I'm not saying that Schilling will give Warren a serious test (though, again, that midterm electorate.) I'm just trying to dispel the notion that the idea of his campaign is any way farcical, and that he can't be the GOP candidate in that race.
In the current climate, against a popular incumbent, a GOP Senate candidate in Mass is like a Democratic candidate in Oklahoma. Any reasonable primary challenger is a bigger threat to Warren than Schilling. I think things will be even worse for outspoken Trump supporters during the next midterm. Once Trump loses embarrassingly, the GOP is going to do everything they can to distance themselves from him and every Democrat is going to make sure the GOP is remembered as the party of Trump for as long as they can.
