Such a great show. It's the only time I heard anime nerds say they prefer the english dub. I wish they did more commentaries.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
It hurts my soul that I can buy the Blu-Ray of Samurai Champloo: The Complete Series for $23 brand new, but the dvd collection of Cowboy Bebop is well over $100.

I still remember the first time I watched this. I believe it was in 2002, and I was changing channels very late one night. The show that came on Adult Swim before Bebop had finished and ads were airing until time for Bebop. I thought I'd wait it out to see what was coming on next, and I'm very glad I did. The opening theme drew me in and despite being somewhat sleepy, I stayed awake to watch the whole episode. And that semi-sleepiness may have aided in my viewing because I was watching this episode.......

Incredible doesn't quite cut it when talking about this show. Even after seeing every episode multiple times, none of them lose their impact. Ep 24 Spoiler
Ed and Ein leaving still crushes me to this day ;_;

The popularity of this series is my only hope for an American release of that Blu-ray at less than $300. Make it so, Funimation.

Anyways, great show. I've seen it through twice, really enjoy it. Both the story episodes and the side-stories.

The blu ray isn't too cleaned up, is it??

The thing I love about Bebop is how grimy it is.

From the review linked in the thread.

The image is clear and sharp throughout, and has obviously had some restoration, with everything clean and stable, free of dirt and scratches. The episodes now look as filmic as originally intended, with a light layer of film grain. The HD transfer brings out the richness in the colour palette, and reveals detail that you will have never seen before. I’m such a nerd, I actually paused the disc 5 minutes into episode 7 so I could read the text on a poster plastered on a toilet door. If you want an example of greater elegance, just feast your eyes on the stained glass window in the church at the end of episode 5. If you had any doubts as to whether Bebop would look good in HD, then lay them to rest. Bebop looks fantastic.

Sounds amazing!

My #1 favorite of all time. Couldn't tell you how many times I've watch it between my DVDs and it appearing on [adult swim] for the last... many years. Samurai Champloo and Kids on the Slope were also excellent works from Watanabe, but I don't think he'll ever top Cowboy Bebop.

It'll definitely get an American release eventually. Guaranteed. I just want it as soon as possible. Would be right on time for my next rewatch. I give the show another viewing every year or two and cannot wait to see it in fully restored glory. Bebop is a close to perfection as a show gets. I'd totally import if it didn't mean trying to get a Blu-Ray player of the right generation as well.

I don't think anyone will ever top this! With the amount of praise it gets you'd think it was overrated from an outsiders point of view. But nope. Deserves every inch of praise it gets!

Funny thing is that supposedly it's not very popular at all in Japan. It has much more appeal and critical acclaim in the west.

Man, this thread is getting me all nostalgic now.

I watched this show when I was in elementary school. It was a lesson in style for me, and it totally shaped my developing definition of "cool."

The 00's brought about a decade of sterile, Apple-Store-esque visions of the future. I loved Cowboy Bebop's (and by extension the 90's) vision of a functionally designed future not dominated by touch-screens and white, dust-resistant surfaces. It felt so alive and lived in and real.

the dub's ending to jupiter jazz part 2 is probably my favorite scene from the show. everyone hits their marks so well.

So many good episodes, but Wild Horses might be my favorite. Just something about the way they revealed the space shuttle Columbia being the "old piece of junk" Doohan was working on, before they use it to save Spike.
