Days Gone Remastered [OT] The straights are AT IT AGAIN!

Almost in the end. I want to go back the Oregan woods.

Its a shame they didn't add the option to make snow in the first area, aka woods.

In their preview gameplay a long time sgo I do remember snowing in Cooplands camp.

Are you happy at all that nothing was censored or changed? You were hopping mad about the possibility 🤣

Yes, I'm happy that nothing was censor. Even so I bought the remaster, remember? Damn sure I wouldn't pay full price.

Whats up with that attitude of yours? Are you alright?

Hell yeah I'm alright. Just wanted to know if you're good with it 🧐

It's from one of the reviewers.

There's many choice quotes to use from the above mess but 'Again' works for it now being a remaster and people playing it 'Again'.
Seems that at least there's some justice in the world and almost none of these idiots continue working there. I did a quick search and I think only two of them continue. So the gaming media is now a better place without them.

+1 for having the protagonist be a U.S. Army vet though, too many games have a regular guy magically able to use every weapon in a platoon's arsenal off the bat. At least Deacon has the background to be able to load an M249 properly the first time he's given one.
Yeah, I also really like the protagonist of Mafia III (another severely underrated game) for the same reason. That background does a lot in helping ground the character narratively within the context of the gameplay.

Game still has worse IQ than PS4 BC version even on Pro in enhanced more! WTF, That CB Days Gone used looks EXELLENT to this day.

Other than that game has really good usage of Dual Sense and probably some other good changes that I will appreciate when playing but they should have left PS4 Pro image reconstruction mode too choose because it looks the best.
Why you continue to spit out so many overwhelming statements about the PSSR it's so unbelievable to me. I'm the first who has pointed out there are flaws in the IQ but I have played a lot on the ps4 pro to can claim it wasn't absolutely better with CBR, I find the IQ quite comparable to the perfomance mode at native 1800p of the ps5 pro, so you can even choose such option if you really detest so much the PSSR artifacts. But I really don't understand this continue attitude to spread such nonsense for some raw edges in the IQ (which are quite common even on DLSS on pc too to be brutally honest).

So what I feared turned out to be true, based on initial gameplay videos posted by streamers on youtube the PS5 and PS5 Pro's performance mode looked blurrier than PS4 Pro version running on PS5 through back compati. Digital Foundry's analysis has now confirmed it. Disappointing.

Because they removed CB, yes.

So i encountered my first major bug last night. Near the work camp the bridge to get over the highway plus the surrounding area won't load. It essentially looks like big rig over the road racing in that area, the road just... stops exisisting and its all low rez ground textures. The issue is the bridge is not just invisible it's none existent so you just fall into a gorge... worse there must be cars or trucks scattering the highway, there hit boxes still work unlike the birdge... but there invisible, so your just riding around and SLAM! Invisible something and off the bike I go.

I reloaded a save the area still won't load... I turned off my PS5 so will go back there tonight and see if it's still an issue.

Try to use the auto-save, or an old manual save.

I got into my first 'crash' after vault to a wood. Thats why the permadeath mode is stupid.

They should commit to adress all the bugs before adding an option to permadeath.

I own the digital copy through Plus collection, this wasn't given in the free monthly games, this was given for the launch of PS5.
I'm pretty sure that version is only available if you're still a plus member. There's no ownership. That's why it's called the ps plus collection.

Yes and what does that have to do with Sony offering or not offering the upgrade path for it. Does Sony think people who have it on Plus are going to say oh let me go pay $74.95 AUD for the remastered version now and double dip? I don't think so. Sony are just leaving many $10 upgrade path sales on the table. Everyone was in uproar about it happening with FF7 remake given by Plus, but all of sudden I'm the problem complaining about this one? GTFO. I think this forum has gone woke.

You said own and I'm just letting you know that both versions are psplus versions. You only have access to it if you're subscribed. And final fantasy wasn't available for a while. They didn't do an immediate about face and you had to pay for the yuffie DLC anyway. Wait for PlayStation to change their minds or buy a cheap physical copy. Also, double dip is buying twice. This doesn't qualify as a double dip. I don't know what woke has to do with anything here days gone related

Well it would be a double dip for me because I bought it originally on launch and did own it. I only got rid if it because it came on Plus. I'm 41 and been gaming nearly my whole life, been a member of Plus since it was released so I don't need to be told I don't own the games amd how it works. Calling me out on this technicality has nothing to do with my issue. I'm not buying the game twice. The problem with people like you responding to comments, is you don't read all the other comments relating to it and get the full story of what I've said. You didn't even know I had already originally bought the game on PS4.

Ok
1. I own the digital copy through Plus collection, this wasn't given in the free monthly games, this was given for the launch of PS5. 2. I want to pay for the upgrade, did you read that right? I want to 'pay' for the upgrade on the digital copy 'I already fucking own!'

Yes so I have access to the Plus version. You've corrected me, who cares what word I used, I've never not been a member of Plus since inception, so to me 'I already have it' but I did own the PS4 version previously. Not sure why we are going back nd forth about something so trivial which doesn't address the basis of my comments and issue.

Beat the game. As I completed this game for like, idk, 10 times already I got to this conclusion this is not a proper remaster at all.

Crash and graphical glitches on the way, and somehow I defended this remaster.

But as I get close to finish, the PS5 complain that he couldn't read the Days Gone PS4 bluray disk. That was litelary broke me.

So, I'll plat this game and uninstall for good.

GTA6 now as well. And.. Mindseye. A game I'm the only person looking forward to I guess. lol.

Finished the first playthrough on PS5 pro, this is probably the most crashes I have ever had on a first party title.

Sometimes terrain would stop loading in when moving across zones requiring ending the game and restarting it to have the areas load.

Sometimes nests etc would become like static objects so would not burn when hit with the fire crossbow or molotov, this always resulted in a crash when moving out of an area this happened requiring restart, as essentially the game had broken down at that point. Closing the app also resulted in a long hang time and a crash.

Sometimes audio would just stop working (sounds like what they patched on PC a little, would have excessively loud noises and then just silence) requiring a restart to fix.

Overall it's a fun enough game, but it feels very buggy, like it needed anouther month or two for fixes to give that premium first party feeling.

As much I like this game, is very very embarrassing not adressing the original games bugs/glitchs and still putting a 'remastered' seal.

All the bugs/glitches I found in my PS4pro version(for example, my last remaining trophy require burning the last nest, but a bug give the nest some sort of invencibility. Same happens in this remaster. The solution is closing the APP and reload a older save) I also find in this remaster. I mean, c'mon what have been Bend Studios doing all this fucking time?

it's a damn shame this game never got it's sequel, they were gonna do co-op too.

really sounds like we had missed out (especially with the post-game credits reveal story wise).

I haven't upgraded to the remaster yet, but honestly, I might. I have nothing else really to play until DS2.

One of the few Sony games from last gen that I generally think back to and reminisce.

They genuinely had something special but let they halfbrain nutters control the narrative.

Imagine they did make DG2 and just blow it out with co-op and make the world's interactivity between different factions and zombies more fleshed out.

New update for VRR rolling out but you can't even turn it off so now I guess you just get unlocked frame rate on every mode. LAME. I'm not going into system settings to turn VRR on and off for each game. The game should have a VRR toggle.

Updates to PS5 and PS5 Pro

GRAPHICS

  • Added a new "Balanced" render mode to the Graphics menu.
PS5

Balances framerate and resolution.

Rendered at 1800p

Target 40FPS

PS5 Pro

Rendered at 2160p (4K output with PSSR)

Target 40FPS

Dev note: This will only show if you have a TV or display supporting 120hz.

  • VRR is now enabled.
Dev note: There will be no in-game selection for VRR. You must have a supported TV or display and enable VRR in the PS5 system settings.

  • Updated input lag to feel more consistent across all render options.
  • Various crash fixes.
  • Map is no longer locked at 30FPS.

Apparently there is also an uncapped 60+ VRR mode too.

Looks like Quality Mode is unaffected by VRR as it runs at a locked 30fps even if you look at the sky, but Balanced and Performance modes are fully unlocked.

Looks like Days Gone PS5pro version (balanced mode) is the first game to date on PS5pro that is using PSSR as a AA.

That df video....Side eyes. Fake Freudian slips. Backbone interest (performing for sponsored content). Sounds like they read gaf on the regular

They actually read gaf believe or not.

Yeah they used to be here and posting.

They were chased away, or left after throwing in the towel against the mob. Or for making comments that were not always agreed with

I'm sure they still hide in the background though.

Oh and I'm having a ball with a play through on balanced mode.

Had some buggy stuff and weird tree graphics, that seems to normally need a quick save and game restart to solve

Don't remember so many bugs and glitches, when I got to playing this on my ps5. I know it was a mess originally. But this does seem a step back

Sure is a looker though. And that atmosphere, in the dark hunting/avoiding hordes. When the music ramps up ….

So worth it 👍🫣😎

IIRC GoW: Ragnarok had selectable PSSR for TAA back at the tail end of 2024.

What's the consensus on the remaster, they didn't censor anything, graphically and performance-wise is ps5 version on the pro the best way to experience it again?

They didn't censor and thats a good point.

But somehow is more bugged than even the base PS4 and I don't understand that.

The PS5 performace mode looks more blurry than the PS4pro version running on PS5. Thats because the PS4pro version runs at 1440p and use CB render to reach 4k, while the PS5 version just runs at 1440p whitout any scaling. They should at least using AMD FSR on PS5 to match PS4pro.

I have a mixed feeling about the night time. Sometimes looks more real, others more annoying to drive at night.

For me looks like they remastered this game from the last minute. I don't recommend buying unless you get via upgrade for $10.
Getting this game at full price is nonsense. They are even releasing patches after patches to solve the issues, I mean wasn't the real reason of a remaster to be the definitive version?

In other words, I don't recommend buying this game at full price. I do recommend buying the $10 upgrade mode because is cheap.

Hope you guys don't mind, but I recently completed the OG version - not the remaster - and got the platinum. Got all the endings too. I'll return to it some time this year to get the 100% trophy completion with NG+ and challenges. Here's my 2 cents on it:

Greatly enjoyed every minute of the journey and exploration. I dunno what the fuck the halfwit mainstream reviewers were smoking. There's an immense amount of passion poored into this in everything from game design to the story. You can kind of tell Bend knew they were competing against TLOU and went all out to make it a high quality game. Which it is.

The story is well written with good background/lore to support it. There's even scenery and locations/environments that rival that of TLOU's enviromental storytelling. The open world is up there with Rockstar's work. The OW encounters are really great with good variety that keep it interesting. Jeff Ross is former Rockstar almuni so, its not very surprising the high amount of detail that went into the game world. The slowmo selection menu adds some incredible tension in battles when you have to make decisions on the fly, especially with hordes. I don't get what Lucy O'Brien (IGN) was on about when she stated the combat gets boring. There's a rich variety of hardware to choose from with how you want to tackle a given situation. You can tell the guys applied all they had learned from Syphon filter here.

I honestly can't blame John Garvin for being pissed and bitter about how the critical reception went down and the aftermath. The game has a lot of heart. Its absolutely undeserved and I get a distinct feeling many of the gaming media people didn't progress past 50%. I can't blame him and Ross for walking away. They and the team don't deserve to be relegated to a support studio. Their departures are a big loss to PS' talent roster. This IP is pure untapped potential to be PS' very own "RDR". Hulst should be on his knees and apolgizing to the two, Garvin and Ross, for rejecting their sequel proposal and urge them to come back. The fucking Hulster swallowed what a bunch of idiots, who examine everything with a political lens, sold as a "truth". A sequel won't hold the same degree without those two and the original team at the helm. One of the VA's even made a candid Youtube comment about the sequel cancellation:

dg-va.png

I legit wouldn't mind seeing a Days Gone 2 and have it take over as the "main zombie franchise" in PS' portfolio from TLOU. It could be a worthy successor after how much ND fumbled their IP.
