Crowd running to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3

Even then, you are at E3, literally tons of games and experiences to choose and enjoy, with a limited time to play what you want to play, and all those people decided to spend a good percentage of those hours waiting for the chance to play Zelda.

And I am aware to the vast majority of this people its their job to play it. But if there was no hype for it, they wouldn't bother hard enough to fill the line in less than half an hour..

Last day of e3? No fucks given
Not on the South Hall. Security was heavy over there. Resident Evil VR was a mad house. Capcom had tickets (less than 100 a day) and I applaud them for telling exhibitors to get out of the ticket line because they hoarded the tickets on Tuesday.

Any footage of that? I heard Kotaku tweeted something about it.

If a console only has one major title coming out for the next year, then people reacting this way makes sense. Game looked like fun.

Boo hoo people are excited about something

Be excited. I am. I'm also over 30 years old and honestly can't imagine running for something like a video game, especially in public

Little kids, I totally get it I have some. But I think adults are held to certain expectations of conduct for a reason

Just so you know, I'm not picking on just gamers. I'll scoff at any adult who participates in black Friday shopping and runs to grab stuff off displays and whatnot

And years ago when there was that twilight princess reveal and they showed these guys crying... it honestly triggered me... in like a bad way. Why are you crying? It's awesome to be pumped man, trust me. But let's be reasonable here

If the demo had turned out to be crap, the craze would have lessened with each passing day. But it wasn't, and it didn't. There was a ton of belittling assumptions, apathy, and outright negativity before E3 started (just look at some of the threads from earlier this week), but as people got their hands on it, posted impressions, watched editors/media outlets heap their praises on it, etc., it just built and built to the video in the OP. That's pretty awesome, and I find it funny that there are folks trying to undermine how successful they were this year. Yeah, it's only one game, but it's practically all anyone can talk about. That's crazy given the quality of so many other games on display!

Wow, I mean....I loved the trailer and gameplay I saw online, but I wouldn't run to wait on a long line to play the game. But this does indicate that Nintendo really took everyone by surprise with this new Zelda adventure.

I do wonder though, will people run out to get Wii U's after E3 thanks to Zelda, or just wait until the NX comes out some point next year and get Zelda on that.

Either way, Nintendo has a hit and hopefully people are happy with the final game.

I gave away my WiiU yesterday.......no regrets. Will get an NX. It looked cool. But it's not like anything I saw was new for a game. It was just refined really well. But I refuse to run to a booth just for a demo

Now Nintendo......give me a Pokemon mmorpg for the NX and you basically just sold 50 million guaranteed consoles

I'm 33 years old. I'll be 34 in three months.

I've teared up multiple times watching the Breath of the Wild trailer. Zelda is the reason I started playing video games and something like BotW is why I still do.

If you think that's not "reasonable", oh well. :)

You spent a month waiting to be accepted into an exclusive video forum, you hypocritical dumbass.

*in grovelly preacher voice* Do it, sinners!! Do it before the arriving rapture!! Muuahahaha! Run forth and enjoy your flimsy fleeting pleasures while I...(sigh)...tend my garden.

Hahaha, KO.

Anyway, I'm not surprised people were running to the booth. I've heard the lines for the demo were extreme, and Zelda seems to be the stand-out star of the show that almost everybody wanted to try.

God damn, people never want to never give Nintendo credit. Its like their successes are always due to luck or something.

??

I didn't run down the hallway every morning and check my email to see if it was approved. I signed up and eventually checked and my login worked

Don't see how signing up for a forum = running in public towards a video game

Not trying to make fun of anyone. I just don't think it's appropriate for adults to cry and run for video game announcements

Just trying to see why people would feel the urge to do so, honestly

It's OK, really. No offense just voicing an opinion

What does this even mean? Was he running the whole time while waiting? Did he never leave his computer, checking over and over just to make sure he got in right away when he was finally accepted into NeoGAF? 2/10 burn.

Im 30 and my fat ass is running in that video.

Only because I didnt want to wait more than 2 hours for that coin.

haha did you get to play? What'd you think?
Its cool. Need more time to make a firm judgement. The thing I dont like about it is that your weapons can break, like in fallout.

Your clothes look like the give stat bonuses, like in standard rpgs. Dont know if that was stated in any of the e3 streams.

But all in all, its great. Looked better in person.

What I don't understand is -- after you see the first 100 people ahead of you, why would you even bother at that point? That's literally hours youd have to wait to play. Logic tells me to cut my losses while Im ahead.

I understand being passionate about a product, but I wouldve turned around and moonwalked out of there after seeing all of those people ahead of me.

Pax prime had a line for skyrim two hours long and the game was literally two months from release......people I guess really wanted to play it lol

First of all, there's nothing wrong with getting excited about a video game. That's what we do on GAF every single day.

Second of all, the people running are all adults, and they don't give a shit if what they are doing is "childish". Middle schoolers are the only ones who are worried about appearing childish.

You obviously care enough about video games to sign up for a forum that is dedicated entirely to them. Don't assume that other people are man-children just because they like video games slightly more then you do.

I was there during the three days - the line today was INSANE. I started filming from start to end and the video lasted almost four minutes.

I must say that the game was somewhat rough in the graphics department but it did some amazing things - it's easily the greatest departure in the series since Ocarina of Time.

To be honest though, I think a very large percentage rushed to the booth to get that Zelda t-shirt and coin, much more than to play the game. Nintendo had probably the biggest E3 loot. It also helped that the booth looked so call and the Nintendo girls were easily the best of the show ;-)

Lol I love that gif but did it really need its own thread

I can just see myself running at the back of the line and waiting 8 hours and getting shafted. That's how cons and expos usually go for me

They'd probably get a few console sales if they released a proper demo for it lol. Are they still planning on launching it at the same time on both Wii U and NX?

nintendo making iwata proud right now.

god i miss iwata.

Watching the Zelda reveal and the worldwide reaction, I have to wonder something. Iwata always said one game could turn anything around, and was scoffed at by cynics and armchair CEOs.

But this game is so huge, was in development for so long, and must have a vast budget by Nintendo standards... it's obviously a project Iwata signed off on years ago, and kept the faith with all that time. Didn't rush it, didn't cut the budget, just put everything into reinventing Zelda. So I wonder if, to a large degree, this was the "one game" he had in mind whenever he'd repeat his saying to shareholders or journalists.

I was there. I ran. If you didn't run, you didn't get to play the game.

Worth it.

This is what I assumed about the GIF when I saw it. It was the more practical option to take more than anything.

You've never run when a store is closing soon/you're late for something/to catch a train/anything in your life? People were running because it was an insanely long wait otherwise and they're there specifically to check out the games on display. Not that hard to understand.

it just tears my heart that hes not able to see the complete product by this time next year.
Its awesome to see the reception of Breath of Wild be good because that would of been devastating to alot of people if it got poor reception

Not sure what the big deal about this is. I've been to 4 or 5 E3s and for every day of the show on any year there's always a crowd running when the doors open. E3 lines are no joke if you just have a pleb E3 pass and have to wait for literally hours to play one game

I'd run too if it means I don't have to spend 5 hours in line just to get a little hands-on time. Plus, there's the appeal of free shit with the shirt and coin so yeah.

It's nice to see Nintendo get a bit of positive attention for a few days though.

I mean I dunno about other people in this thread but I would be sprinting down to play. I don't think these people in the video are moving quick enough. Shame on them
