Crysis 3 Open Beta starting Jan 29th

Looking forward to playing this. Hopefully it's an improvement over 2's which I thought was janky as hell.

if you're playing on 360 its just as janky if not worse than what C2 was.

Matchmaking is still horrendous. Two players in the lobby with green connections while everyone else is mostly red with few yellow.

feels like a step backwards to me.

Thank freaking god.

I was a bit worried that my i5-760 OC'ed at 3.4 would bog me down despite my GTX680. No such problems! It looked and ran great. Maxed everything with only 1 X MSAA, no V-Sinc (didn't notice tearing). I didn't run FRAPS, but I'd say it's between 45 and 60, which I can live with.

I survived 2 hunter rounds by finding cover and ducking. Several hunters walked right by me. I resisted the urge to pop them. It's fun, but I'm not really a multi-player guy. I'm really looking forward to the single player game.

AMD 13.2 beta, if not posted yet:
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst132BetaDriver.aspx

•Improves performance up to 15% in high MSAA cases for the Crysis 3 beta release
◦Future updates will be made to AMD Catalyst 13.2 Beta to further improve performance in Crysis 3 for both single GPU and CrossFire configurations

•Significantly improves latency performance in Skyrim, Boderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2
•Improves single GPU performance up to 50% for DmC Devil May Cry
•Improves CrossFire performance up to 10% for Crysis 2
•Resolves Texture flickering seen in DirectX9.0c applications.

I thought this game was going to make my PC catch on fire??
I was getting 30-60FPS on a 4.1 AMD FX 4100,1GB 550TI OC'd and 8GB DDR3 Ram @ 720p with everything on high except shading, shadows and water on medium. AA disabled or FXAA on made no difference to me and motion blur on medium also. Weird thing is 1080p wasn't a option for me but my downsampling resolutions were.

This is only multiplayer and many of the effects seem to be disabled. I expect SP to be much more taxing.

This feels a lot like an expansion for Crysis 2. Hell, even the menu's look like they're straight out of Crysis 2. Hopefully the single player feels more unique. It runs pretty well though (Nvidia 313.96 drivers).

It wasn't broken. I loved the C2 Menus, and these ones seem to be smoother. Also I very much disliked C2 MP.

"Looks pretty much the same, 360 blurryness aside..." That's what my friend who only has a 360 and doesn't like to play on PC would say.

No they don't.

If you can't spot texture details or the lighting nuances it's you not the game. Besides the clarity factor those two huge things that separate what a pc does well and the what hd twins don't.

Very proud of my 570/2500k keeping a SOLID 30fps on High. Definitely more difficult to run than Crysis 2, but it looks solid. I just am not a fan of Crysis multiplayer, so if anything this beta has made me more excited for the SP.

I can't play this in 1080P. I only see 720P and a few downsampled resolutions I made from Windows in the selection box. The game looks MUCH better in 1440P for me but it stays around mid 20's and up and that's playable for me since it looks so much better.

i5 2500k, GTX 560 1GB, 8gb DDR 3, 1280x1024, SMAA T2X
Water and Object on Medium, rest on High, Motion Blur Medium, Aniso 16x

Tested on Airport Crash Site 16 players matches, 60+fps with rare dips to 50s.

I'm not worried about SP performance at all :)

Played the PS3 beta, that input lag! Resolution is noticeably lower than the beta on 360. Framerate is also worse.

Crytek won't get my money this time. There are better performing multiplatform games coming out soon.

I know it's a beta but... this beta is just... wack... for lack of a better term. I'm on Xbox 360 and this game is janky, the textures look like poo, the gameplay is so rough. Hunter mode is broken as crap, it couldn't be any easier for the hunters.

I don't know how it is on PC for you guys, but don't even waste the space on your HDD on 360 for this thing. I mean if you like Crysis 2 and stuff go ahead... maybe Crysis just isn't my thing.

Really? Maybe I'm playing with dumb people, but I've won buttloads of matches by grabbing a shield, holing myself up in a closed place and tossing the shield on any passerby hunters.

Nvm this game's MP suck. It's just boring. I tried to play like 10 matches and I quit because of how terrible it is. Rough shooting mechanics, bland looking maps, janky movement and just no flow to the match. The Crysis games always felt so prosaic.

No one did that in the matches I played... that's a really good idea. But, the bow is way easy to get kills with. Just get a nice vantage point somewhere and pick kids off.

It works because most people do not realize the hunter has an explosive arrow, but hiding in a room with others also works. Just make sure the hunters have to actually storm the room to kill you.

This, is really satisfying (especially when they don't see you and suddenly WAM.)

The explosive arrow is also pretty satisfying. Tag a dude in a room/corner full of campers and when it explodes pick off the stragglers.

Averaging 40-50 fps everything maxed, lens flare off, post processing low. TXAA is a bit more taxing than SMAA, some big dips jumping into water. Some pretty bad texture loading at times seemingly.

GTX 680
i5 3570K

Both at stock. Will try with the new beta drivers anyway.

Edit: at 1080p.

Motion blur is off as well.

Following up on this, Beta drivers having giving me about a 10-15 fps increase.

Game looks like ass on PS3. No motion blur, characters and guns seem less detailed than 2, and the resolution seems even worse. No motion blur is the worst part, it really kills the Crysis look. The contrast also seems to be messed up. Dark areas look very washed out, even when I set the brightness properly. Not my TV either, I set it up with test patterns and it looks right for everything else.

That said, the game is a lot more fun than the MP of 2 was. These new modes are way cooler than any in the last game. I just dominated a game of Crash Site and Hunter is really neat, especially with the Aliens style radar pings.

Hunter is the only "new" game mode. crash site was in Crysis 2.

Of course they don't. I played the 360 version and it looks horrible. Unfortunately my card doesn't support DX11 so I can't play the PC version. :(

Man, I'm convinced Crysis 2 looks a lot better (on 360 at least). Motion blur, improved AA and draw distance, even better performance (although they both run terribly).

The bow is freaking amazing in this game. *looks at avatar, nods* Hunter really isn't my thing but crash site is pretty good...I'll be sticking to deathmatch in full game though. I feel bad for console users here; this game was meant for PC. I don't know how you'd aim with the bow on console.

Yeah, the resolution is so low! x.x I think I'll stick to BF3 to get my multiplayer FPS fix.

Really enjoyed crash site mode. Hunter felt a little pointless but the map is actually super well designed, shame you only realise this after a few rounds. The faster climbing animation and well placed ledges/breaks between trees and buildings mean that the best players are jumping around all over the place and it looks and feels cool as hell.

Game also runs well, not perfect but definitely good enough.

Running a 680m and i73630qm and I get around 40FPS on all high settings, objects on very high, with SMAAx2 (or whatever the third lowest AA is) and v-sync at 1920x1080. It looks nice too, although I was a little confused by the lack of a 'toggle DX11 or DX9' option until I saw the minimum requirements...

I wish there was a better breakdown of what each graphical setting did though. Curious to see what I'm missing out on between high and very high.
