Dark Souls internal rendering resolution fix (DSfix)

Thx for the new Version Durante. love the SSAO improvement stuff!

I happen to have found a bug though with the rendering of dynamic shadows. This place in Anor Londo moves and hence has the dynamic shadows. In 1.1 they render at all distances. In 1.2 they render in a smaller square distance around the character and hence are messed up.
I know what broke this (probably). I'll fix it tomorrow. Sorry about that, I suggest reverting to 1.1 if you're in that area.

Thanks for the detailed description.

If I enable SSAO through DSfix should I be putting a compatibility mode into inspector? I tried it and my FPS were really low and I am on SLI GTX 580s. With SSAO off and SMAA maxed + 3840x2400 I am getting a solid 30 at all times otherwise.

This is from two pages back but I didn't get a response. Anyone have any idea?

SSAO doesn't seem to work for me in 1.2. I have SSAO set to 2 and the '#' removed for the toggle. I haven't been able to figure out why SSAO won't turn on....

not sure where to get the playstation button prompts though..i think my unpacker corrupts some textures.

glad the transparency works! and thanks for the file Backfoggen

Just had to do it lmao.

If anyone wants it.

- Texture override functionality! Any texture in the game can now be customized, e.g. for changing the button prompts or adding higher resolution fonts.
- In conjunction with the above: texture dumping. This will provide you with the base textures for the game and their hash code, so that you can override them. This is only for people who want to create their own override textures.
Oh my, it keeps getting better and better.

So how long until someone creates a tool that will let you put in whatever text you want and it'll pop out the proper graphics to go with it?

Until then, can anyone at least give us the proper typeface and font required to match the originals?

Edit: BTW, I haven't played Dark Souls since the release of Guild Wars 2 and I couldn't be happier. I'll be coming back to SL 25 with so many features thanks to Durante! Keep up the amazing work.

Bleh now the urge to buy this game increased tenfold with this update. I see my friend playing all the time and he's hooked soo tempted now. Also someone needs to mod the title screen so it says "Durante Editon" instead of "Prepare to Die Edition" lol.

Texture modding = baller.

Nude mods can fuck off, I will be making some sweet custom textures for my gear like I did in Oblivion/Fallout/Skyrim/PSO.

Thanks again Durante.

Is it just me or the blur pops up really close? I'm in Darkroot Garden at the moment and it feels like everything a few meters ahead is a haze.

You could map L3 to some keyboard key (even a fictional one like F18) using an external tool (eg. GlovePIE) and then map that to the HUD toggle.

Never used GlovePIE, but is there a way to make that or any other program automatically enable and disable the emulated key whenever I start the game?

I would like to not have to manually shut off the program so the L3 hotkey doesn't affect another game I'd load up after Dark Souls.

Ok, so I just built my new rig, and had to reinstall. What would be causing the "Executable has stopped working" error again?

and how can I correct it?

I apologize if this has been brought up before, but SSAO is not playing nice with my verison 1.1. At the Firelink Shrine, the SSAO drop shadows show up weirdly in very distant areas, half showing up and half blurred out by the DoF. It's most telling on the leaves of the large tree, where SSAO shadow blotches are splattered all over the tree leaf area.

Anyone know what's the deal with that?
