If you like the moveset and you feel it's doing enough damage, enjoy. The efficiency of weapons is mostly about what you're comfortable with.

Probably wouldn't hurt to check out some DEX weapons though.

I haven't been there yet, I'm SL30. What about farming near the bonfire where the entrance to Darkroot Basin is?

I've got mine there, but I wasn't even trying. Just had a couple of humanites and it dropped. I'm using it now, but I don't know if I like it better than my Uchigatana...

Made a Bed of Chaos guide to help people out.
Nice, very helpful.

Two things: as was recently pointed out to me here, you don't have to homebone you can quit to menu and it put you at the fog gate when you reload. And secondly you don't have to jump, you can just drop down onto the central branch.

any deals going on with pc version?

would i be able to run it with 5770 and Phenom II 955 black @ 3.2 at 1080p and at least 30fps?

I have a similar cpu, Phenom II 945@3GHz with 6850 graphics card.

At 1080p most of the time it's 30fps, it will drop to 15 fps if there's too much particle effects (torchlights in upper blightown, ice golem crystal attack, hydra boss fight, bonfire effect) but yeah, other than that it's smooth 30 fps.

Seems like it's pretty rare, Sounds awesome though...

BSS is good and has a nice move set - the thrust on R2 is great for narrow passages. However I think the iaito is superior in both reach and damage, has a great R2 with a wide arc and causes bleed. I have also had a lot of fun with the painted gaurdian sword and the gold tracer (which is my new favourite). The fury sword is a bit op'd throughout most of the game but you need to get through anor londo for that (same with the gold tracer for that matter).

I picked up 2 BSS in the parish with 8 humanity and picked up enough titanite along the way to make it very useful for the first part of the game. Iaito is easy to get though and well worth it if you are a Dex build.

Both true, I personally just died to get back and you can fall or jump.

Here's the guide:

Most disappointing boss ever. I remember first seeing it and nearly shatting myself thinking, "HOW DA FREAKING HECK-?" I thought it was going to be one of those, big, memorable bosses that you remember forever. Well it was, just not the kind I was used to.

*Reminisces about Lost Planet*

Then I found out that the whole thing was designed to be cheesed. So disappointing. The whole world design down here was a big let down.

...And it's not even optional. How sweet is the
Painted World,
and it's totally unnecessary for main game completion. And that boss fight there is really cool too.

Anyways.

I just got
Firesage Demon and Centipede Demon
recorded, and I'll try to get those parts up tonight. Then I'm off to face this boss.

I like the idea behind an environmental-based boss, but From just doesn't seem to be able to pull it off that well. At-least the
Dragon God
wasn't horrible in Demons Souls.

Although my last three times at BoC - I was able to deal with him no problem and not die once by getting swiped into a pit. Think my first time against him on the PS3, he made me rage so hard mostly because I was fedup with Lost Izalith when you had to clear more of those dino-asses.

What's a good dex weapon available for me? How do I even see that it's a "dex" weapon?

If you look at the scaling, and it has high scaling with dex.

Scaling ranks start as high as S rank, then A, B, C, D, and E. The higher the letter, S/A being the highest, under dex, the better it scales with the dex stat.

I hope I wrote that clear enough.

Examples are: katanas, thrusting swords, even bows.

Bed of Chaos is the only boss I actively disliked. I seriously suck at that fight, and it lacks the epic factor of the other bosses of the game. Every other boss in this game* was extremely memorable, and this one was so disappointing.

I seriously hope From does a better one in the next game. From what I've seen on youtube, the Dragon God isn't a particularly fun fight either, but it does have the woomph factor of the other bosses.

Also, both the Balder Sword and the katanas are very good dex weapons.

Weapons have a scaling portion in the menu screen. It looks like Str/dex/int/faith and will give a letter grade associated based on how it scales. S is the highest, then A, B and on down.

Really good dex weapons would be uchi, iato, great scythe, balder swag sword, and more

No, they're a natural part of most weapons already. The weapons that get really interesting are the ones that have more than one paramater that scales damage, which is why the Balder Side Sword is such a versatile weapon, as it scales slightly with Strength and it scales quite well with Dexterity.

O&S was way to easy in co-op with the Zhewehainder + 9, cool boss never the less.

Now I have the vessel but I have no idea where im supposed to take it hehe.

Question: I have tons of souls and dont want to level up, is the Ninja outfit found in Blightown worth to upgrade? I love it because its so light but at the same time I see so many other cool armors.

That should be fine for that stage. Enemies tend to ramp up starting with Anor Lando, and at that point you get access to a Blacksmith that can modify your weapon to lightning or create boss weapons, giving you high base damage at lower levels (you can find a lightning spear in Sen's that can be helpful to some people).

If you want more power now you can head down to the Catacombs and find Vamos the blacksmith. He can create Chaos and Fire weapons, but you need the Chaos Ember from Demon Ruins first for Chaos, and red titanite chunks for both (plus a red slab to get Chaos to +5). He can do Fire weapons immediately up to +5. The Chaos Ember is a short trek from Queelag's. I tend to create a Chaos weapon early on in my playthroughs, but you should get used to walking around with 10 Humanity if you're going that route as it scales with it.

As you scale your stats up, scaling weapons will start to become stronger and you can then use Andre to craft some +15 weapons. But for the early parts it isn't necessary since elemental weapons will do more damage until you get other stats up.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into trying to get my hands on that lightning spear.

It looks like you are aiming for a strength build but you are probabaly too focused on END for this stage of the game. I think you might have a bit of difficulty getting into a good weapon build without adding some more levels to strength and ignoring VIT and END. Also, Raw is not a good upgrade path. The grass shield is nice, but you can get the cloranthy ring pretty easily (in the great hallow) and then you can use a shield that has 100% physical and good stability (hallow shield or baldur shield if you can't get a shield off a black knight). Maybe switch to a club or axe, or get the sword out of the graveyard then tackle Sen's. Once in there you can grab the lighning spear and see how that feels.

With your focus on END, are you going for an agile build? Maybe focus on DEX then and grab the katana from blighttown or farm a baldur side sword. The lizards can take some punishment, but they aren't armored so slashing does good damage.

Thanks!

Honestly, I'm not sure what I'm focusing on. I started out as a Cleric with the Master Key. I was initially using the mace you find in the first area and had upgraded it to +5. I then switched to the Astora's Straight Sword when I found that. It seemed pretty good, and I like the speed and move set of it quite a bit, but the damage is kind of lacking now.

I like to be able to do the fast roll, but I'm willing to give it up and adjust my play style if necessary. The reason I put so much into Endurance was because I read so much about Endurance being a good default stat to pump points into. There were a lot of times when I'd have a bunch of souls saved up and wouldn't have any particular focus (no weapon to work toward).

I'll look into getting that Cloranthy Ring. I know I need a better shield, but it's hard to give up that stamina regen on the Grass Crest Shield. A couple of questions:

- What drops the katana in Blighttown?
- What do you mean by the "sword out of the graveyard?"

Thanks again!

Nothing drops the iaito, it is on a corpse in blighttown just by the first fire - it requires a run and jump. The sword in the graveyard is a super heavy two hander and may not be conducive to a faster play style. I personallyy went dex with the shadow outfit, cloranthy riing and the ring that lets you do flips (if under 25% equip load) and put no points into VIT. I hit the soft cap on dex and end (40) and put just enough points into str to weild my weapons. I farmed the silver knights in anor lando for the best medium shield in the game.

Boosting end up to 40 isn't bad but it will make higher levels more costly and your damage will suffer unless you use elemental or magic weapons (which won't scale). I think the astora is a blessed sword and doesnt scale well but will come in handy in the catacombs. I think you might want to focus on dex or str (but not both) until you get one of them to 40 then focus on end. Vit can be ignored unless you are into pvp - good evasion will get you further than high health in most encounters.

Yeah, I definitely prefer the more mobile playstyle of being light on my fight.

The iaito sounds neat, so I think I'll take a trip back down to Blighttown tonight to grab that, and also make a stop at The Great Hollow to get the Cloranthy Ring.

My suggestion for those having difficulties with four kings

For defense : Equip Havel's Armor and use the Great Magic Barrier miracle, once you do that the kings do a laughable amount of damage even with their strongest attacks like the magic blast and the grab. Once you are out of miracles you can still keep going through because Havel's armor is just damn good.

It doesn't matter if there's more than one king, only one will engage you at a time.

For offense : Use a heavy weapon with fire damage or enhance your weapon with Fire resin, lightning does good damage too. Once you kill a king KEEP HITTING the white mist, the overall health bar does takes damage even when they are in their dying animation.

Honestly, 4 kings aren't that difficult. My suggestion would be to get down to 25% equip rate, and equip the Grass Crest Shield for stamina regen.

Have the Crest Shield or Dark Hand on backup for blocking their magic missile attack (I recommend the latter).

They telegraph all of their attacks, just dodge to the side as they are swinging and the grab attack. Dodge backwards twice for the AOE attack, or just roll behind him and block with Dark Hand/Crest Shield will do minimal damage and you can resume attacking more quickly.
Using a weapon buff like CMW, DMB, or Charcoal Resin will help, and make sure to hit them 2H.

I just beat them on NG+ with a MSGS, Power Within, and Charcoal Resin. First time Dark Souls player.

All of their attacks are readily telegraphed and really easy to dodge.

Imo you don't need mobility for this battle at all considering they come and stand next to you. Which is why the Iron Flesh strategy works well too.

Two keys to the 4 Kings fight:

1) It's a DPS race, so be ultra-aggressive. Just go right up to them and stomp them with your highest-damage weapon.

2) Use the Dark Hand for defense (you can get one as a drop from a Darkwraith). It has very low stability so you need to be careful with it against physical attacks, but against their magic, it almost cancels it out. It takes out only minimal health and stamina.

This is what I always do , full on havels armor and 2 hand weapon. They barely scratch you. No rolls, no magic, no blocking, just walk up to their face and rip it right off.

This is good advice. The crest shield gives 80% magic protection as well.

Wow, the conditions to access the DLC area were completely random. I had to google all the steps. :/

Yeah, no kidding. I haven't accessed it yet, but I heard it was tough and not easy to just stumble upon, so I had to see it for myself.

Anyways, I got part 30 up, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrU1HnjFb5Y&list=PLFBBDE8FD663440DB&index=30&feature=plpp_video

It's where I face off with the
Firesage Demon.
And I have the very next boss ready,
Centipede Demon
but I wont be able to get it uploaded now, it'll have to wait for overnight.

What's a good dex weapon available for me? How do I even see that it's a "dex" weapon?

All the advice is great except for people are mising out on recommending the washing pole....it is easy to miss in your playtrrhough if you don[t know what to do, but if you do everything right it is a guaranteed sale form shiva in blighttown. It is one of the only weapons in the game (that is good anyway) that you can only get through vendor purchase. It is only slightly less in damage than the iato or Uchi, but the reach is WAAAY longer and it flies around just as fast. Any small difference in damage is made up for in reach and move set...the R2 is killer, but the most ridiculous benefit is the running r1 which is quite frankly OP as the reach is likely as good if not better than any of the spears and becuase you run into into it you can cover a lot of ground with it fast...a lot. Whenever helping on O&S I just run in with it..take my 400 damge off the O or S and immediately roll back...rinse and repeat adn no matter how extreme tehy get in trying to retaliate I am only in for a fractio of the time most people take flailing and blocking.

Easily the best PVP weapon in the game if you know how to use it and especially if your opponent is not wary of its charm.

Only negative is the strength requirement of 20 means I usually two hand it, where obviously the uchi or Iato enable easier use of a shield....the endurance cost must be a bit higher as well....but the reach and movesets beat that stuff out for me as the starting endurance cost wasn't even needed on Hellkite...one swing up to the face and one swing down on the neck, and hellkite turned into white fizzies with darkmoon buff and 30 faith.

Some may say that since htere is no bleed it is also outclassed by iato...but this has never bothered me as achieving bleed damage is not something I find easy to do with my playstyle..plus bleed can be easily neutered by armour or even rings or buffs in PVP regardless. Everyplaythrough I try to get into Iato or Uchi and basically feels like I am taking a pencil to a swordfight....the reach is addicitve and once you have it you won't go back.....interestingly the first MOds on teh nexus were for getting coloured washing poles...I guess I am not the only washing pole worshiper out there?!?!?? I don't know whay they amke them black and red...i want a purple one!

Good recommendation. Love the Washing Pole myself. And really the best overall dex weapons are the katanas, BSS and Furysword depending on the situation. Couple spear weapons and obviously bows too.

Oh my fuck it worked. I've been trying at SL40 solo to beat them (melee character w/o magic), and this worked like a charm. Thank you.

Now I'm a Darkwraith and am having a ball invading and getting indicted.
