Thanks for the referral links (all 5 of them actually ahaha)!

I'll use the first three sent for me and my friends.
Quick question though: If I already have an account, will I still be able to get the 5$ off?

Sure, just log in with the referal link to be safe. Worked for me.

Really? I already had an account and it wouldn't do the whole $5 referral thing?
Hm, I had not bought anything yet, maybe thats why? I am reading the rules currently, and it really sounds like you have to make an account with that link. Hm.

Haven't decided yet but will wait on impressions and screenshots from you guys. I can't afford both this and Arkham City. I'm hoping it's an easy decision either way.

Don't think I bought anything before I was referred. But I did have an account. When using the link it just defaulted it to my account page (even if I log out and log back in via link)

Yeah exactly. I then went to the shop and bought it, and it worked for both of us. It did not give me any message or some other notice regarding the referral, the credit money was just there then.

' Please note that the affiliate link uses a single session 'cookie' and so any registrations must be completed at the time the referral link is clicked to ensure that the referral is tracked. '

Oh well :<
Weird but not a train smash. JVC, I might have been wrong earlier btw!

So is the PC version the version to get? Or is everyone just getting in on the PC because it's like half the price of the console versions?

It will if you can run it higher than 720p at 60FPS with vsync enabled, if not then go with console if that is your preferred gaming.
As above, hopefully mods will arrive and I am sure we will see some really cool ones.

I am currently watching the stream and I am really getting a sense of how incredibly tense the atmosphere can be. All of the echoing growls and wind howling throughout the environment sounds absolutely perfect. The zombies getting right in your face and and growling like something possessed delivers the desired effect on the money as well.

The voice acting and characters may be bland, but that is forgivable when the vibe of being in the middle of a living nightmare and a survive at all costs scenario is on point. A survival horror RPG in a hub-based open world. What a killer concept.

Just as a side note, I don't think I will ever get tired of curb stomping heads into sauce. Cannot wait to play this.

anyone know if it works with 3d vision?

if not, does it run well on a low end pc? if so there is more chance of a good performance in 3D...

I used to think 3D was a gimmick till I played new vegas in 3D.

Juding from this thread on the Nvidia forums, sounds like it doesn't support it.

So Gamestop has a Limited Edition of this game? It sells for the same price (59.99) but has different cover art and a few weapons and arenas. I'm kinda digging the cover.

I can't believe I hadn't seen this before now.

shit, really? does it remind you of stuff like Lucio Fulci's Zombi? I was on the fence about this one, I have Resistance 3 paid off but that could easily be moved over to this one. if it had that kind of music and atmosphere it will be a no-brainer for me.

btw: you zombie folks who haven't seen Fulci's Zombi, do so. it features a zombie shark and one of the greatest eyeball deaths ever filmed.
If it is like a good old Fabio Frizzi, Blix and Vincent T score than.....

I don't know if this has been answered, but does your inventory transfer over exactly when you join other people's games?

This is so important to me and I noticed that a number of Co-op games mess this up. Namely Mercenaries 2 and Dead Rising 2.

all you have to do is pause and press Y (360 version). Might be confusing at first since it isn't a menu option, just says it in the lower left corner of the pause screen.

hmm that's strange ....well I haven't played it yet...just read it in the ausgamers.com review.

I hope the game is still worthwhile as a single player experience as I have no interest in co-op. The idea of an action/RPG that takes place on a sprawling island resort is very appealing to me, but co-op focused games, like Borderlands and FEAR 3, can be boring and tedious when played alone.

The GT review pretty much says you should play it co-op. You don't have to, but you really, really should.

That's also why I'm holding out for further impressions.

I love the concepts of games such as Borderlands, however it's painfully boring on your own. I'm one of those strange few who would gladly take poor bots over real life hughmans.

has their been any talk of pc performance at all? other than the whole this not being a port thing?

My playthrough for Dead Island’s review was on the PC version, and it was a buggy, strange affair. I’m not sure if it was my review build or if the retail version will be the same way, but I’m forced to warn players away from it. Visual bugs infected the entire experience: my copy would never render fire or steam escaping from vents, or even the gross Boomer-like spit of certain zombie types. I had to use my imagination and lighting clues to guess where fire was so I could avoid getting burned, and despite my character yelling “Damn!” whenever I blew something up, I never got to see an explosion. Cutscenes, too, occasionally suffered some really weird visual issues. Audio also would sometimes cut in and out, and I caught more than one NPC switching voice actors from encounter to encounter. However, I played a fairly complete preview build of the first hour on Xbox 360 with no similar problems — so I can’t be sure if it’s just me, or if the PC version really does have so many problems.

Personally, I'm staying away until a patch is released, or until there are more opinions on the PC version.

Sweet. My local Gamestop is hooking me up with the Limited Edition, even though I pre-ordered really late. (On friday.) I'm just psyched for the superior box art. It pays to get to know those people sometimes.

Speaking of Gamestop the odds of them opening my preordered copy and messing around with it are pretty low right?

Yeah, I mean I'd like to say they're pretty low, but you never know with that place. I like the people, but there's no denying Gamestop's policies are shit. (But that's another thread altogether.)
