DDoS Attacks?

Been hearing all over Twitter there's a major DDoS attack that took down Discord, Cloudflare, Riot Games, Valorant and a bunch others.

Haven't seen anything mentioned here yet. What's going on?

Yes, I actually asked in the Discord after everything went back up. I couldn't browse any site as it said the DNS server couldn't be reached. But the Twitch stream I was watching was still up and people in chat where going crazy saying the internet was crashing. They also said that AWS was down as well. Everything came back up on it's own eventually, no need to restart my router like I normally do if there is a local outage. We even contacted Comcast and they said there where no outages in our area so DDOS attack makes sense.

Cloudflare had issues and basically Discord etc all use it. No idea if it was a DDOS though or just them needing to change the Internet hamster running everything

Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and potentially Google DNS affected. Curious timing either way, but Google DNS as well would be... something.
Google DNS being down would make sense why I couldn't access any sites since I use their DNS IP...

Sorry I was downloading 6TBs of games.

I use Cloudflare and didn’t notice anything go down.

For the sake of others, that link has been updated and Cloudflare are saying it wasn't an attack.

We had an issue that impacted some portions of the @Cloudflare network. It appears that a router in Atlanta had an error that caused bad routes across our backbone. That resulted in misrouted traffic to PoPs that connect to our backbone. 1/2

We isolated the Atlanta router and shut down our backbone, routing traffic across transit providers instead. There was some congestion that caused slow performance on some links as the logging caught up. Everything is restored now and we're looking into the root cause. 2/2

Just to be clear as there's some speculation on Twitter etc... this was not the result of an attack of any kind.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Discord and a lot of other services use Cloudlfare to route their traffic. Cloudflare had issues earlier, but nobody has confirmed it was a DDOS attack. They could have launched a bad regional config.

Edit: Twitter is a cesspool of fear mongering. My post was too late. I had just read the OP.

Wow, what a massive load of nothing this thread was. Learn how networks & the Internet works people, stop gaming for a few mins to enlighten yourselves.

I wonder if the internet goes down for 24 hours if people will have a mental breakdown over it...It seems we are so dependant on it now......I was telling a colleague the other day, the internet is like drinking water to many. Kinda sad in a way tbh....
