Days Gone Remastered Officially Announced | State of Play

PS5 Pro quality mode has worse specs than the PS5?
Either that's an error or Pro is getting some huge graphical upgrades the regular PS5 version isn't.
You know 4K is only 2160p and 8K is 4320. The PS5 Pro is supersampling down from a much higher quality image then the base PS5.
*PS5 Pro Quality will supersample down from above 4K.

On base PS5, you will have the option to select between two graphical settings with an additional 40FPS mode coming in a later patch. At launch, you can choose between:

  • Performance: 1440p/Target 60FPS
  • Quality: Native 4K/ Target 30FPS*
The base PS5 rendering settings are the equivalent of "highest" on the PC version of Days Gone and is taking advantage of native resolution rendering instead of PlayStation®4's use of checkerboard rendering.

On PS5 Pro, you will have the option to select between three graphical settings with an additional 40FPS mode coming in a later patch. At launch you can choose between:

  • Performance: 1800p/Target 60FPS
  • Quality: 2880p/Target 30FPS*
  • Enhanced: 1584p/Target 60 FPS with PSSR
PS5 Pro Quality will supersample down from above 4K.

All modes for both PS5 and PS5 Pro output at 4K.*

In addition to the settings listed above, we have made several world graphical improvements compared to the current PlayStation 4 and PC version including:

  • New Atmospheric/Sky simulation using ozone and spectral light simulation
    • Improves overall color tone and produces more accurate light intensities for the sky and sunlight
  • Significantly darker night time
  • Improved screen space indirect lighting and ambient occlusion effects
  • Double shadowmap resolution
  • Additional improvements

Looks good so far. I don't get why 40fps mode is not on the launch. I was expecting a remastered version without downloading any patch...

I hope they don't change much the color and make the game saturated because the original color space was amazing.

Why is this just a DLC on PC when Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered did get a standalone release? Is it for not delisting the original 2021 release, even though HZD Remastered had a pack including the original 2020 release at the same price?
The way I understand it, the console version is just a boost in resolution and settings bringing it up closer in quality to the PC version. Hearing people say they made the nights darker, but that could just be ToD settings or someone misremembering. We will know for sure soon. Days Gone is one of my very favorite games from the PS4 Gen, so I'll be right there with you if there are enhancements that didn't make it to PC, but I haven't seen any indication there will be.

They made this point:

The new visual enhancements sound good and PSSR should look great from such a high base resolution. I believe there's also gonna be unlocked framerate so the experience should hopefully be quite nice for a second playthrough.

lol so I still don't see how I take advantage of the upgrade off my day 1 disc
What do you mean?

You have to pay $10 for the digital download. Anywhere you installed the disk you'd then need to log in to your account to download the patch if you want it.

What gave you that impression? All of their new releases going forward are expected to have pro support and this is a new release.
I was sarcastic, I'm referred to a previous conversation with the usual suspects who found an excuse to complain about something of the pro.

Strange. Sony doesn't care at all to support ps5 pro in their games why now suddenly? Sorry I couldn't resit.
This is basic support, simply higher resolution, the same thing they did on PS4 pro. Many games are non enhanced and they have similar upgrades because they are using DRS

Could be future proofing so this gets an 8k patch on the PS6 Which is likely just 2 years away.

Wasn't Sony dropping 8K Bravia stuff in favor on 4K OLED TVs?

I don't think PS6 is ready for 8K when even Sony TV division give up. Maybe a OLED 4K TV showing a downsample the higher resolution image will do wonders.

Sonys TV division and playstation division are two separate things.

samsung doesnt design washing machines around what its phones are doing

Maybe divisions inside Sony are separated, but I don't think was Sony idea to promote PS5 as a 8K device. They sure tried to sell some TVs in the process.

Sonys first 4k HDMI 2.1 TV's lauched in may of 2020 and PS5 didnt get VRR until April 2022.

The TV division doesnt base its releases or tech updates on what the Playstation is doing. or atleast hasnt for years since blu ray was a thing.

Seems like there is no support for DLSS/FSR/XeSS.
UE4 TAA is rather blurry, so something like DLSS4 or FSR4 would be a great improvement.

Don't forget that the previous models also had the chipset for 2.1 but had the features disabled
Some 2.1 features was enabled but they literally gimped them on purpose.
Sony is weird when it comes to this shit.

Maybe they'll restart in 2 years Plus it's not sure if they'll actually drop their 8k LED range. And Sony is only a portion of 8k sales anyway.

Hold up, 1440p? I thought the PS4 version ran at 4k native?

I'm not paying to play the game at a lower resolution, that is mental.
It was not native, not even played on a PS5, as it used checkerboard rendering to reach 4K but it suffered from instances where it was 1920x2160 with double width pixels.

Isn't it RDR2 with such issue? It was quite visible there but never noticed any IQ issues in Days gone.

Now it's 1440p/60fps

At 4K it's really clean with this game honestly.
One of the best port from the PS4.
We'll see if it runs as well with this update.

Weird. I always thought the CBR implementations in Days Gone one of the best. Maybe it had such bugs in the IQ just the first months? Because they released an huge update via patch to fix a lot of perfomance issues quite later in the years.

Wasn't it the mediatek chip, in Sony TVs the limiting factor ?

That and Sony have stuck to the hdmi spec, as the vrr window sticks at 48 fps and doesn't drop to 40 ? Like others do

And the only 2 HDMI ports !!! And one of them is earc

Some weird decisions from the company, over on the tv side. Like the opposite of synergy or complimenting the console business

lol so I still don't see how I take advantage of the upgrade off my day 1 disc

I had it installed but never played it on my ps4 pro. Was waiting on patches and in then end, the ps5

When I got a ps5. I played at part of the instant game collection and loved it (a great first ps5 game) 🫶

My upgrade path says £45. I have no option to delete a licence, on my console

I'm not sure the update over what i played (was great bar the slow loading), is worth that much.

Will wait for a sale, or for it to go back on psn (if I don't let it run out this time)

Yes, they have secondary chips even on models released after to enable those features.
Something to do with BE+MT5598 Chip combo and obviously controlling access to them.

So the remastered edition will be on PC also?
It looks like it.

And the pc version (that goes on a deep sale every big steam sale) get the most important upgrades for free.
Double whammy.
pretty sure they are going to bump the price of the "old version" of DGB to force price parity with the new version.

e.g. CDKEYS which has carried it in the $10-11 range for years now, has it back up in the $30s.

Rename it State of Replay

:messenger_tears_of_joy:

I wish that more games from the PS1/PS2 era were chosen for remakes. Probably still cheaper than a new game since the plot and core gameplay are mostly there, and at least it would improve games that were hardware limited. PS4 era games don't really need it, IMO.

Sony is filled with morons. We could have had DG2 by now. Was really interested how the story would go, but these suckers thought concord was the future.

I really love the ps5 as my main gaming device, but I developed hatred towards Sonys strategy.
