I don't necessarily have an opinion about the quality of Spencer as a manager, I think the latest moves Microsoft has made have been very questionable, but I don't know if that is due to Spencer's management, decrees from the higher ups at MS proper, or complications due to Covid.
I will say though, that a front figure and executive blocking a outspoken personality and person of some influence in the video game industry just because he got some criticism from said person is a very juvenile move that doesn't exactly help instill confidence in his management.

I've been PC gaming for nearly 30 years, the ethos seen there is the only direction that actually makes sense. Games never stop releasing, hardware doesn't need to conform to a software release schedule.
Games will come before, at and after the release of a console regardless of when it releases. These are 5-7 year purchases, I don't need some reassurance from a game or two around launch that my purchase was worth it.
They always end up in the same place, with thousands of games. Not having some killer app day one is totally irrelevant.

How did a game like Crackdown 3 ever ship? Why did they fail to create any gaming franchise the last generation? As someone who loves the Gears franchise, Gears 5 was almost as bad as Gears Judgment. Microsoft 1st party studio are becoming more irrelevant each year. I think Phil needs to go! If 343 fucks Halo Infinite there's no way he's staying

Ryse: Son of Rome was initially a Kinect game. After the reveal of the game there was a backlash about the Kinect controls and Crytek decided to redo the whole thing. I read somewhere it was hell because they had only a few months for the control design, since it was a launch game for Xbox One.

Even if they were directly harassing / spamming him, he wouldn't have the time to even read them much less respond.
