Honestly that's probably it. The game is actually generally really forgiving about scoring your moves, especially on easy and medium. But if your arms and/or legs are constantly going off-camera it can start missing you.richiek said:I've been trying Dance Central for a few days now. I have to say that I found it frustrating that the game (or the Kinect) is very picky about detecting whether some of your dance moves are executed correctly. I try as best I can to mimic the onscreen dancer, but the game will sometimes not register it as correct. For some reason, it doesn't register movements to the right as well as to the left. For the Shrug move, when I pivoted left to right, I didn't score, but when I just stood still with my arms folded, it registered. :lol
It also doesn't help that I live in a small ass apartment and only have 6 ft of room to maneuver. I can see the Kinect not doing very well in Japan for this reason.
You can try messing around with the lighting, maybe you're better lit on one side of the room? Other than that, just try to calibrate again with the happy face card...richiek said:I've been trying Dance Central for a few days now. Thanks! I don't want to flood this thread with score pics, but she's still at it. Just got to number 1 on Move ya body!Psychotext said:Impressive.

No phreaking way. I like being on top of my leaderboards or at least being reasonably close :lolDangerStepp said:Offer up your game tag so you can get in on this.
Phreaker is lurking at the corner of every song I try to get good at.:lol

(Plus the stupid 100-friend limit is in reality what keeps me from adding anyone anymore.)

That move got me many a times too, which reminds me, restarting a song could be faster...lol
I know, I know, more Poker Face scores, sorry. I'm moving on to something else, probably Evacuate The Dance Floor. I've mainly been focusing on 4 starring all the songs on easy to complete the challenges.

Phreaker said:Whew, just did it. Got my Pure Perfection achievement too! My score for it now stands at 886,900 and I'm ranked 9th overall. (Don't think I've ever been 9 on any leaderboards, heh). One thing I found really interesting...I expected the first 8 people to have the same score, just got it before me, but no. The #1 person has a score of 887,431. Everyone above me has a different score. That must mean even if you do the move "flawlessly" there are still minor things that impact your score.
Edit: Oh, the #5 person did it with no flashcards too. (Didn't know that showed up in the leaderboards.)
you can't. You have to slow it down. If you fail it that many times, you should slow it down and do it multiple times. It shouldn't make it harder for you, it will help your muscle memory so you know what you're doing, then when you speed it up, it should be easier once you match tempo.Dreamwriter said:Question: In Break it Down, how do you have it repeat a move, without first slowing it down? I find it frustrating, when I almost have a move down, and fail too many times and it moves onto the next one without letting me finish practicing the first one, guaranteeing that I'll just keep getting that one wrong. But slowing it down is not what I want, that'll make it harder to match at full speed. Anybody know if this is possible?
It doesn't work that way for me - if I'm trying to memorize a fast move, doing it in super duper slow motion won't help at all, because my muscles work totally differently that way. Maybe if it were just a little bit slower, but it slows it down way too much. When I'm doing it fast, and the red shows I'm just doing one part wrong (like swinging my arm wrong), I just want to keep adjusting my motion until I get it right, but the game won't let you do that apparently.Chairhome said:you can't. I don't know then. That's how it works when you take a dance class, too. There's no alternative, so I guess you'll have to get used to it... :-/Dreamwriter said:It doesn't work that way for me - if I'm trying to memorize a fast move, doing it in super duper slow motion won't help at all, because my muscles work totally differently that way. And in some cases it only gives you two chances before moving onto the next move.

My mum forced me to set up a profile for her so she could play it today during the day :lol
I'm surprised at how tricky it actually is, even on the Easy run throughs. Still trying to 5 star everything before moving on to Medium.
