Happened to me before, and littleworm also. Fix was to uninstall and reinstall the NVIDIA drivers funnily enough. They somehow messed it up so if you have an nVidia card give that a shot.

I used to play this and CSS all the time... and I'm still kind of terrible. Hard to adjust to the recoil compared to other games but I think that's part of it's charm.
