I got real tired of late-game shit so I signed offline and cheated my ass off. Even with infinite health, there are situations where you can find yourself stuck in a gank squad, unable to do anything for literal minutes, until the stars align and an opening presents itself. Watching some of these infinite stamina, flawless tracking combos play out sure is something. I still think DS3 is a better game than DS2, but not by much.

Fun note - those stupid ass jailers can still kill you even with infinite health enabled. From somehow made a worse enemy than the singing brains in Bloodborne.

Does the drain actually kill you? I've always been curious about that as I always run away when my health starts getting into the single pixel territory.

You think healing those Dark Sigils are expensive now, just wait til end game where you will probably be paying anywhere near 300k-400k just to be free!

Without spoiling anything, do I need to worry about the Dark Sigil giving me a bad ending or can I still get a good ending with it?

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
The drain doesn't kill you. It stops at like 50hp.

Do you actually get any satisfaction from this game if you cheat?

I need help finding an area that I can't find now. Basically, it was a dark room around the
Irithyll of the Boreal Valley Area
you go down a ladder and it leads to a large room that has a few items in it and a half dozen of those
teeth spider creatures that screech
I wasn't ready for them before so I just pressed forward to a new area but now I can't find it. Can someone help me out?

Edit: Found it. Turns out I misremembered what enemy was in that area.

You can't really answer that without spoilers.
From what I understand, I think it opens up the "best" ending.

Is anyone else going through this game not seeing ANY NPCs in the world? I don't remember the last time I saw someone outside the Nexus save for covenant people. I still haven't even found
Patches
and I'm fighting he fourth Lord of cinder.

i think that's pretty normal. most people will see npcs 1-2x in the wild, reach the last boss and finish the game. i only met
patches
in firelink after i beat the last boss. he was apologizing....for what? lol. i never met him. it's totally lame. it's one of the biggest weak points of soulsbourne games.

Soul of Cinder
is wrecking my shit.

I have the best time with him when RNG is nice and he doesn't spawn spear form. If he's in spear form I usually drain like 7 estus back to back. The key to the second half of the fight is to keep your distance, because his combo is a day ender at anything less than about 55% of health unless you have like 50 points in vigor.

Honestly makes me want to do a spear run next character lol >.> How's scaling for the spears, anyway? Quality build seems the best bet for them as none of the one's I've found have very good scaling one way or the other, or have heavy STR reqs despite scaling with dex T_T

I've put about 15 hours into this game so far, and damn it's good stuff. Not sure where it will fall on my overall Souls list.

I have been staying away from this thread because I don't want to get spoilt and everyone else seems to have clocked the game several times already!

UNREAL

Almost at the end of the game, and just now realized what the undead bone shards do. I was sitting on 8, didn't bother to read the item description.

I always wondered why my estus recovery was so weak, and why the late game was so hard. I was straight up using the default estus recovery strength the whole time.

I feel really, really dumb.

Omg.

I feel like a congratulations is in order. I'm guessing this is your first Souls game as well if you didn't know that. Which makes this even more impressive...

What's a good thing(s) to spend souls on if I don't want to out level content and I have a lot of extra souls? (70k from co oping and pvp)

Around level 40

Yeah, I was 4 or 5 boss encounters into the game before I figured that out. It's my first actual souls game (if you don't count bloodborne) and I didn't want to waste the undead bone shard by just burning them. Then I read the description and felt dumb as fuck.

Buffing items, arrows, try out new armours? That's usually what I spend my extra souls on, most of the time.

Fam.... I don't even know how you did it. That must've been hell.

I'm just doing a Long Sword playthrough. Haven't done this since my first run of Demon's Souls. I can't accept the drawbacks of specialised weapons atm.

Has anyone played around with both
Dragon transformations
? Kind of like Bloodborne, although I haven't seen very many people using it yet in pvp/co op. I'm gonna play around with them later.

Clear

CliffyB's Cock Holster
Making my way through
Lothric Castle
and it seems like the hardest Souls area ever.

Its really not. Especially if you level up a lot.

DS3 is unfortunately very much a power game, once you get beyond a certain threshold the challenge evaporates. I suspect a lot of people will be shocked by how easy NG+ is.

Finished the game. Last boss was challenging and fun. Way easier than NK tho. Anyway, got NG+ and beyond to go through. I can finally check a guide and stop hiding from spoilers. Yay

Need to check up on what I collected so far.

This.

NG+ is just sad. Especially after Scholar and DS2 vanilla did such an amazing job with it, essentially turning it into a game mechanic more than just added layers of play.

NG+ is by far my biggest disappointment with the game, and it is likely to end up the sole reason I keep DS2:S as my favorite and most played game of the series over DS3.

You have to unequip all your armor to use and afaik they don't give any protection themselves, so I don't think people would seriously use for anything.

Is that any different to any other Souls game?

This area is demanding on your stamina and reflexes.
This area has very strong enemies around every corner, aggressive long-reaching duos that attack you in pairs using synced attacks, enemies that hurl estus prevention at you and annoying cross-bowers that can trip you up if you aren't paying attention to them. I don't know what's harder.

I absolutely agree with this. Was getting my arse kicked in for a few of the early areas. Came back with stronger weapons, and did so much better DESPITE my skill level not having changed much.

In huge contrast to Dark Souls and BB where I got past an area because of player improvement, not player character improvement.

Somewhat disappointed. :\

Guess I'm gonna walk around with a greatsword and stun-lock everything.

I've run into a sort of brick wall of my own making.

The little tunnel with the
monstrous rat
and the
Grave Key pathway
has an entrance that's near a
bridge with a couple of those big pot-throwing machete dudes
. The problem is, one of them
threw a pot at me and knocked me off the bridge.

I returned to the area but can't find my souls. Is there a way to go to the
level beneath the bridge?
I'm too scared to jump off because it looks kind of high.

I can't continue without my ~5,000 dropped soulsssssss :p

EDITL ugh i've been looking for like an hour already, where the hell are you souls, HALP

I've had this experience in pretty much every Souls game. If anything, this game is better at this than Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls, being more linear. I haven't felt over-levelled once yet.

When's the best time to stop leveling vit?

To the point you can fashion souls your armor of choice with havel's ring. Worth noting that since poise has been nerfed to the point of nigh uselessness that heavy armor is pointless this time around.

Vit seems to have no cap at all. I'm sitting at like 4.5 million souls at the moment because I stopped leveling at 120 and just have yet to die in NG+ to loose them, so I've been playing around with the caps a bit to see what works just for fun.

Endurance is the worst investment once you hit 40 by far. You get like 3 points of stamina in between level 40 and 80, lol

Not so sure about how much DS3 is 'easier' than the previous games based on levels. For example, I'm in the 90's and the knights in
Lothric Castle
can still 2-shot me to death.

The axe wielding hollows in the beginning of the game still can take quite a chunk of your life. However, once you get used to back stabs and all that, they are easy no matter what level you are.

Really thought I fucked up today. I kept checking the well outside the
cleansing chapel
for
Siegward
, and nothing. Checked after each shortcut, and after beating the
Deacons
. Nothing. Fast traveled a few times and he suddenly appeared! Gave him his
armor
and moved on. Woohoo!!

Deacons were easy as fuck. If you just chip away at them from the outside if the group they go down easy. I was barely hit.

For those who feel at a loss with Ultra Great Swords, just watch Oroboro for a while and you can see someone ripping through ganks with a FUS, among other heavy weapons.

That weapon in particular has some seriously OP visceral attacks. The same with that Great Sword that looks like a spear.

----

Also: has anyone noticed that there is a certain kind of attack with all weapons that will connect but do no or little damage? I'm not sure if this was something that was in Dark Souls 2 or not. But if you hit certain enemies at a certain distance or during a roll, it will connect (hit sound, etc.) but do no damage. I've noticed it happening to others and to myself. I'm guessing this is some kind of range thing.
