CV LOI playing. comments

a couple of quick cliff notes

a) Leon Belont is such a ugly coiffed homosexual I want to cut off that slick of hair that sticks to his face.

b) Sara his beloved looked like she had down syndrome and I just laughed through her entire death sequence.

c) everyone else in this game is also damn ugly. Like they hired kids to do the 3d modelling

d) Names. What is with naming the head vampire Walter. Hello Mr Kronkite.

e) the fantastic 2d art does NOT carry across to 3d. I image the team trying to replicate the 2d art from the gba CV. Bad idea.

f) fawful voice acting.

g) not enough platforming

that aside, I'm rather enjoying the game (corridors or no corridors...) you get to run through it bypassing monsters to get places so its not that bad.. to their credit, the rooms don't relock after you leave the room... kind of like a 3d Metrovania (without the vertical exploration). Good enough I guess.

Bosses are really fun. BLoody medusa head was a challenge (she was my second boss) and netted my most powerful weapon expander.

Anyhow... not as bad as it's made out to be. 6.8/10 :) still ongoing but I made it past the awful sewer stage so...

I love Castlevania but LOI is repetitive and has poor level design. I enjoyed it but completely forgot about it as soon as I went back to SotN.

I would like to spoil you the ending...But well, about the game:

I am still waiting IGA to pop from his cove and explain me what makes different LOI from CV64.
He bashed the game in every fucking interview they did to him...yet his results wer the same. Long life to KCEO and KCEK.

My god can't you shut up? You had some SMALL details about a game that isn't even worth renting!!
Take you time and effort AND PLEASE take your money for another game. Buy yourself a used Atari 2600 or something. More fun there.

I enjoyed CV64 mor (probably because Leon looks like a pansy), although i will say LoI has a brilliant soundtrack (the best i've heard in a long time).

I'm looking forward to playing the next 3d Csv, although i think i'll rent it this time.

Certainly IGA established a superior action game engine than what was done with CV64, but I still think the N64 Castlevania games were more robust, more complete, more fun, and ultimately, made for significantly superior CV experiences, flaws and all.

Yeah, Csv64's gameplay was diversified by its platforming.

I also enjoyed the original characters, but it's shame Konami didn't expand on them as much.

EGM gave Csv64 a positive review, scoring a Gold.

well.. didn't get too far into the N64 Cvs but this game ain't too horrible. Glad I didn't listen to the guys who told me to NOT play it. Seriously underrated as is. I quite appreciate it for what it is. Serious though... the 3d models = :lol. Its such a B game that it makes what's there ... sort of okay. I guess considering the lineage it shouldn't suck

some art. ART IS GOOD.

you didn't have to come into this thread. No one made you click to read it. You shut up.

The art is great though. Same guy (or girl?) as Shymphony of the Night and GBA Castlevanias. Please post more!

EDIT: and of course i'll post here as Castlevania is one of my fav series of all. My opinion is that LOI is the weakest of the bunch and it may not be your point of view but one thing is for sure, we have to accept we have different views about this game dude.

Anyways, the art is not the problem. The problem is the repetitive level design (CV64 was much more superior in that sense) that hurts a lot the exploration factor (making it tedious). When you do an exploration game you need to give the player the feeling he is exploring new things...and not just the same corridors all over again...
That's why SOTN is so awesome. Every single fucking room is different from the previous.
