Custom Cover Art - Minimalist, clean, or alternative box arts for your favorite games

Does anybody by chance have a dual cover for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? Basically I'd like a GameCube cover for the Zelda Collector's Edition (with the first TLoZ, Zelda II, OoT and MM), because the stock one is butt ugly.

I'm easy to please, but the cover should just focus on Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, with maybe just a small mentioning on the front like "includes The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: Adventure of Link". Also if it isn't too much to ask, I'd really like a front cover for OoT and MM that really "clicks" together so to speak, like they belong with each other, in stead of two separate feelings. I've got something pretty sweet in mind, but it's kinda hard to put in on text. This is what I got: http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/3074/ra0i.png. Note that I did this just for the structure, it's not like I'm going to print this hideous thing I made in 15 minutes. :p

Do please use your own creativity, you don't have to use exactly the same pictures or with those specific instruction, but I'd appreciate it if the structure is kinda like that one. A blank template can be downloaded here, credit to Sarashi from VGboxart. I had to say it, otherwise he'd eat my soul, lol.

do you want it to look retail or minimal?

edit: I apparently didn't read the last paragraph.

Found this piece of art while looking for stuff to use and really liked it. I'll still try to do an OoT/MM cover but this I really liked.

Anyone have the Tales of Graces F reuploaded? The OP link is dead.
From the OP:
Here is a link to the Dropbox backup I created. It contains all covers that I was able to download (that had working links) from both the Custom Cover Art thread and the original PS3 redesign thread.

To get to the full size covers, go to "Custom Covers/[System of your choice]/Large". The "Small" folders are for the 3D Box Previews. "Printed Covers" is for pictures people have taken of the covers from this thread that they've printed.

To download the full resolution of a cover, click the thumbnail/filename, then right click it and select "Download". Although Dropbox will display a scaled preview, the file you download will be full size.

It is possible to change the view between the thumbnail grid and detail view of filenames with this button:

jP52EX1k0xVpL.PNG

The detail view is useful to find particular games within the folder for systems with large numbers of covers, since you can use Ctrl+F to search for a particular games.

All covers in the Dropbox should be correctly named with their corresponding game, in JPEG format, and tagged with their author. If you notice a cover that has incorrect metadata or is a duplicate, please PM me, Zajora. If you notice a cover that was created by a member and posted in one of the threads but is not included in the Dropbox, please let me know. :)

Also: Please do not link directly to any covers in the Dropbox. I can't guarantee that I won't change the folder organization or the filename, which would lead to a broken link.

Excellent job Wolfgang, I prefer the top almost entirely because of the falling characters in the bottom left corner. Any chance you could take a crack at making that cover for the other systems it's on?

Thanks firebird06 :) There's just something I don't like about either cover; I can't put my finger on it...

Sure, I can port to other systems; which ones were you after?

I have been following this post for a while and finally was able to create an account. I want to thank you guys so much for all these awesome covers. As soon as I can, I will upload a pic of all the covers I printed.

Hey guys, I was wondering if somebody could post a Batman Arkham Origins cover here please, thanks :) Oh and I also have a custom PS4 temp made from a scan (Killzone) and was wondering if somebody could print it and insert it into an actual PS4 case. I will also upload a .png file for free use.

This is for free use:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/olehm40crzdz1ym/ps4temp_beta.png

This is for being printed and inserted into an actual case (the image is in better quality once downloaded):

Because creating is fun, porting is a chore ;)

I'm loving your work on the covers, but I'm not sold on the drop shadow you used on the Wii U logo and the name of the game. I also believe you could pick some other font for the name on the side of the box, I was thinking something less curvy.

I think I'll be using a few of these, again, great job!

Thanks for the feedback; I didn't spend too much time choosing a font - I sort of rushed in when I was making my first cover but I've been happy with it - it's extremely legible without being too in your face.

The drop shadow is another story; I tried both no DS and a lighter DS; each didn't work when printed out. One thing I did not want is different coloured logos on the spine; I wanted this to be as uniform as possible and this was the best solution. Adding a stroke didn't work well either.

I will look into that font though - any ideas?

Alright guys, I am humbly making the first request of 2014, and I'd like all of you top artists to work your magic.

Frozen, blu-ray cover.

I'd very much appreciate it if you could make two versions of whatever you masters cook up: one with the English title (Frozen) and another with its French one (La reine des neiges). There's plenty of art to go around on the net.

Go ! (and thank you!!)

hmmm?

Damn, those are good ! I really like the juxtaposition between the front and back cover. :)

But I wonder if the low resolution would be noticeable when printed. Was there really no higher resolution files of those ?

And could you do another ? I'd very much like to see what else you can come up with. Elsa and Anna should be kept as the main focus of attention. I don't care much for the other characters anyway.

thanks !

not plain. plus while searching for the posters i found someone had already done it, so i kinda stopped looking for higher res files. I'll see if I can actually find higher res versions tomorrow.

edit: also I'm assuming Elsa and Anna are the two girls that are in that pic? Never saw the movie.

Alright, thanks. Do you use the Search by Image extension by Google for Chrome ? This is how I find higher-res images. You right click on an image that's on the Internet, select "Search Google with this image", and it brings you to a screen where you can click on another link at the top entitled "All sizes" or something like that, and it brings you a fuckton of identical images with varying resolutions, sorted in descending order. Everyone here should use it. It's a fantastic tool. If you find several images of the same high-resolution, you should check them all out one by one before picking one though, as some are of poor quality.

And yes, Anna and Elsa are the two girls from above; they are the protagonists of Frozen.

And you should go see this movie as soon as humanely possible. Had it not been of the triple Palme d'Or-winning La vie d'Adèle, it would have been my favorite movie of 2013.

Thanks again for your work. I always feel sleezy coming here and requesting stuff, but it's really my only way of getting a hand on these great works, as I can't do it myself.

edit: here are some images I found the other day. They are all of the highest resolution and best quality I could find. I'm unsure if they'll be of any help to you, as they don't really seem to be pertinent to covers, but I'm putting them here anyways.

I think that's about as finalized as I'm able to make it. I just never saw anyone test it. Anyone else is welcome to improve it.

I'm actually trying to work on a cover using your template, but I'm having the worst trouble with the spine. Do you know what the dimensions ought to be? I'm hoping to create two variations of each cover, one with the grey spine and one with a continual image.

EDIT: I printed off the blank template, and it's too tall and too wide. I had to cut a bit off of the side in order for it to fit.

That means the original dimensions I used aren't correct, and we still don't know the actual pixel dimensions of an Xbox One case. Someone else confirmed their identical to a Blu-Ray case art right?

I have an Xbox One template, its a .png file and it looks more 'retail', so what you will have to do is get an Xbox One logo and place it over the current oone. By the way, dont put a logo on the front (I have added some Forza 5 specs).

Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/633w1b4uxj1e7ma/xboxone.png

EDIT: To make a .psd file, what you will have to do is select all the grey and fill it as I did in a seperate layer, the font used for the specs is Segoe UI, but sometimes you might need to use a different type, thats it :) I hope people enjoy this

I can't print that out right now, but I did measure out my xbox one retail jackets. The dimensions IRL are simple:

10.5" complete length
5 3/4" height
one panel (front or back) is 5" across, and the spine is 0.5".

I'm gonna need that in pixels man. At 300 pixels per square inch. I guess I could calculate that in Photoshop or something.

Your guess is better than mine. I don't have a scanner and I suspect my math is off. Unless the complete surface area IS 60.375 inches. Somehow...

After some fun with learning about refilling printer ink cartridges and getting some replacement PS3 BD cases, I've got my first few covers printed out. Thinking about getting a small pack of glossy paper for better results, but pretty happy with what I've got so far, aside from the slightly oversized spine logos.

Gonna get to the rest of the collection then. Hopefully a Puppeteer cover will pop up at some point.

Where did you get the replacement PS3 cases?

Amazon. Also have 360 cases too, dunno 'bout others since I didn't check. Little warning though - on the replacement cases, the "Blu-ray Disc" logo at the top is centered instead of aligned to the right, so that can be annoying if you're particular about consistency and don't want mismatched cases in your collection. Even so, I prefer that to having damaged used cases or the red Greatest Hits cases.

"D"

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
Anyone started churning out PS4 cases or a template yet?

I remember an old issue of EGM or Gamepro I once bought that had the best Wind Waker alternate cover, I used it in my copy of it. It stayed in there until 2010 when I let a friend borrow it, a year later he claimed to have given the game back to me when he never did. I ended up getting myself another copy at that point but I missed the alternate box art. After some internet searching I found a photo of it.

I know it's a long shot but does anyone by any chance have a link to a scan of this artwork?

Beautiful. Well done :)
Those look absolutely gorgeous, and I plan on downloading them and using them myself in the near future.

Think you can do one for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? I'd love to see what you could whip up yourself with your skillset.

Thanks so much for the compliments - really appreciate it! :)

Sure, I've been meaning to give MH a go; it's just never been available cheap in PAL-land :(
I'll see what I can come up with for you.

In the interest of consistency in my collection, I got off my lazy duff and cobbled together my own cover for Puppeteer. Grab it here.

EDIT: Seems the 3D box art script thingy fugged up a bit. Oh well, it still serves its purpose either way.
