Cool Spot was a great one. I remember renting it back then and I was shocked at how much I liked it. I was totally not expecting that kind of license to amount to anything. It is funny how great the music is on that game, the rave dance tune is phenomenal. I've listened to the tunes on the SNES and even the Amiga version, and the Genny still comes out on top. Though the Amiga one does have some real instrument sounds, most of the tunes are not as full as the Genny version. The SNES version did have a few extra graphical features, for instance the balloons were a transparent color while they were just solids on the Genny. And I remember the spotlight effect on the wall level, though I thought that was kind of unnecessary.
The biggest thing with Aladdin I think was simply the animation. So many games were still using the missing frames type of animation that something as fluid as Aladdin was a big draw. That, and the rest of the graphics were still of high quality too. Just lots of overall polish in that game is what helps it overcome some of its weaker gaming points.
I know people usually talk about Dave Perry's Aladdin and while credit is due over the good use of the license, I had never quite liked the gameplay after the first levels.
