I think that's a beta patch for Arma 2 CO; some servers run it but most don't, I'd say you should stick with the normal 1.60.

Damn, I set everything up last night and was ready to play only to realise that my internet connection sucks and I have been having a lot of trouble connecting to servers lately. Guess that's my next task. :/

More often than not, while it may hurt the immersion part of the game a bit, people get really annoyed when they cant spawn anywhere close to their buddies. On a hardcore server this should be turned off probably.

I agree that choosing your spawn would be nice, since:

  • You can already click respawn and abort until you get the spawn you want, if you're patient.
  • Spending literally 30-60 minutes holding down the W button while running down a deserted beach, though it might be interesting once, does not contribute a lot to the game. No other players, maybe one zombie, no loot, no adventure, just a 30+ minute travel time to start doing what you actually wanted to do, after which point you might get screwed over anyway by falling off a short (3 foot drop into water = faint for 30 seconds?) ledge, or a glitch like all your ammo disappearing when you try to use a backpack, or a door you opened breaking your legs.
  • As mentioned, neat things like airfields are far inland, so if you want to meet up with groups of people, you will probably have to spend ANOTHER 1-3 hours of walking to get anywhere near them, on top of whatever walking you had to do to get to the desired coastline point.

Seems like the only US servers with free slots are the ones running the beta patch. Almost seems worth installing that just so I can get in a server.

Where do I get a Arma 2 FREE key? I downloaded it off one of the official sites mirror suggestions and it tells me to look in the field manual. What is this?

I definitely don't trust the other GAF group. We just so happened to get jumped once we got to the church by the square. I was streaming up until that point too. Might have to shell out for the delay option :p

I have followed the instructions in the OP, but I am still getting the "You cannot play/edit this mission" error. I tried reinstalling the mod to no avail. "-nosplash-mod=@dayz" is correct, right? And the files go in the "Addons" folder?

Got it.

I found a bolt action sniper and a nice roof to perch on in the middle of a town. I saw a guy come out of a school with zombies on his ass. I wanted to help, but all he could say after he died was, "f you." I decided to get down and seek more supplies, then I got shot at and ran back to the roof. Came back down, then zombies chased me back up the roof, again. Now I'm stuck up there.

And why isn't there any sound on your VODs??? I wanna hear how ridiculous I sound.

My friend and I headed all the way north to the north-west airfield through the middle of the night with off and on rain. The journey there was brutal and kept us on our toes at every minute. We found a lot of supplies along the way in a town with a department store where we stashed up on food and water and kept heading north. We finally make it to the airfield only to find it ridden with corpses of soldiers and zombies roaming around. Working our way towards the hangars to check out if there are any supplies my friend and I get called out in chat, some guy saw us from a fire station in the area. The guy tells us he is friendly and needs food because he is in bad health. Out of the both of us we only have 1 can of beans and could not spare giving food to him. Now came the decision to give him the can of beans or just tell him we don't have any to spare and take the risk that he will shoot us for them.

The guy throws a flare from the fire station and proceeds to run out to meet us. While he is doing that my friend and I are dodging zombies and discussing what we should do with this guy. My friend is not sold on this guy being friendly and tells me to keep my gun up on him at all times, so I did. We move in on him and see that he is holding a AK, which is a much better gun than what we currently had. Seeing that he had a AK and a bigger backpack sparked the idea of killing this guy for his gear.

While all 3 of us were moving in on each other my friend runs into a zombie, his vision was blurry from blood loss or some wound he got on the way there, which alerted a massive horde that over ran us on the air strip. We are fighting off zombies while also keeping a eye on the guy to be sure he doesn't shoot us. Able to survive the zombie horde we started looting corpses and still contemplating on killing the guy for his gear. I was ready to give the guy beans and gain a new buddy to travel with us when my friend takes 2 shots and kills the guy without any warning. Obviously the guy was furious and yelling at us in chat, he was not a happy camper.

After looting his gear we start making our way to the fire station where the guy was held up to check if he left anything of value there, he did. We found a dead body of a player in the fire station that the guy we just met must have killed. We had no idea what his intentions were and he didn't know ours. That is the magic of this mod, the player interaction that leads to the craziest scenarios that could mean life or death for your character and the hours you spend surviving being diminished with a single bullet or a zombie horde. I love it.

What kind of specs do you need to play Arma 2?

I have an:
i5 3.0 ghz
6 gb ram
GTX 555 1gb vram.

Will that be able to handle it well @ 720p?

This mod looks pretty awesome and I'm on the fence right now.

Specs are very fine and yes it should do very well at an even higher resolution.

I have an i3 3.4 Ghz, HD 5670 (512MB) and I can run it at 1080p, medium-low settings and 30-40fps.

PLEASE, SOMEBODY, HELP WITH MY BATTLEYE SITUATION

I can join non-BattlEye servers, I cannot join any that require BattlEye.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times.

I have tried to use the reinstaller built into Steam, but when I click it, it says it's launching OA and it neither does this nor reinstalls BattlEye.

Can someone, from scratch, tell me which files to delete from which folders and how to start fresh with BattlEye? I'd appreciate it immensely.
