Well, after 40 hours with PL installed, I can't play the game anymore cuz of constant crashes when loading saves. There were crashes before, but the game actually loaded saves, but now it's unplayable, literally. There's a ton of people having the same issue and even worse (can't even get the game running). WTF, CDPR? How is this even got through QA and testing before release?

Yea there is something up with progression in general. I didn't had the save crash, but the longer i played the game the more stutters happened every minute or two when u run to different area's. Saw some other people also have the same issue even while at the start there is nothing of such stuff.

It's VRAM leak, the plague the game will never get a fix for cuz CDPR can't do anything about it and they don't give a fuck.

Dogtown is an awesome location. The gigs and sidequests are much more entertaining and decisions in them feel much more dire than the base game gigs and side quests. I still think this whole "President" storyline is a bit over the top, something I thought from the get go, but we'll see how it plays out. Still fairly early.

Overall VERY satisfied so far

It gets worse even if u close the game down the longer the save is. I dunno what's wrong with there saving system but i just decided to kept playing anyway to finish it.

I never figured out where dogtown actually ends. I loved the chaos in the town but is the outside the gate area also considered dog town? i never figured that out.

Nope outside the gate area is Pacifica. Go to Map and zoom all the way out, scroll over, and it'll show you the map piece that makes up Dogtown

I can't say anything about PL cuz I'm not that far into my second playthrough to start playing and check it out, but on my 3080Ti it takes quite a while before VRAM leak starting to show its ugly effin' face in the main game content. But if you've 8GB GPU or less.... it's a nightmare.

The way it’s integrated is actually pretty smart. It’s a separate map that’s only accessible via one gate and game unloads the main city as you get the security scan. I think that’s why it looks so much better. It’s a small area but it’s packed with details.

Seems a ton of us have had gamebreaking bugs, many different ones, which have impacted all saves. Crazy how they've claimed the game is "fixed", let alone this being three years after launch.

I believe you guys, but are you talking about the dlc here? I mean, I'm at 250+ hours now (finished it multiple times), and with maybe hundreds of saves, but except visual glitches I only experienced one broke mission, and that was right after launch.. It got fixed in a patch and after that I haven't really experienced anything negative.

I recently started over from scratch with 2.0 and I'm about 15-20 hours in (have not played PL yet), and the only thing I've noticed is the AI sometimes crashing with other cars.

Why do we have such wildly different experiences, it's odd.

Edit: I also use mods via Vortex.

I mean, I completed the game back at launch and never had any game breaking bugs, every bug was either minor or just needed a restart to fix so I didn't mind it too much.

But on the last main mission of Phantom Liberty something clearly went wrong and now the AI doesn't recognise me on any of my saves, in and out of the open world. It's like i'm invisible and they refuse to engage in combat and even for the most part move around. I looked online and I saw a few others have the same issue that Phantom Liberty has caused.

Game is unplayable for me right now.

Got it. Yeah that sucks. I'll probably wait a couple of patches before doing PL.

Started out with a Netrunner type build but that requires too much thinking. I just respecced and focused on reflexes/blade weapons and now it’s a lot more fun for me.

Being able to deflect bullets back at attackers and then leap in for the kill is really satisfying. The skill tree looks really interesting.
I did a netrunner build the last time I played so I kind of avoided it this time, and knowing after the patch it was going to be wildly different I started off pretty neutral to figure things out, and mainly just stuck to the bread and butter pistol for the most part.…then in the early game I looted, equipped and threw a knife on the fly and headshotted an enemy in a hectic firefight and I haven’t stopped since, it’s just so damn satisfying.

Now I’m all in reflex/cool and blade/throwing knives, with a ‘sandy‘ (Sandivistan) with extra headshot damage, and the double jump air dash + Kerenzikov. The poison perks from the ‘Cool’ tree for throwing knives really augment it.

Man I almost went for throwing knives. I too did Netrunner for my first run back at launch. I really enjoyed it, but this time around I sort of lost my appetite for turning every mission into some deep involved puzzle where I’ll probably have to reload a dozen times. I’m having more fun charging in and hacking the enemies to pieces before they even know what’s going on.

Every skill tree sounds so cool, it was hard to choose.

Awesome work man!

I was reading around about the 7800X3D and how the 3D v cache didn't really make a difference. That's some great work makes me want to try it out and if three raised three bounces performs that well then maybe turning it to dlss auto will get you that solid 60. It's just tough to justify for the subtlety of it. But you have to appreciate that we have harder we can tinker with stuff like this for so your efforts are more appreciated than you realize.

You got to love this kind of shop talk when it comes to our high-end hardware and I'm all for it so keep up the good work. I will try to get to something later maybe I'll test just the most taxing stuff like the three rays three bounces just to see how mine holds up for comparison sake. Same HW as you except DDR5 6000 CL30 and the 7800X3D.

What settings should I be looking to play this at 4k? Im not that well versed into oc settings, mostly looking for the best it can look while keeping it at 60 or higher.

Dogtown level design is crazy. Didnt think they would top Night City, but the nailed it.

Regarding crashes…Saw a lot of people saying that after they disabled hyperthreading in BIOS, they solved them.

My weapon set-up is two knives for the first two slots (the second is incase I can’t wait for the callback for the first), and a samurai sword in case I run of both and need to buy some time and get some ricochets in on the blocks…or just simply want to go ham.

It’s kinda funny though when you hear enemy NPCs say : “She has a gun!“ when I haven’t fired or held a gun since the shooting range quest near V’s apartment:

I had to change the missile launcher arm build that i was using because it was too broken (basically infinite missiles) just to discover that gorilla arms + berserk is even more broken :lollipop_squinting:

And when i thought i was at peak performance i then unlocked 3 iconic guns in rapid succession that are one more broken than the other...

The game REALLY need an ultra hard mode, they didn't balanced shit:lollipop_squinting:

Just tried all 5 new endings and man - one of them is almost too heartbreaking to go through. You'll know which one if you try them all out.

Have the base game but backlogged it. Do I need the dlc to experience all the new features? Or is it safe to jump in now? Does the intro story matter what I pick etc?

Tips

Anybody try out the vehicular combat perks? They seem like they’d be fun to screw around with but also kinda pointless in the grand scheme of things

Is your game crashing or is your rig rebooting? In my case my rig is rebooting and I believe has something to do with me running Path Tracing without DLSS.

Crashes to desktop. I'm playing the game without Path Tracing and with all RT settings enabled (lighting on Ultra).

Maybe when they'll figure it out in the future how to make Path Tracing look better with DLSS 4.0/4.5 and better RR implementation, it'll be worth it, but as of right now it has a lot of issues with RR and DLSS 3.5 and practically pointless and needless on anything but future RTX 5000-6000 series in terms of performance at 4K as well. I've tested Path Tracing on my 3080Ti, it looks godawful:

I've gone and had a good think about this and have to revise my score. He won't change much but have to go with around an 8.4 and that is because of other games that I've played that I actually thought higher of in terms of the score in the past but gave this a lower score when I find this to be a better game. The perfect example for me is Yakuza like a dragon, really enjoyed that. That one would be more like an eight and really enjoyable versus this one which honestly is a bit better overall.

And I just found out that starting the phantom Liberty expansion, it is definitely more resource intensive on the memory. Where I almost average one to one point five gigabytes more. Now I see where some of the numbers came from in those benchmarks even though I don't hit that 18 .3 like the benchmarks shown, I did actually hit 21 during photo mode.

Another thing, I first started expansion in that stadium or dome or whatever that's supposed to be. I was thinking that was the whole map and thinking well they could make something out of this if that's the whole location but then I realized that there's this whole massive part on the southwest of that that looks to be around half the size of the main game map. I may be wrong on that but this is definitely quite a large area. And it is definitely really good looking with all the fancy effects of our high-end computers.

Only thing I can think of is to uninstall the game and do a fresh install and try again.
I'm on my 3rd playthrough (1 at launch, 2nd after patch 1.5 and now a third one) and I've had maybe 1 crash through all this time.
I had a friend who had problems with crashing too, he used some factory OC 2080TI and when he underclocked it slightly, it fixed all his crashing issues.

Yeah it’s amazing and honestly makes the game so much better. I think I reset my points 4 or 5 times and only now I’m happy with my character.
Yup after BG3 I hated not being able to reset whenever I wanted. There are so many cool builds to create but without the possibility of respeccing there’s a risk of allocating incorrectly.
Now im free to just goof around.
Atm im basically flying around with the dash and double jumps lol, shits amazing.

you mean a game with less features then GTA? lol
