Days Gone Remastered [OT] The straights are AT IT AGAIN!

The CB in this game looked really good on PS4 Pro/PS5 BC. It also has more pixels than 1440p (460k more pixels).
From the quick look in the DF video, it looks like the performance has improved over BC.

So resolution > enhanced lighting, atmospherics, draw-distance, haptics, new game modes etc. Not to mention that if you paid for the upgrade (like on PC) you still have the original PS4 version available to play under BC as well...

As I've mentioned before, the deliberate attempts to problematize using arbitrary metrics isolated from all other variances/enhancements is pathetically transparent.
I'd say that any visual downgrade (in this particular case, image quality) in a remaster outweights pretty much any of the improvements, which in this case are fairly minor compared to, say, the Horizon: Zero Dawn or Spider-Man remasters.

Oh I'm gonna upset people by saying I'm playing in Quality Pro mode (supersampled 5K)
And it looks glorious and I actually like the new lighting (blue tint)
very 2000's which I appreciate 👍

And that GamingTech guy is idiot, saying the Quality Mode on Pro is blurry in motion compared to the Enhanced Mode because of 60fps.
that's bullshit and not how it works.
The resolution & detail will still be higher then the PQ in Enhanced Mode even when the Enhanced Mode is static, and when in motion the Enhanced Mode will lose even more detail regardless of if it's 60fps or not.

I'm playing on Quality as well.
No issues so far, will have to see if the framerate holds in the southern portion of the map.

Ooooof…..

Large load Oooofff…

How come when he shows the PS4 version being better it has a blue tint and the PS5 Pro has the warm tint, yet all the other footage that looks better on the PS5 Pro has the blue tint (which we know is the difference) & the PS4 version has the warm tint 🤔

the enemy AI in this is absolutely fucking atrocious.

You would think for a remaster they may try to fix or improve things on that side, but, no... give us your money?

Human AI is stupid intentionally. I remember Devs saying 'making AI very smart not only wouldn't be fun, but also would destroy any possibility of making AI interact with another AI.'

I agree because I keep making Human AI fight with either freaks or the horde. I also played Far Cry 4 and the AI is fucking boring, like, you have a wild animals and enemy with guns helping each other to kill you. Making AI super intelligent end up making them helping each other to kill the player.

Not defending dumb AI, but devs need to find middle ground.

That's what people love these days.

Also see: Oblivion remastered.
Oblivion is fun and it's more than a remaster , it has new animation , overhaul leveling system etc..., it should be a remake

Days gone remaster has no effort at all

Likely different time of day or dynamic weather conditions making like for like sync impossible

It's funny, I couldn't find Oblivion less 'fun' if I tried yet I love Days Gone, it's almost as if people have different tastes eh? How weird?!

Friendly reminder that visual upgrade is actually free on all platforms. $10 are charged for new modes only.

Quite a looker on PC too, but I don't have screenshots on me now. Really love the upgraded draw distance.

Nope. There is no PS5 visual upgrade unless you pay $10 on PSN.
I own it on both platforms.
The PC (which I didn't buy the DLC) got a new splash screen, etc.
On PS5 Pro, it launched the old PS4 version, no update.
I paid the $10 and now I can download the PS5 version with the new splash screen.
So, you only get the visual upgrades for free on PC (which were there already).

Huh? Interesting then.

So that's why they're called Bend.

I'll get this soon enough. Loved the 1st one. The cut scenes were really cringe. The dialogue is legendary in 1 section.

Sony and Lazy Remasters? Tell me about a more iconic duo.
There are at least higher settings in this remaster plus they used pssr (pssr has issues in this game tho), so that's more than we can say for most Sony "remasters" this gen.

Sony has been so lazy with remasters this gen I never would've expected that from them of all companies. Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted 4, last of us 2 didn't even improve any settings aside from resolution. I think only Spiderman, days gone, and horizon were actual remasters whereas ports would be a better term for everything else.

Man. Even if I could upgrade the PS+ version for $10, it still doesn't seem worth it.

Sony Bend was wasted on this title to begin with. Their best work was on the PSP.

Haven't played this, but I always love making enemies fight each other.

There isn't nearly enough of it in games. The best I can usually hope for is some friendly fire damage. But I want Doom style fights to break out.

If that's the sort of thing you can do in this I might be interested.

There's a number of different factions you can setup to attack one another. The most satisfying is attracting a horde of hundreds to wipe out an entire enemy village.

Part of the dynamic AI includes stumbling upon different factions of varying sizes fighting, so you can either choose to join in and wipe them out to get a lot of loot or just keep driving.

I don't get the "the straights are at it again" reference, someone please enlighten me.
It's from one of the reviewers.

There's many choice quotes to use from the above mess but 'Again' works for it now being a remaster and people playing it 'Again'.

Played this on PC couple of years ago. It was mechanically solid and decent enough to play, but I remember by heart just sank when I went through the big tunnel and arrived at a whole brand new biome, filled with a shitload of even more dour side quests to do. That's where I bailed. I thought the tone and the characters were dreadfully dull and I was really bored by the gameplay loop after finishing the first big area.

You can, you can straight up make an horde follow you, enter an enemy camp and see the chaos unfold.

Also, infected and animals interact with human enemies and even some infected interact between each other.

Out of all the sony open worlds, dg is by far the most interactive, probably the reason why it was the most buggy at launch (not for me, i was lucky i guess).

Nintendo is the worst. The Mario 35th anniversary and especially DK Country returns were a joke.

We need to really be happy a sequel never happened. Zero chance Sony wouldn't try and atone for these perceived "sins". They'd keep the horde gameplay but slaughter the characters, which is really what made this game stand out.

I doubt Sony cared what they had to say as they are turning it into a movie.

That said,

The story did allow it to move onto new characters, following O'Brien or one of his crew instead.
