Dark Souls II - Graphics Comparison - PC Preview

When can we expect to get Durante's article? Hours? Days? Weeks?

I'm dying for more info
I just finished the first draft, but can't really tell you how long it will take to edit, revise and format and when it will be published.

Would LOVE to see some 4K shots. Hook us up, Based Durante!
I wish I could. I have a gallery here which is just waiting to go into the screenshot thread.

So I read like 10-15 assorted pages of this thread and can't for the life of me figure out why some people are finding this port downright offensive. I feel like I'm missing something here since I for one am incredibly hyped.

It mostly falls down to expectations. Some folks expected this look exactly like the reveal footage. Others simply wanted a good port, which seems to be what we got.

I've been watching the previews and they all mention 60fps, but have they said whether it's capped at 60 or if it's possible to go 120fps/higher with a better display?

Ooooh, this article from Durante sounds good. Can't wait to see a full comparison. Don't really need justification for my decision to wait for the PC version to be fair but will be nice to know how the port holds up.

Man, I know that the PC release is technically next week, but it still feels so far away. Wish it was a global Tuesday release....

Bamco need to control it before it's released?

Dark Souls is 20% off on GMG with discount code: O3H7FE-D4NFO0-F0LIGK

That brings the price to $40USD for those interested.

For those who don't know, GMG also has a Playfire service, where you can link your Steam account and they'll add cash credit to your GMG account for completing challenges.

Challenges are stuff like playing a game for the first time and getting particular achievements.

I've been doing Playfire for the past ~2 weeks and it's how I'm getting Dark Souls II for this price

Almost all the credit is from me just occasionally getting achievements in games the past 2 weeks.

Right now I think they've got offers for a bunch of worms games, Super Meat Boy, and Fez and you can get the credit mad easy.

I probably sound like I'm shilling hard for GMG but it's legit just a superb deal all around and more people need to know about the whole Playfire thing. It's kind of ridiculous how much credit they give out.

Also, if you don't want to actually invest the time in the game, as long as you at least own it, some people have totally used Steam Achievement Manager to just unlock the achievements and get their credit that way.

It's pretty nice, I got around 9 bucks for getting all the achievements in Goat Simulator(which I only paid 5 dollars for because of credit from other games)

Ended up getting Dark Souls II for around 30 dollars which is nice. Need more screenshots!

oO how does that work?

Well, they took my $40, and now I've got a "no keys available until the game is released" message.

I'm a little sketched out, honestly. Is this going to count as a pre-purchase release? So I can still get the black armor edition gear?

GMG is legit. You'll get pre-order stuff yeah. Normally it's either built into the key they give, or they have an additional key they give you with the pre-order stuff.

Damnit, they should hurry up and edit Durante's article. The game is only 10 days away. They need to beat other impression videos to the punch.
Durante's work is going to be much better than any impressions video you'll find elsewhere, I'd say. Look for both my 4K screenshot gallery (I've posted 3 images out of ~40 so far, I think) and the first analysis from Durante this week.

Hot dang. Exciting to hear. Thanks for all the good work.

Looks a bit spoilerly. First few seconds of the video I had already seen areas and enemies I haven't seen before.
It is spoilery. Several mid game locations and one of the 'important' bosses.

Also, they improved the flame sprite on your torch with the PC version. That's about the only texture-related enhancement to be seen in that video. Bit weird the torch still remained lit when he fell into the water a few times; maybe it's in that specific area, but usually the torch fizzled out for me when you take a dip. I need to check if it's like that on consoles too for those spots.

Im not a graphics whore. I just wanna play this jame, so good, give me now sweet dark souls 2 tasty juice, invade some modafukas and take their virginity and laugh a lot. That's gonna be sweet, but people have to complain because they are bitch, you know what happens to bitch? Bitch get slapped. No reason to be bitch, life is short, dark souls 2 is shorter, enjoy it while it last. Peace out.

Lol, I read this like it was Mr Chow from the Hangover movies saying this and it made it even more funnier.

Unless you are coming into the PC version cold, and are just talking about enemies and areas that were not shown in other previews...all of this was on the console version.

Wow, even in a compressed video like this the PC version already looks a LOT cleaner than the console version. I never noticed what the heads of the guys in the starting area looked like until that video.

Yeah I thought the same thing. It looks way better than the scraps that were thrown to me on the PS3 version.

The majority of people buying the game on PC are going to be coming into the game cold.

Of course these areas and enemies were in the console version, does that make it any less of a spoiler?

Can someone with access to the PC game give us high def screenshots of the
four engravings in the inside of Shrine of Winter?

Those things seem to be really important for the lore, but they are so blurry in the console version that you can't see shit.

Please understand.
