That's cool, *Splinter. I accept your vote.
By accusing you, I brought out two people whom I believed to be suspicious along with you, and they are none other than Hagi and Sawneeks.
Funny thing is, they both said they support voting on day one but will wait, so that the rest of us would have doubts about doing anything.
See, if I get lynched today, it would well mean that I was right about one or all of you being mafia, and the rest of us could vote for you very soon.
I am aligned with Hope, so I just need some of us to survive and wipe out all you mafia to win this game.
I don't think swamped is mafia.
We know almost for certain that there are more Hope than Despair players. What the ratio is I don't know. Powers are used at night (I believe that is the case for most games?) meaning neither Hope nor Despair has any info gained from their use. The Hope players are blind, but the Despair players know who each other are (I think that is the case).
This means on Day 1 the Despair players have roughly two options.
1. Sit back and let a Hope player lead the random bandwagon. Because of the distribution of players, the chance that Hope accidentally punish another Hope player is high. Meanwhile suspicions might be placed on whichever player(s) led the initial bandwagon. Best case scenario is Hope accidentally punishes two of their own on Day1 and Day2.
2. Start the initial bandwagon because that is for certain a Hope player you can eliminate. However this is risky for the reasons outlined in 1. The person leading the bandwagon arouses suspicion. Doubly so if it ends up being that the punished player ends up Hope aligned. The average case is that the bandwagon succeeds in getting rid of a Hope player, but then the player who led the bandwagon is suspicious and might be the one targeted on Day 2. Provided a bigger more obvious target doesn't come up. Worst case is that one Hope player is traded for one Despair player. This doesn't seem like much of an advantage.
It seems to be that the best move for Despair would be to NOT lead the bandwagon and sit back. Perhaps only intervening if a Despair player was coincidentally picked as the initial bandwagon.
Though Despair could use mind games and go with option 2, but with a twist. The Despair players lead a Day 1 bandwagon against another Despair player. That Despair player who led the bandwagon becomes defacto Hope leader and then steers people wrong at key moments to ultimately lead to a Despair victory. I've seen it before in mafia, but its super high risk and I'm not sure if the reward is honestly that high.
Thinking on it more, it honestly probably won't matter what AbsolutBro says. Hope aligned or Despair aligned, the only thing you'd say in either case is "trust me I'm Hope aligned". And there's no good way to gauge truthiness on the internet.
So with that said, I'll contribute to this bandwagon.
VOTE: AbsolutBro
These posts feel very empty to me. Like litterally just listing every possibility and then coming to the conclusion that none of that matters and a bandwagon is easier.
So far we have 5 players who haven't posted yet:
ANuclearError
A Human Becoming
Salvapot
AbsolutBro
goshujinsama
Let's see what they have to say before rushing the day:
VOTE: ANuclearError
also fun fact: both the first game and the AC game started with a No lynch/Eviction and ended with a town win. The SW game detained someone the first day and ended with a Hutt win. I don't mean anything with this, I just found this interesting.
king how's that train
RNH game one aside, when was the last time a quiet person EVER turned out to be mafia?
Only woke up bout an hour ago. Read through the thread, not seen anything worth committing to, we got three days, no point rushing just yet.
Launch, you're not really supposed to comment on the course of play.
Blarg? I thought you were a photoshop master?I agree, Crab. We need more information about each other.
I dug through the warehouse to find these cards. (Not really, but let's go along with it.)
Everyone, pick a number between 1 and 9.
Each number is assigned to a card. You answer yes or no to the question, simple.
If your number is, answer the left card.2, 8, or 9
If your number is, answer the middle card.3, 4, or 5
If your number is, answer the right card.1, 6, or 7
Of course you are free to lie or ignore these cards altogether. My answer to one of the cards is no.

Seriously, I'm trying to figure out where you're going with this...
That's the problem. We need communication, that's the best weapon to find Despair. If everyone remain silent and wait on the sides we gain nothing and contribute to a Despair win.
We need everyone in the game to express yours opinions and cast a vote.

Actually no, I need to clarify this better.
My conclusion was NOT that none if it matters and to just bandwagon. I didn't come to any conclusion too strongly (and duh, it is Day 1 and we have no information) but I did make two conclusions. See my above post.
My "it doesn't matter" was more about how not much can be done about a Day1 punishment. If AbsolutBro is Hope aligned then he can try to convince us, but with no information we can't really have any confidence whether or not he is lying. I believe that the Day1 punishment is essentially random and that it sucks, but I also don't think that Despair would be the ones to lead the Day1 punishment.
I essentially just got two votes launched at me for expressing my opinion that the most likely course of action for Despair is to NOT lead a Day 1 lynch. And that I felt it was more likely than not that swamped was Hope aligned.
Then I got told my post was just empty

Normally I ignore these games altogether (see the Blarg drama in SW mafia). But I have to ask. What the heck do the second and 3rd questions mean? Here where? Why is he on a card and not on another? Should I understand? Is this all a joke? At least the first card is straight forward but...
...This is why I ignore these games altogether...
While I agree with this sentiment in theory, in practice I've been looking forward to this and really want to contribute beyond the day 1 no information stage
Having slept on the situation, I've come to the same conclusion that Burrito described above.
I was considering voting for another non-poster to get more people involved, but it seems every except Absolut is safe now anyway, so let's see what he has to say for himself.
VOTE: AbsolutBro
Harsh, but I'll jump on this bandwagon as well. Let's see your defense, AB.
VOTE: AbsolutBro
}:|AB needs to be turboed before he posts. anti-town not to imo
From my little Mafia experience a first night lynching is generally the best option, and since we have no information to work with AbsolutBro is as good a choice as any. So yes, my vote totally was a "me too" thing, I mean I even said it in my original post.Votes that are close together timewise make me antsy, because it feels "me too!" ish. Splinter's vote has the precedence of the little back and forth of him and kgtrep behind it, which was definitely OMGUS-esque. But I've never really thought much on OMGUS, especially this early, and especially with players that (seem?) to be newer.
ViviOggi on the other hand had more of the "me too" vibe. Splinter has my eyes raised a little but at least his post came first and had more substance between it and his prior logic. So if I had to choose one for an early vote:
Vote: ViviOggi
Also, in another fit of dumbness, why exactly was AbsolutBro picked for the first bandwagon again?

Finally! You and Franconp were the only ones to ask this!
To the others who didn't ask this question and yet followed my bandwagon - why did you think I started the vote for him and not another student?
Finally! You and Franconp were the only ones to ask this! As you might of guessed, it's totally random (RNG), although I think I like this choice because I feel like AB is the sort of player who would be able to defend himself.

I'm almost certain I've explained my thought processes.

Please see my post above. I may have fallen into a newbie trap here, and was thinking about retracting my vote immediately once questioned since I have no stake in this either way, but that would look even more suspicious wouldn't it. So until AB responds, we get new information or actually get close to ending the day early I might as well stick with it.I thought that was why but always it's better to ask.
I was going to say the same that Barrylocke said about ViviOggi. I found that post very suspicious. I don't like the idea of people jumping on the bandwagon, they don't add to the game.
