill (you hit the target you are seeing on your end) but not for those who get killed. I'm constantly playing 2 or 3 frames "in the past", so I'm experiencing *a lot* of "behind cover deaths".

It's not fun to successfully circle strafe an opponent, get behind him, and die in front of him. I can almost hear Ken whispering "you are already dead" sometimes.

Condition Zero had single player?
Yeah, that was the big feature. Bots + single player. It was AWFUL.

I hated it. IIRC, most reviewers did as well, so I dunno. CZ was just an awful place in the CS franchise. The closest thing to what you're describing is probably some of the Xbox 1 era (in terms of time) Rainbow 6 games, like Raven Shield.

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Played a quick match on the 360 since I haven't played the console version since I grabbed the PC version. Game is still fun on consoles IMO, so I may alternate between them if I'm too lazy to walk three extra feet to my computer. It helps that the game also runs better on the 360 than it does my PC.

It's funny though, I was playing a game on de_dust using the AK47, Sawn-Off Shotgun, and the P-90. I got called a "faggot ass computer nerd" by some dude I kept killing because I wasn't using a sniper rifle.

I don't know how I should feel about that.

I don't know what you quite mean by pickup games, it has its own matchmaking system. Groups you up with 9 other people for a match (you can also form a party with mates) and you play.

Take the criticism on board. It's hard. I mean, once somebody said to me "go eat a dick." Ya just gotta, ya know, sit back and figure out what ya did to set that guy off.

I like to think if all criticism as constructive. Find him on X-Box, send him a message that says "hey, man, my bad about being a faggot ass computer nerd. I'm gonna do my part to make you proud! Wanna make out sometime?" See where it goes from there.

Oh I'm happy I made someone that upset (I'm not even good at the game, they were just really bad). I'm just trying to figure out how I'm a "computer nerd" because I don't use sniper rifles.

Those things are harder to use in this game IMO. I'm terrible with them.

The XBL trolls are in denial about their own nerdship. So they differentiate themselves with other gaming nerds by calling you a "computer nerd". It's the next level man.

You being good suggests you played that game already, which means you played CS on the PC. Or something...

Someone be honest. Is this worth playing on the PS3 with a controller?
i have a k/m, but i prefer to use controller on ps3. the k/m controls are pretty meh to say the least.

NO. Counter Strike with gamepad is a total different game, it lacks the true spirit of the game. And it's a VALVe game, the best experience is going to be on STEAM.
just because it's not as good as cs:go on pc would be, doesn't mean it's not worth playing imo.

Those are pretty much my feelings as well. But I know the point of GO. It's capitalizing on the console crowd. Bringing the game to a greater audience. I remember being infinitely disappointed when I read about CS:GO initially. It's a console money grab. There's little to no innovation, just a rehash of everything we already had in 1.6 and source. Later they claimed they were trying to unify the two communities but if they really wanted to do that they'd put a lot more PC-centric magic behind this.

I still like the game and I'm enjoying playing it but it's not the next counter strike I was hoping for. It basically just replaces source for me.

CS may have it's roots on the PC, but it still is fun on the consoles from what I gather. If you enjoy shooters on the consoles there is no reason you can not enjoy CSGO on there.

It does have bots, but I still think you need to connect to some kind of server.

Pretty sure you can play with the bots offline.

EDIT: Just double checked. You can definitely play offline with bots on any mode and map. But it's 5V5 only.

EDIT2: Worth pointing out, this is the Steam version. Can't comment on the console versions.

Is it just me or does selecting defuse/hostage make no difference in matchmaking?

I choose hostage mission and I get put on Dust 2.

I'm aware of it; heck, I've played it. But CZ's single player was a series of missions cobbled together by a couple of different studios, as I recall, not a coherent campaign by Valve, ala Portal 2.

Because of that, I don't think CZ is a fair comparison, though I understand why you're making it.

Selecting defuse always puts me in defuse, and selecting hostages usually sticks me in Office. But I've had it where, once Office finishes, I'm sent to Aztec, which I think was part of the beta rotation of classic maps.

Valve needs to:
1. Ban shitty servers from the competitive playlists (pinion white label).
2. Fix ELO. Tired of getting matched with people who have no game sense. Stop running in front of me when I'm awping. Stop getting me killed by blocking me from the side/behind.

Come on Valve... if you want to bridge 1.6 and Source players at least make the game work.

I agree 100%. Anyone who blathers on about this not being the true spirit or being vastly inferior to the pc is just plain wrong. The game handles well, the maps are well crafted and the community is there to support it. I've had no trouble adapting to the ps3 version nor have I had any problem getting competitive games going. Obviously the lack of spray pictures and the lack of mods is a big downer, but everything else is perfectly fine. This is coming from someone who used to be in a clan, do pick up tournaments etc etc. Don't let the naysayers dissuade you from this game, it really is worth the money.

Also gamepad players and kb/m players are usually separated but not always.
