After playing SFAC, i would hav to disagree. I miss all the old backgrounds, musik, and whatnot.
Hyper Street Fighter II in SFAC lets you select the BGM style of your choice from the CPS1 SF2, CPS2 SF2, and the 3D0 version. In other words, all the music is there. You even get the old sound effects when you pick a WW, CE, or HF version of a character. The only thing "missing" are the backgrounds, but the CPS2 backgrounds are the same ones anyway, just redrawn.

Wait, the new PS2 game isn't going to be Chronicle? It's just a compliation of all the games? That sucks. Is that all the games in the entire series, or just the 3 Savior games?
It's all the games in the series:
-Vampire/Darkstalkers
-Vampire Hunter/Nightwarriors
-Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers 3
-Vampire Savior 2
-Vampire Hunter 2
Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 never saw home releases. Capcom added a few new moves and changed the Dark Force system a bit in Savior 2,
but removed three characters in their place (can't remember which ones but I know Gallon/Talbain is one of them), adding in Donovan, Huitzil/Phobos, and Pyron in their place. The Saturn version of Vampire Savior got all the characters from Savior 1 and 2, but played like Savior 1.
Vampire Hunter 2 was nothing more than Vampire Hunter with the Vampire Savior backgrounds and move lists for the characters. Useless release.

I completely prefer that. The backgrounds are back. It's not a pain to get the classic music if you want it (but don't want a classic-playing character).
You don't get the classic music based on which version of a character you pick in Chronicle. You get it based on which PLAY STYLE you pick (Vampire, Hunter, or Savior), so it's actually better, since you can use say, Savior 2 Morrigan and play on her stage with her Vampire BGM.
And the rest of the old content is intact. (It would be nice if Chronicle were also included, but that's asking a lot, considering this is Capcom.)
WHAT old content? EVERYTHING but the backgrounds from Vampire/Hunter is in Vampire Chronicle. It's actually worse playing the old games now, since none of the arcade versions ever had all the characters from every game playable like the console versions did.
Having the old backgrounds would have been nice, but it shouldn't be such a big deal when you get all the games' play styles/moves in one package instead. At the same time, it also shouldn't have been a big deal for Capcom to have included those backgrounds, of course.
Despite owning Vampire Hunter and Savior on Saturn, Vampire Savior EX on Playstation, Vampire Chronicle on Dreamcast and PSP, and having all the arcade versions emulated on PC/Xbox, I'll end up getting the PS2 collection anyway. I'm Capcom's bitch.
