The load up on AA in the control panel thing? I tried that and it didn't do anything, I don't think the AA is even applying. I've got a e5200@3Ghz and a 5850 and the game runs pretty badly. ;(
Anyways, found the DLC area, the
stone giants in the woods near the beginning are kicking my ass, they take so little damage and do so much. ;_;
Just beat those fucking gargoyles, soul arrowing like a madman. I'm thinking of maybe doing a Dex mage like I did in Demon's, but having limited spells makes me doubt how viable that'll be. No way to increase my spells cap?

Just wondering about pros and cons re: Sunlight Blade vs Darkmoon Blade. (spoilers?)
Unless you rank up Darkmoon covenant they seem the same buffwise at 1.8x scaling.
DMB you need to be in darkmoon to use but SLB you can use no matter what covenant you're in - but means you lose access to a covenant until next game cycle. If I'd rather help than invade then wouldn't SLB be the better choice?
Is there anywhere at all that I could get summoned as SL80? I kind of went overboard because I really really wanted to try out sunlight blade, and I still need 3 sunbro medals.

DMB is the best weapon buff in the game, but only if
you max out your Blade of the Darkmoon membership and never leave it.
It's basically purely for PvP, so if you're primarily interested in co-op just stick to SLB.
There's also an interesting thing to note about the two:
you can get multiple castings of Sunlight Blade by playing through NG+. Every time you kill Gwyndolin you can nab another casting. Darkmoon Blade, on the other hand, can never have more than a single casting since it's a Covenant Miracle. No matter how many times you play through the game Gwyndolin will never give you another Darkmoon Blade, no matter how many Souvenirs of Reprisal you give him.

in the console versions. There tend to be people of all levels looking for help with those. In the PS3 version I've gotten summoned to co-op them as high as SL 160 or so. That sort of thing probably ain't going to happen on the PC version until more people are working through NG+, but at 80 you'll likely still see some action.
In the new content
Manus
and
Kalameet
are both pretty popular summoning spots. I'm SL 75 at the moment and it doesn't take long to get somebody to pick me up to help with either of them.
Beat the crap out of him because he was terrible and then messaged him a warning that his stats were in plain view for everyone in-game who has the book of the guilty item. Here is his reply:
You can kill him (and virtually every NPC) at any point, but there's apparently a sidequest related to him killing the Fire Keeper that will end up resurrecting her by the end.
Ha, I just had the most awesome moment in this game: venturing through the sewers, cursed, trying to retrieve my 10.000 souls, which were deep down in the level. Every little noise startled me  Curse those chameleons (actually, they are pretty easy once you remember their patterns).
I'd say anywhere from SL 1-50 should get you a decent number of takers, with somewhere in the middle of that range probably being the sweet spot. I don't think there are too many people on NG+ in the PC version at the moment, so being above that range is probably going to cut you off from getting some action in a reasonable time frame.
After going on and on about this game, which my friend continually scoffed at, he finally took the plunge due to it being on his platform of choice and what does he do? Turn it into "Dark Souls: Prepare To Guide Edition". Dude's looking shit up left and right, not even giving himself a chance to learn things on his own. Sigh.
I just invaded this guy, who's the "8th ranked" darkwraith invader because he has hacked stats:

I don't want them fucking up online games (though it's honestly not that big of deal to me personally as I roll Hollow 90% of the time). However, it is kind of cool that people who otherwise wouldn't play the game at all get to see what it is about via these "hacks." I do think this is the worst way to go about it though and they are really robbing themselves out of what makes the game great. And they definitely should stay the hell off line if they want to do it.
The ideal would be a "beginner's" mode that that doesn't feature the real ending and lets you new-game plus into the regular mode. I love Dark Souls and I wouldn't change the difficult for anything but I don't think it would hurt anything to have an easy mode for beginners.
Ah cool - yeah I been a bit more picky and hit my 30 faith requirement at sl45 as I was planning to do the new content at sl50. You might have some luck in Demon's Ruins at that level and it's a pretty quick run from that bonfire to the boss.

Where are you putting your sign? Generally for that boss people look for summoning signs around the bonfire
in the giant drainage pipe, where Maneater Mildred invades you.
In general the best place to set your sign down is at the nearest bonfire to the boss you're looking to help with. Usually people turn human and immediately start tagging summoning signs so that if they get invaded they don't have to fight alone. Setting your sign down in front of a boss door sometimes works, but usually only if somebody gets there having lost a phantom on the way or was unable to find anybody at the bonfire.
If you're already putting the sign down at the bonfire then I don't know what the problem is. Nobody decides whether or not to summon somebody based on their armor, I don't think. Or even based on equipment in general. Unless you're doing something crazy like throwing down your summon sign in a late-game area naked and carrying a Drake Sword* you won't be missing out on any jolly co-operation based on your equipment.
*In fairness, one of the best Dark Souls players I've ever seen did exactly this. I started stripping all my equipment off in solidarity when we'd both be summoned to the same game. The hosts of those games probably thought they were surrounded by crazy people.
THIS ladder, for some reason, makes the game studder like no other, with or without the patch. I am unsure as to why, but the solution to ease the time of studdering is to turn the camera away. Works well enough, and good shortcut to grind those guys for chunks.

I was putting my sign down just before the fog. I got summoned and we kicked her ass! That was amazing! I want to do that more! So the bonfire is a better place just in case they get invaded I guess?

If you're willing to go to NG+, you can have both. Get SLB on NG, then DMB on NG+. And you can also pick up another SLB before going to NG++ and so on.

Yeah, as soon as you turn human you can summon allies but can also be invaded. Since being invaded can be kind of stressful people are usually reticent to travel from the bonfire where they reverse hollowing to the boss door alone. So they grab their allies at the bonfire as soon as they turn human so they have an escort on their way to the boss.
I just finished Blighttown, but I'm still using the Drake Sword and it's starting to feel a little... underpowered. Which weapon should I be looking to pick up around level 45?

My god. I've been hollowed as I take on bosses. I've been playing this game all wrong. Ornstein and Smough would have been so much easier in hindsight if I knew everyone was putting their stuff down around bonfires. I wouldn't look!

What melee dex weapon (and property) should I be aiming for? I started Pyro, and I heard dex makes cast time faster (up to 45 dex). Right now I really like spear and sword paired with a shield.
I'm a big fan of the great scythe. Great range and aoe for pve, and good range and dead angles for pvp. (Dead angles are when you hit them behind their shield.) Other great choices are the katana weapons.
Is there any negative to grinding soul levels in this game? I know that after a certain level you can't summon/be summoned but I don't really care about that. I just like grinding in RPGs in order to give me an advantage.
So god damn awesome. The atmosphere/emotion/storytelling is brilliant without even using words. I love that they put that much detail/fanservice in the game.
Looking forward to more of the EpicNameBro lore series, definitely check out his videos if you haven't.

Well I have one for you....I think my character and whole play-through is fucked. I was just about to finish my skywalker build ...
got sunbro spears...check, darkmoon blade, check, emit force, check, SL 56 not too high not too low, check...lordvessel check
....just wanted to get the
very large ember and give kaathe the lordvessle
instead crap head....but made the HUGE mistake to kill
ingward for the gate key
....just read on the wiki that he is bugged and if he doesn't drop when you kill him you cant finish the game...I wouldn't care so much but my skywalker needs +15 weapons....starting over....I would love it if I could gain enough sympathy that if anyone would like to trade me my drops at SL 56 and then return them later after you get them yourself it would be much appreciated....30 hours down the drain. Willing to trade my SLAB away for anyone that intends to farm for it. AdEPTErik on the GFWL.
Wow fuck this game. I don't know what the fuck I am doing wrong but
I fight my way through all the skeletons (that can kill me in three hits) only to run into giant bull that kills me almost instantly
and sets me back half an hour. Over and over again. I have tried all sorts of swords, axes and shields. Am I supposed to have magic or some shit? I don't know because the game didn't explain shit. I had fire balls at one time but not anymore.
I get it. It's supposed to be hardkore but I can only die so many fucking times.
