But Watanabe said that Spike survived...

I might be the only one who hopes this isn't the case. His finally accomplished what he set out to do and got his
revenge for both taking Julia from him and then killing her and pretty much everyone connected to Spike during the series.

It was a fitting end to our space cowboy and I want it to stay that way.

Edit: That Blu-Ray set looks fantastic btw. Looks like I have to pick it up when they release it state-side.

No single series has shaped my life as Cowboy Bebop did, totally veered my music tastes far off from people around me for better or worse.

So many feels. Beautiful in every way. :(

Bebop goes from true tear-jerking moments to absolute hilarious ones the next episode. Its thought-provoking. Sentimental. True emotions. None of that fake forced stuff. You FEEL for each character. Its just amazing.

This is the series by which I judge all other anime.

It cultivated my love for jazz, a love that isn't shared by anyone I know.
But if someone is riding in my car, they're just going to have to put up with listening to some Cannonball Adderley or Wayne Shorter etc. from time to time.

Perfect list. To be fair you could close your eyes and select any handful of tracks from Bebop and you'd have an amazing playlist on your hands! But yeah the songs you've chosen are ones I love loads!

I've seen bits and pieces of this over the years, but recently I decided I need to watch it straight through from the first episode to form an opinion... and I still don't get it. I mean, I don't want to say it's bad because it has redeeming qualities but I don't think it works as a series. Of the 26 episodes maybe 2 or 3 are actually devoted to the ongoing story and not just monster of the week. I think there is a good film noir underneath everything, but it probably should've been a 2 hour movie instead of a pointless TV series.

My favorite episode is the one where they go to earth to get the Beta tape.

Speak like a Child. That's a good one. My favorite has to be Hard Luck Woman. That scene at the end with Spike and Jet. So good. The whole series is pretty much a masterpiece, but that one has always stuck out in my mind. They still air it every Saturday night on Toonami if anyone is interested in seeing it.

My Cowboy Bebop BD (part 1) should arrive today according to Amazon but we'll see.

Never the less... awesome. I haven't watched Cowboy Bebop in years (not since the days of CNX), I can't wait.

A series need not have each episode significantly contribute to an ongoing story in order to be good.

The way I see each episode is as a "day in the life of" kind of affair. You're throwing in the deep end. Not at the beginning. Just a usual day at the bebop. And some days not much happens. Some days the unbelievable happens. But again its just a day in Spike and the gangs life. You 're a fly on the wall you could say.

Freaking love this show, it's probably my favorite TV show of all time, anime or not. (and that's something surprising to hear myself say because I never really cared about anime until I watched Cowboy Bebop for the first time last year)

Great OT by the way! I was surprised to see why one was made but now I know why... and that's because they released a region locked UK bluray set!? What the hell, I'm dying here for Cowboy Bebop on Bluray, this better be a sign that they have an American bluray set in the works!
Don't tell me I'm setting myself up for disappointment. ;_;

I know it's been said, but I'm pretty jealous of the UK.

Is Funi the only hope we have of this in the US?

It's pretty surreal to be fair. Apart from Ghibli releases for some reason the UK usually get the short end of this stick. To get this with no strings attached is mind blowing. I was shocked. We're getting a similar affair with Gurren Lagann too later this year!

I'd guess Funi or Manga would be possible in the US?

In case anyone is wondering, Part 2 is available for pre-order too!

Part 2

I've already heard of quite a few Americans reverse importing this and some of the other cheap Bluray releases we've been getting. Apparently there are Bluray players you can get where you can change the region code using a special code on the remote control? Might be worth looking in to that.

Haha I found it really cute and a change of tone :p

I thought there were some fun character moments with Jet and others such as
Spike and Faye being told to smoke outside which was the highlight of the episode for me.

I didn't care too much for the plot though in terms of the girl and her father. That and I thought the relationship Jet had with her was odd and a bit out of character for him.

Can't wait for the live-action film starring Keanu Reeves.

J/K, don't kill me. Actually, I'm not kidding that much. I'd see that.

Sure, but Bebop is a serial and I think it fails in that format. There are plenty of good entirely episodic series, I agree.

But why do you think it fails in that format?

i did not appreciate the episode where Jet is into little girls, no

I guess you could see it that way lol. I found it cute lol.

Region beg, |OT|

I don't blame anyone! It's the must have anime Blu-ray!

I think that's what I liked about it. It was so out of left field and out of character lol.Make no mistake Mushroom Samba, Toys in the attic and Brain scratch or more my cup of tea but I've always had a thing for weird episodes in anime that are a bit slower and less appreciated.

From those screenshots, I'm extremely impressed by the remaster. The DVD release always had horrible artifacting and interlacing in parts.

Seriously? They couldn't release the whole series, they had to do it in two parts?

I bought the whole series when it came out. One DVD at a time. At $50 each. (Yay, $300.)

What the hell... Where is the American release?

Moving to a new place next weekend and just packed up my Amazon Complete Sessions DVD set (that I bought during the summer of 2002 after finishing high school). man... That was a long time ago.

Yeah I cant complain to be honest. It's 2X BD50. I'd rather they take their time and make sure they are released in the best way possible I guess! They are doing the same with Lagann later this year.

Part 2 comes with all 1 minute 2 seconds of Ein's Summer Vacation.

I'm probably one of the few people in favor of a reboot of Cowboy Bebop in the vein of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

I just love this universe and the material so much. 26 episodes just wasn't enough.

BTW did anyone else enjoy Boogie Woogie Feng Shui? One of my faves!

Jet's episodes were always really well done episodes and some of my favorites. There was always a bit of randomness to them and at points you weren't 100% sure how'd they would turn out.

Jet held onto the past and never let go, even after leaving it all behind.

Part 2 comes with Ein's summer vacation. A short never seen before 1 min clip that also came with the JP Blu-ray. You can see it here

Extremely cute!

bitch I'm taking calls.
The nods to jazz culture and style are without parallel for Cowboy Bebop. It really is an irreplaceable part of the charm of the show for me. Bought the soundtrack off Amazon a few months ago and its just amazing to listen to and fits right in with other CDs like Miles Davis when I am working on a project, doing some house cleaning, or entertaining friends while sipping my drink in a chill environment.

Here is one of my favorite tracks that I don't see get enough love. Also serves as a good answer to people who are port begging:

*Insert generic region beg for North America release here*

Don't bother none.

Thanks! I agree with you. Jet just exudes this different charm in his episodes. Such a fun guy!

Agreed. It's fantastic stuff! Have my headphones on right now and I've got the soundtrack on loop as always!
